Compatible with most audio/video recording apps, this cable enables you to take a live feed from a mixing board or any other XLR-equipped line level source and record it directly to your smartphone or tablet via the 3.5mm headphone jack.

While smartphone microphone inputs typically only accept mono signals, this cable takes a stereo signal, blends the left and right channels together, and gives you a stereo-to-mono mix that plays back in both the left and right side of your headphones. To prevent distortion, a built-in attenuation pad reduces the signal strength to mic level, and for protection, an electrolytic capacitor prevents DC power from reaching your device.

A: Hi Lest. There is a chance it will work, but it most likely will not, unless the jack "sees" the signal in the same way it does an Apple earbuds set or a headset with mic. Our IPSUM and IPHONE cables were not designed for Macbooks, but we are reviewing and will be testing and updating the line accordingly once tests are complete and we can fully advise whether cables work with Macbooks or not. A: The length of this Sescom cable is listed as 36 inches, which is 3 feet. The information for the cable length is clearly stated in the product title, description, and specs. Sescom also offers the same cable in 12" and 18" length, but 36" is the longest length available. If you need a long cable, the best option would be to use female RCA adapters such as the Pearstone RCA to RCA Female Coupler - Pair (B&H # PEPARFRF) which will allow you to attach another dual RCA cable in the length you choose. We do offer long RCA to RCA cables such as the Kopul 2 RCA Male to 2 RCA Male Stereo Audio Cable - 30 ft (B&H # KOSRC4030) or 50 ft (B&H # KOSRC4050). When used together with the adapters and a longer extension cable, the Sescom cable will still provide line to mic level summing for a mobile device.

[4.3 x 3.7 x 1"] Plug your pro mic. with XLR connection right into your camcorder - perfect match. I use this when I don't need an external mixer (Juiced Link). With my microphones the signal goes to both Canon Vixia channels equally. I have other Sescom equipment - GREAT quality. 5

[0.2 lb] I was looking for a way to bring external audio into my iPad without resorting to an external audio interface. I found that some simple apps, for example the iPad's built-in video camera, don't always recognize pro audio interfaces even if designed for iOS devices. Since this cable just utilizes the ubiquitous mic input on the iPad, it works perfectly. You can run your mixing board output(s) straight into this. It has the internal circuitry needed to do the line-to-mic conversion and (if needed) summing, and other protections. Of course you get mono into your device whether one or both XLRs are connected. It was well worth it to me to not have to figure out the proper circuit and then kludge solder something up on my own. For being molded it is well constructed. I suggest being careful with the 3.5mm end and not stress it or your iPad/Phone jack by dangling this adapter with heavy XLR connectors from your iPad/Phone. Use a lighter-weight 3.5mm extension cable at the iPad first or otherwise strain relief the 3.5mm at the iPad/Phone some way. 5
