To prevent the camera's shutter from being accidentally released or exposure settings from being unintentionally applied while photographing in the landscape orientation, an on/off switch allows the BG-C14 battery grip's controls to be disabled even while the camera continues to draw power from the installed batteries.

Alternatively, the battery grip can deliver uninterrupted power to a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR with a separately-available Canon ACK-E6 AC Adapter Kit. A: I just use the dedicated batteries from Canon. The Watson battery will sometimes give you an error reading. Even though sometimes you receive a Watson battery with the package, I still recommend using a canon battery. I hope this is somewhat helpful.

A: The battery grip accepts 2 (or only 1 if you wish) of the stock batteries (LP-E6N). It does not take AA or any other kind of batteries like the Canon battery grip that I owned several years ago. I have used it on several long nights of star photography with no issues.
