The Sigma 18-35mm 50-100mm Lenses with Case PL Feetwith a PL mount and with focus scales marked in feet provides an image circle that covers Super 35mm-sized sensors. It features a maximum T-stop of 2, and the aperture does not ramp over the zoom range. It shares common lens gear positions with the other lens in the Sigma High-Speed Zoom lineup, which makes for rapid lens changes.

The 9-bladed iris provides round out-of-focus highlights for a natural-looking bokeh. The lens barrel features 180° of rotation from close focus to infinity, the zoom barrel rotates 160°, and the clickless iris ring features 60° of rotation. All three lens control rings are geared with cine-standard 0.8 Mod gears, and the focus scale is marked in feet. The front of the lens is 95mm in diameter with a removable 1/4"-20 support foot that helps support the lens with the aid of a 1/4"-20 rod-mounted lens support (not included).

All the lenses in the lineup are designed to comply with SIGMA's CCI standard simplifying when intercutting between lenses.

Sharing the same dustproof and splashproof construction as the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM|Sports, each ring and mount is sealed to prevent water and dust from entering.

The lens body is made completely of metal to stand up to the rigors of the production day.

The main lens markings are in luminous paint for easy visibility in low light situations. The intermediate markings are laser-engraved for durability. The focus and zoom markings are readable from either side of the lens.

The lens features a 95mm front diameter for compatibility with a wide variety of matte boxes and incorporates an 82mm front filter thread.

All three lens gears are standard 0.8 Mod and feature a damper that eliminates metallic sounds when you reach the end of the lens travel.

The lens includes a removable support foot.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these lenses parfocal? (in the same way that the GL modded versions are...)

A: According to Sigma these lenses are nearly parfocal. For more information please, see the B&H Explora article, Parfocal or Not: For Sigma High Speed Zooms, that is the Question.

Q: 2. Has anyone used this lens with a Metabones Ultra 0.71 on a GH5? What were your results? Was focus clear and stable throughout zoom range? Did you have any vignetting? Thank you!

A: While we have not heard of this particular combination, it is an EF lens, a Metabones adapter, and a GH5 camera. And there are thousands of successful combinations of these components. We would expect this to work as intended with excellent sharpness.

Q: 3. Does it work with RED S35 8K?

A: For RED 8K, you need Full Frame lenses. Lenses that are known to work are Zeiss CP.2, Canon Cinema Primes, Xenon FF lenses. As for zooms only the Zeiss Compact Zooms CZ.2 lenses are known to work. Unfortunately, the Sigma lenses are Super35 only and will vignette in 8K.

Q: 4. What is the PL flange clearance of these lenses?

A: The PL flange clearance of the Sigma 18-35mm and 50-100mm Lenses with Case (PL, Feet) is 17.05mm for the 50-100mm and 18.60mm for the 18-35mm.

Q: 5. Does this lens have auto focus?

A: It does not. This is a Cinema lens, which is manual focus only. You also need to control the zoom and aperture on the lens itself. It is a fully manual lens.

Q: 6. Would the Face Tracking and Tracking in Canon C-300 Mark II work with these lenses?

A: Unfortunately, since these lenses do not have focus motors and are fully manual only, they cannot utilize the auto focus features of the Canon C300 Mark II.

Q: 7. Is it possible to use a variable ND on these lenses? If so, what thread size is required?

A: Sure, you can put a Variable ND on most any lens, including these. The filter size is 82mm. Here is a good quality Variable ND. Hoya 82mm Variable Neutral Density Filter B&H # HOVND82.

Q: 8. Does this lens work with RED S35 8K?

A: Yes this lens does work with that camera. Youll have a little vignetting at 18, looks good in my opinion. Rent it first and make sure you like it!

Q: 9. Will this work with arri large format?

A: These lenses only cover a Super 35mm Sensor. If you are looking to use this camera with a larger sensor than Super 35mm they will not work.

Q: 10. Will these lens work with canon eos 1dx Mark 3

A: These lenses cover a Super 35mm Sensor only. It will not cover the larger full frame sensor of the 1DXIII.

[Super35/APS-C] 5 years from now these lenses will still be some of the best on the market. They have a beautiful image and will stand the test of time.

Perfect focal lengths for a kit.

[1.94x] I work in documentary and TV, shooting on the FS7. I shoot a lot of b-roll and interviews on the fly, but am always looking for that extra edge to make my imagery look better than the next DP, and this lens (plus the 18-35mm sister lens) help me achieve that goal.

I can say that for interviews, this lens is irreplaceable. In doc scenarios, primes aren't really ideal, as you are stuck with one focal length in an environment where you need to work quickly and often are making changes. In my experience with this lens, I've found that sometimes I'll settle on 77mm or 86mm or 92mm (or whatever) for interviews, a point of flexibility that isn't possible with primes. The fact that it's T/2 throughout the range is a major bonus, as you are getting the best of both of the zoom/prime worlds.

Shooting outdoors in changing light conditions, being able to ride the aperture without the iris-stepping of a stills lens is also an irreplaceable quality.

Some people complain that this is just a stills lens with cine gears but in real world shooting conditions, I don't find that to be the case. For pixel peepers, maybe they are right, but you simply can't replace focus markings, smooth aperture, and cinema grade build quality.

Last note: I rented the PL and E-mount version of this lens. With the PL to E-mount adapter on the PL version, both lenses are the exact same length, so I'd recommend buying the PL version for resale value and general usability.

[T2
f/1.8] We got this PL mount set plus a couple of the Sigma Cine FF primes and they have vastly exceeded our expectations. Sigma has really shaken up the cinema world for getting build and optical quality at an affordable price. These are a must own for any professional cinematographer.

[Imperial] I will first say that my reference to heavy use not only means i have used it a ton since it arrived, but also because its a heavy mother! However, its weight is surpassed by its razor sharp images, fast focus, and amazing build quality. I am running this guy on my D5600 and i have had extremely positive results. Reading other reviews had me slightly worried about focus outside of the center AF points but i have yet to have an occasion where it has not made accurate and quick focus even in low light and night time conditions.

I am very happy with this purchase!
