Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. country of origin?

A: Country of Origen at this time is Italy.

Q: 2. Would this tripod be suitable for a Sony A1 with 200-600 lens? what head would be recommended? I f not suitable - what?

A: This is a fantastic choice for that combination. Options for a head depend on your usage. If you are doing wildlife or sports photography consider looking at Gimbal heads such as the Wimberly or the Oben. I would suggest you call or chat with one of our agents to better recommend a head for your specific needs.

Q: 3. How would an Arca Swiss D4 head pair with the 2545T?

A: The Arca-Swiss d4 Tripod Head with FlipLock Lever Quick Release will work with the Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod. I would say, that a larger tripod would be a better choice. Such as the Gitzo GT5543LS Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Tripod.

Q: 4. Is theiir a hook aus on the gt2542t ?

A: It does not but between two leg hinges on the bottom edge of the base there is a built in ring/pass through. It's meant for the shoulder strap but you could easily but an S Hook in it and hang a bag. It's slightly offset from center but not by far. It's heavy duty and not going to break off.

Q: 5. what is the overall diameter of the tripod when folded?

A: I'm assuming by your question by diameter you mean the distance all the way around the tripod. If you mean diameter to mean the distance straight across the widest point when folded, it would measure about 4 . Not sure what the relevancy of that measurement is. The most important statistics are weight and what it folds up to and what height it extends to. All of those numbers are accurately provided for on the product site. Hope that clarifies.

Q: 6. Can you mount a Manfrotto ballhead on this tripod?

A: I installed a Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ballhead on that tripod. Works well.

Q: 7. Would this be a good choice for a KES BH-1, Nikon D750 & Nikkor 200mm f/2 combo? Or for a star tracker, D750 & 14-24mm f/2.8?

A: Yes. The Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod will support the items you listed.

Q: 8. When the legs are folded (and no ball head, what is the circumference at the fattest point? I'm trying to compare it to the same measurement for the GIGT1545T so I have a feel for how much room it will take up in my travel bag. Thanks.

A: Its widest point is the top of the first twist lock, roughly a width (lock to lock, like an equilateral triangle) of 106.13mm using my calipers. Calculating for outer linear dimensions, that makes it 318.39mm / 12.5". If considering its diameter, it's 96.79mm at the same closest lateral point, which puts its circumference at roughly 304.07mm / 11.97".

Q: 9. Are there any dimension restrictions on the size of ball head that can be attached? I was looking at the Really Right Stuff BH-40 with base diameter of 2.1 inches or the BH-55 with base diameter of 2.9 inches. I'd like the legs to still be able to fold up without obstruction.

A: I owuld recommend the BH40 head, it is a more appropriate size for the Gitzo tripod.

Q: 10. What is the lowest working high after removing the central column For 2545T? Thanks

A: With its included short center column inserted, the tripod gets down to 22 cm.

[Carbon Fiber] I bought this because my GT3530LS is too big to fit in an ordinary suitcase. I was a little concerned that this Traveler was not going to be sturdy enough - but it is, even fully extended. The fold-over legs pack nicely (gotta remove my big Markins ballhead though) and the center column is quite convenient. I did notice some discoloration in the carbon fiber near each of the lock joints but it does not appear to impact the leg itself.

[Removable] Love this tripod! It is light weight at 2.9 pounds and only 17 inches long. I can carry it all day with my Sony aRiv and not get tired. Best investment ever!!!

[3.8 lb] Love this tripod, although not a budget tripod. I had a BeFree photo that just wasn't up to it when I upgraded to a Nikon 850 especially with the 24-70 f2.8 attached which doesn't have a collar. Might have gotten away with just upgrading the ball head but decided to go all in. I paired this we the RRS BH-40 head and it is rock solid even in the New England winter wind. Not a light combo but fits on the outside of my larger camera backpack. Doubt it will fit in overhead space outside a camera bag but I knew it would have to go in my checked bag. I might try just carrying it on as a personal item in addition to my camera bag. Expensive but you do get what you paid for with this item.

[Removable] Although I own several Gitzo tripods, I was looking for something slightly heavier than my series one traveler that is now four years old. I also own a series three Gitzo tripod that is becoming too heavy for me to carry very far. I am in my seventies and arthritic. What I wanted is something to comfortably handle my Wimberly gimbal head and a long lens on a hike. My first Gitzo is now more than twenty years old and still as sturdy as new. The previously mentioned series one is also solid as new, I felt very confident staying with Gitzo with this choice. Turns out this series 2 traveler was the perfect choice. Both light weight and solid. If you are looking for your first tripod or for a replacement; in my opinion, this tripod should be considered. Yes, it may be a little more expensive than others, it may also be the last tripod that you ever buy. Great product and highly recommended.

[Carbon Fiber] This is the beefiest of the Traveler Tripod line. Good enough to hold even 4x5 camera or a long prime on DSLR. Added Sunway ball head EB-36 @ 9 oz.
Great and a good value as they will last the test of time.

[Carbon Fiber] This is the second Gitzo I've purchased from B&H. Out of the box and Wimberley Sidemount Head fitted it is ready for photography and meets all of my expectations of a Gitzo tripod.
With the head removed I can fit these two items in my travel carry-on with my camera gear...perfect!

[Carbon Fiber] Was a bit worried they would be to light with a Sachler video pan head. They set to hold it and my video camera just fine. Love losing pounds .
