The Gitzo GT1555T Series 1 Carbon Fiber Travel Tripodis a compact support system with legs that fold around the center column and optional head. These reverse-folding legs contribute to the tripod's folded length of just 14". It extends to 54.3" high and can hold up to 22 lb worth of gear. With the included short center column installed, the tripod can get down to 7.9" for macro or low-angle shooting.

The tripod employs Carbon eXact tubing for added strength and stiffness compared to the Carbon 6X tubes. Q: 1. Does this ball head control easy with Tele Vue TV60 and TV85 ? Or I should out the Tele Vue Tele-Pod Alt-Az Yoke Mount on the tripod ? Could I put the Tele Vue Tele-Pod Alt-Az Yoke Mount on the tripod ? Thanks

A: The TeleVue TV60 can be used with a photo tripod like the GT1555T or tripod that can hold 18 lbs or more. However, we do not recommend the TV60 for use with a ball head even though it is possible to mount one there. A pan/tilt head like the Gitzo 3-Way Fluid Head, B&H # GIGHF3W would be best in this case. For the TV85, a yoke is required. https://bhpho.to/2U8Io8S

Q: 2. What Gitzo carrying bag fits the Gitzo GT1555T tripod?

A: The two following bags can accommodate the following tripod. Please review the following bags Gitzo GC1202T Padded Traveler Tripod Bag Series 1 https://bhpho.to/3Evm0Lz FLM FB 14-48 Tripod Bag for CP30-Series Tripods (Black) https://bhpho.to/3Cm59ce

Q: 3. Is it made in Italy or China?

A: According to the information in our website, the Gitzo GT1555T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod with Center Ball Head is manufactured in Italy. Please be aware this can change by the manufacturer over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 4. Is theiir a hook aus on the gt2542t ?

A: It does not but between two leg hinges on the bottom edge of the base there is a built in ring/pass through. It's meant for the shoulder strap but you could easily but an S Hook in it and hang a bag. It's slightly offset from center but not by far. It's heavy duty and not going to break off.

Q: 5. Is there a hook that is compatible with the Gitzo GT1555T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod? The G-2020 Hook DOES NOT FIT.

A: There is no compatible hook for the Gitzo GT1555T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod with Center Ball Head.

Q: 6. Will the ball head allow for vertical shooting?

A: Yes. The socket has a slot that allows the shaft between the ball and the camera mounting plate to drop to horizontal. This permits either portrait or straight vertical orientation. I will be using it vertically for whole sky images with my 10.5mm fisheye in the Andes next month.

Q: 7. Will the 14" version be able to support a canon 6d mk ii with a 135mm L lens attached?

A: This tripod has a load capacity of 22 lbs--it can support a 6D Mark II and 135mm lens.

Q: 8. Is there a spring in there, if the horizontal adjust knob is completely removed (like it is for bigger knob)? Also when this knob is unscrewed, can the ball head move really easily? Mine still has some decent friction. Not sure if I got a dud. Thanks.

A: No there is not a spring in the horizontal adjust knob. If the tension setting is set to about 0 and the knob other knobs are unscrewed the head will move some what freely.

Q: 9. I have a Nikon D750. Do I need to or should I purchase a plate for this kit?

A: No you do not, it comes with a standard base plate.

Q: 10. Is the listed folded length and weight including the ball head or just the tripod legs?

A: The folded length and weight you see on the website is including the ball head.

[Yes] Owned this many years ago, sold it, now re-bought it again. Grass isn't always greener on the other side. The strongest, most sturdy travel tripod I have ever owned. Folds up to 14 in. super short! Holds my 70-200mm f/2.8 with no problem.

[Carbon Fiber] So I've now owned this tripod for a couple of months. Waited to write a review until I had tested it thoroughly because it's expensive, and I'm really picky. I can safely say that I love it. What do I use with it? Sony A7ii and either the Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 or the Sony 55mm f/1.8, plus a series of Lee filters. Specs on those are available, if you care to see what the total kit weight is. Know that this tripod handles it without even nearing its stress point. But what if I'm tall? I'm 6'2, and it would kill me if the Sony didn't have the screen that swivels, but it does, so the reduced height doesn't bother me in the least. If I had to look down the viewfinder every time I took a shot, though, my back would be broken. It is a sacrifice I made for the overall size, and because of the functions of my gear I definitely stand by it. But what if I'm doing long exposures? I've used this repeatedly, in high wind (25mph, 40mph gusts) to shoot 30 second exposures without even a mild bit of tripod shake discernible in Lightroom during editing. But should I get the slightly longer one with fewer leg sections? Meh. I didn't, and I do not regret my choice. In theory, the fewer sections, the sturdier the tripod. I think that's a safe assumption and continues to hold true, but this is well sturdy enough for my camera setup, so if you're using it with what I'm using, nope. If you want a small tripod, get a really small tripod. Otherwise, stop caring about size so much and get something cheaper. Doesn't it take longer to set up than the 4 section one? Yes, by about 4 seconds. So if that matters to you, this is simply not the tripod for you. If you grab all of the handy twist-locks at the same time and twist, the job is done in less than 20 seconds anyway. If I were using a full frame SLR body with some big 2.8 zooms, I might have problems with the weight, but for a mirrorless, even one of the larger ones like the A7 series, a heavier lens and filters, this is top of the line.

[Twist Lock] I've had the tripod for a couple of weeks now and I'm very pleased with it. It meets all my requirements. It is very compact at just 35cm long when folded with the head, yet it takes a decent load of 22 lb (10 kg) and has an ideal maximum height of 47.6 (121 cm) without the column. With the head the actual shooting position is a 131 cm, so for me I only need to extend the column about an inch to shoot from almost eye level (I'm 5'10'') I use it with a nikon D810 and nikon professional glass and it takes it really well. The G locks make the set up of the tripod a breeze. The supplied head is brilliant but it takes some time to get used. On my Manfrotto you can feel the tension on the ball knob. With this head, the ball can be locked but the tension knob will still rotate quite smoothly which is a good thing in my opinion. I do a lot of long exposure work and found the tripod and head very stable. Craftsmanship is superb, specially the head which is beautifully engineered. I'm very please with this tripod. Due to its size and weight it is now a permanent fixture in my camera bag

[Twist Lock] AH-MAZING! Super smooth and lightweight but rock solid sturdy! I had a large regular tripod that was a behemoth to carry around and also had a little lightweight travel one that was quite flimsy. Finally bit the bullet to pay for quality - this will be my one and only from now on!

[Yes] I needed a light weight tripod for taking on trips and this fits the bill. Small and compact and easy to set up! The only thing I did not like was the price, but who is ever satisfied with that? I would recommend it!

[Carbon Fiber] Extremely light tripod which makes it very helpful as a travel tripod.

[Carbon Fiber] I own the Gitzo Moutaineer and was looking for something just a bit easier to get around with when I travel and this is exactly what I needed. It's light, sturdy and easy to pack in or outside of my pack. Wish it was a bit taller, but I knew that going in and can't ding it for that. The only minor nit I have is that the feet could be a bit sturdier, but they get the job done and work fine in 99% of the situations I've needed them in.

[Yes] Super compact, light wait but sturdy. Excellent for travel and sturdy enough for canon 70-200 f2.8 and long exosure photography.

[3.4 lb] after 45 years of using my aluminum Gitzo, it was time to upgrade to carbon fiber, same legs basically but folds smaller and with the head, lighter? a little. very stable. The plate that screws onto the camera needs padding or something to ensure a tight fit on the camera so the camera don't twist.
