The Gitzo GT5533L Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Tripodfrom Gitzo GT5533L Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Tripodis a high capacity carbon fiber tripod that represents the ultimate goals of the Systematic lineup—minimal weight, durability, and uncompromising stability. For those looking for the most stable support system possible, the Series 5 is designed to hold up to some of the most demanding setups with a large top casting and excellent stability.

Within the Series 5 line the GT5533L is given the "Long" designation as it can extend from a minimum height of 3.9", to a maximum height of 57.1", all while maintaining an impressive weight capacity of 92.6 lb. Incorporating Gitzo's patented carbon eXact tubing, the GT5533L sports maximum rigidity while keeping its weight to an absolute minimum. Weighing just 5.8 lb allows the tripod it be easily carried or transported in the studio or out in the field. It's folded length of just 26.8" makes storing or travelling with the tripod easy and convenient.

The Systematic line also features an array of unique, patented, and useful features which set a standard for professional quality. The key design element of the series is the use of Gitzo's Carbon eXact tubes which are extremely rigid despite their lightweight design. The carbon tubing is complimented by Gitzo's G-Lock Ultra twist-locks which maintain stable, solid connections between leg sections and prevent joint damage by blocking out dirt, dust, and moisture. Each leg on the tripod features a 50mm rubber articulating foot, providing a stable and versatile base for setting the tripod on most surfaces. If required, the feet may be removed and replaced with optional metal spikes for increased stability in sand, dirt, mud, snow, and ice. The base of the tripod also features a 3/8"-16 Easy Link attachment thread, allowing the user to connect a variety of accessories to the tripod including magic arms, shoe adapters, LED lights, monitors, and more.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the Gitzo GT 3533 LS be used with the Wimberley WH -200 Gimbal Tripod Head ll when mounted with the AFS Nikon 600 mm ED VR Lens?

A: Yes, it would make a good tripod for birding/wildlife. Depending on your needs, you could also consider a series 4, which would be heavier but also slightly stiffer. https://bhpho.to/2YySIYP

Q: 2. What is the country of origin?

A: country of origin is Italy

Q: 3. Does the GT3543LS include a set of regular rubber feet or just the articulating feet?

A: These Gitzo Tripods comes fitted with the big articulating feet. However, this can be replaced with the included regular rubber feet. This regular feet comes together with the tripod. However the spiked feet does not and must be purchased separately.

Q: 4. Is there lateral arm that works with this tripod? or a right angle bracket like the one for the Systematic Series 5

A: You can use the Gitzo bracket with this tripod and then get a series 4 or 5 center column or you can purchase any lateral arm. Click the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Arms/ci/10829/N/4075788750

Q: 5. Is there an accessory plate to accept a column? I had an older version of this size tripod and like that fact I can so some finer height adjustments.

A: There is a center column available for the 5563, you can click on the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1286945-REG/gitzo_gigs5513s_rapid_center_column.html

Q: 6. is there a center column on this tripod? Will it work with an RRS BH-40 ball head ?

A: No, there is no center column on this tripod. Yeap, it would work well with the BH-40 ballhead. I'd also consider the BH-55 if you're not averse to the size difference between them.

Q: 7. Can I replace one of the legs on this tripod. Mine is stuck and wont unscrew. Not sure if some sand got stuck in it. Can I order a replacement and where? Thanks

A: It is easy to remove a single leg by removing the hex screw at the top. Presumably it is possible to get a single leg replacement direct from Gitzo. If it is just the telescope part of the leg that is stuck it may be possible to loosen it with liberal use of penetrating oil such as WD40 or Lusol, then apply a reasonable amount of force to undo the locking collar. Q: 8. My Benro geared head doesn't fit on the mounting plate. Is there a way to make that work with an accessory?

A: In theory, it should screw on without issue. There is likely more to the problem and we would recommend to reach out via virtual live-chat and we can video conference to help you solve your issues!

Q: 9. What is the working height when the legs are fully extended except for the smallest diameter leg section?

A: It is 46 high to the top of the ball head mount with all but the smallest legs extended. With ball head mount it is 49.50 to where the telescope mounts. Hope this helps.

Q: 10. Can we use manfrotto ball/ joystick head with this tripod?

A: Yes, actually any head will work as long as the female thread on the bottom of the head is 3/8", which is nearly all heads.

[3] IMHO, this is the finest set tripod legs in the industry. I heavily used a Series 5 for approx. 18 years and it still worked like new. Recently (2023) I lost my Series 5 (4 section) tripod legs & RRS BH-55 head because of an idiotic mistake on my part (they're now on the ocean floor). Thankfully they were insured so I replaced them with a new Series 5 (3 section) legs and another RRS BH-55 head. I thought I would prefer the 3 leg sections over the 4 leg sections but, in comparison I think I prefer the 4 section legs. This newer version of the Series 5 is much better than my older version, both in the plate design and the leg joints. Still heavy, but basically indestructible. When I was replacing it, I was thinking about buying an RRS set of legs since they're made in the US, but after comparing I feel the Gitzo legs were a no-brainer decision, even though they cost more & were heavier. I still prefer the RRS BH-55 head but only on Gitzo legs. Unless you make a real bone-head maneuver like I did, these will be the last tripod legs you will need to purchase. As close to perfect as it comes.

[3/8"-16 Male] I shoot a lot of 4 minute exposures and if there's any kind of wind, there's always the risk of camera movement resulting in less than sharp images. Especially if you're shooting slightly longer lenses. Through the website thecentercolumn.com I found that this tripod is one of the sturdiest out there in addition to excellent damping capabilities. For me, buying this tripod was a no brainer. The height of the tripod suits me fine.

Everything with this tripod shows quality and sturdiness. It's extremely well made and the finishing is excellent. In addition it is rock solid. Highly recommended if you don't mind the weight and the folded size.

[3] The Gitzo carbon fiber tripod combines light weight, extreme stability and ease of use. I use it for my telescope and it's so light I can carry it with the mounted telescope out the door in one trip. This has changed my enjoyment of backyard stargazing for the better.

[Removable] I had rough time deciding which tripod to choose as I already own one (taller, more compact). But Im glad I chose this model - 3 sections - its a solid piece of art. Way taller than I need it, so I still have lots of room to play. Works like a charm with RRS BH-55 and Wimberley gimbal.

[3/8"-16 Male] I've always been partial to CF tripods and have had a Series 3 tripod as my heaviest in over 20+ years in this god-forsaken expensive of a hobby. I did not think a 5-series would make a difference for my recent use of tripod, and boy was I wrong when I got this. I probably would have skipped the 3 altogether if I got this one first. My only experience is with Gitzo and I have no idea if the RRS legs are better, howver I have been happy with this one paired with the RRS BH-55.

[Twist Lock] Took me a while to decide which tripod I want. Im glad I got this one. Its not super tall - yet taller than my eye level and I still have room to play after adding ballhead/gimbal and camera. I dont mind it longer lenght when closed.  didnt need anything taller or shorter when closed as I have secondary carbon fiber tripod which is taller and is 4 sections. I really wanted 3 section with thick legs. I really like it.

[31 x 7.5 x 6.7"] Solid, light and easy to set up. It is nice that the tripod comes with a bag that has room for the tripod with a Berlebach 553 head attached, so it can be used to carry the tripod and head in the field; the only improvement I suggest is the addition of a carrying strap or handle to the bag. That would save the cost and extra weight of a carrying case.
