Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How well would this fair with a Profoto B10 Plus with an RFI 1X3 Strip box?

A: At max extension this boom is rated for less than 2 lbs. It would not be suitable. The larger Avenger would be able to do it at a partial but not full extension. https://bhpho.to/3bH4yo9

Q: 2. Can this boom pole stand hold a DSLR and lens for a flat-lay filming as well? Thanks!

A: The Manfrotto 208 3/8" Head Mounting Plate with Lock Screws B&H # MA208 can be inserted at the end of the boom in place of the included stud. This plate can then accept a ball head such as the Manfrotto 496RC2 Compact Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate B&H # MA496RC2 to hold your DSLR. https://bhpho.to/2qzA4xA https://bhpho.to/2QuMfg0

Q: 3. Does this actually have 3/8 -16 female thread on the spigot? I've seen some photos with and some without.

A: This one does not have the 3/8 -16 thread on the spigot.

Q: 4. Does this model include the ratchet lever to lock the boom arm? I ordered this model and it is missing this piece.

A: Yes it does have a lever about 2.5 inches long to tighten the boom arm however it does not ratchet.

Q: 5. Will this hold an Einstein strobe and beauty dish?

A: Yes. But you will need a counterweight sandbag.

Q: 6. From Description: "Included is an adjustable 4.3 to 7.2' boom arm that can support up to 33 lb." Is this including the counterweight, or can it support a 33lb load on one end at max extension?

A: The load capacity at full extension on the Neewer Stainless Steel C-Stand with Casters and Boom Arm would include the counterweight.

Q: 7. Can I attach a microphone for video purposes?

A: Yes you can. Just add one of this: https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/217590-REG/Sennheiser_MZQ1_MZQ1_Microphone_Clamp.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/217590-REG/Sennheiser_MZQ1_MZQ1_Microphone_Clamp.html/a

Q: 8. How do you easily open & close the legs? Is there a trick I’m missing? I’m finding it very difficult to do without a 2nd person.

A: The Neewer Stainless Steel C-Stand with Casters and Boom Arm (10') can be a bit tricky but should not be too hard to open and close. Make sure the boom is straight up and not horizontal, which should help.

Q: 9. I just received this stand, but I can't figure out how to lock or tighten the boom arm. Where is the thread lock on the boom arm hinge?

A: When the boom arm is fully extended and the spring lock is pushed downward, the arm can be locking using the main ratchet handle to the left of the spring lock.

Q: 10. How long can this boom extend horizontally? Can this boom take more then 3.3 lb of weight at the end for a light without bending the boom?

A: I have this boom and need to replace the arm because it has bent from too much weight. The arm is aluminum and will bend if overloaded and extended. I had an Elinchrom moonlight and soft-box, probably about 4-5 lbs.

[46.5 x 5 x 4.5"] Great reach from this Boom stand. Holds the Nanlite Forza 300 with a Parabolic 120 Softbox. Easy to use. Sturdy AF.

[Steel] Love how compact this is. Much better alternative than using a heavy C-Stand. This has been my primary boom holder for all of my interviews. Found this halfway through filming my first documentary and its so much easier to setup and carry.

[Steel] I prefer this type of stand for traveling over a C stand and already use other standard Manfrotto stands that have worked great for my use case. I was unaware of this option until it was recommended to me and now I love it for being able to boom small soft boxes for Portrait Lighting. Add the 3lb or 10lb Manfrotto counterweight and you're good to go! It's a sturdy option.

[Optional] I can securely mount 2-3 Astera Helios tubes, even at full boom extension. Lightweight, well-designed and durable.

[46.5 x 5 x 4.5"] Originally bought a less expensive boom stand/pole for back/hair lighting, thinking I would save some money. What I actually bought was a cheap piece of junk that broke within a week.

THIS product, however.... this Manfrotto, as soon as I set it up... sturdy, got my backlighting exactly where it needed to be without any issues at all. Positioning the light EXACTLY not only where I want it, but HOW I want it (angle) was a breeze. AND....it STAYS there reliably. I set it and forget it.

Sturdy, reliable product. That's it. HIGHLY recommend this boom stand.

[Round] I love this thing. I use them for interviews and hang a mic over the subject. It's sturdy and strong, which is what I wanted in a boom pole stand. I got it directly at the store, but ordered it online. They were efficient and had it in stock.
