Telecentric lenses are designed so that the light exiting the rear element is perpendicular to the sensor. Non-telecentric lens designs allow the light to strike the sensor at an angle, which can lead to vignetting at the edge and corners of the sensor. The telecentric design of the lens minimizes vignetting.

This lens incorporates a port for a coaxial lighting device (not included). This setup enables you to illuminate the target area from the position of the lens itself, as opposed to setting up lights adjacent to your target.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. works with blackmagic pocket 4k?

A: Yes, this is an MFT mount lens. It will work well with the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. https://bhpho.to/2Hjgn8q

Q: 2. Do CP.3's allow for a protective filter to be screwed on?

A: No, for any filters you will have to use a matte box.

Q: 3. What is the hyperfocal distance at t 2.9 and focus set at 6 feet? is there a chart to show hyperfocal distance at various focus and Tstop settings?

A: The DOF tables for the ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 lenses can be viewed on the ZEISS website: https://www.zeiss.com/content/dam/camera-lenses/files/service/download-center/depth-of-field-tables/depth-of-field-tables-zeiss-compact-prime-cp3-lenses-feet.pdf

Q: 4. File size limited to 5-minute intervals - 1 hour file size is preferred ?

A: Set the Hanwha Techwin XNB-6001 2MP Network Modular Camera Base Unit BH #HAXNB6001 for continuous recording rather than motion detection event recording in areas where motion detection is frequent. Since the log is recorded once every 5 minutes, the buffered motion detection log data may be damaged when the power is turned off.

Q: 5. What's FOV angle of this lens when used with 2/3 5MP sensor?

A: 2/3 sensor, 8mm lens = FOV H 57.62 degrees, V 4483 degrees.

Q: 6. Is there a 65mm CP3?

A: No, there is not a 65mm version of the ZEISS CP.3 85mm T2.1 Compact Prime Lens (PL Mount, Feet).

Q: 7. I'm looking for a 1:1 custom mount to a 16 mm animation stand camera (ACME - Photo Sonics prism viewfinder camera) Will this lens adapt?

A: The Computar 1.1" 25mm f/2.8 12MP Ultra Low Distortion Lens (C-Mount), should mount and offer compatibility with your camera, as long as it features a C-Mount.

Q: 8. does this also work on super 35 ?

A: Yes it does.

Q: 9. Will this work with the FX3?

A: Yes, the ZEISS CP.3 35mm T2.1 Compact Prime Lens (Sony E Mount, Feet) is compatible with the Sony FX3.

Q: 10. Does this require a locking mechanism in the mount? I’d like to use it on the FX6

A: The ZEISS CP3 lenses incorporate a 3/8" thread support bracket at the bottom of the barrel. This can be tied into a camera support rig to isolate the lens from the camera and prevent any movement in the mount as the focus is racked.

[3.7 oz / 106 g] Love everything about this lens; build quality, weight (light weight) and the optics are perfection. Elevates everything. Fantastic lens.

[3.7 oz / 106 g] This lens is the equivalent of having a set of CP.2 primes in the form factor of a zoom. There's zero focus breathing, beautiful bokeh, beautiful micro contrast. We just used this lens on an Fs7ii for a feature narrative film, and people have been commenting on how great it looks. I thought I would explain why: it's this lens. The focus is smooth, and we kept it mostly at an T4.5 except for a few scenes. You'll definitely want a focus puller if you're wide at 2.9. It's advertised at being a T2.9-3.9, but none of us could tell the difference really. It looked great at all ends of the zoom range. There was no discernible difference in sharpness wide or telephoto (like most zoom lenses out there). Just know that it's very large, and will weigh down your camera. In theory it would work for doc work, but would be a lot to carry, and would probably be intimidating toward subjects. For narrative work on a budget, I can't recommend it enough. it's better contrast, sharpness and focus breathing than the Fujinon MK series, and leaps and bounds better than any photo zoom lens. I can't recommend this enough.

[8.8 µm] I absolutely love the CP.3 lenses. The 85mm is an absolute Beauty. Having a compact, lightweight, well designed, and optically beautiful lens is a huge selling factor for me. I don't buy lenses that aren't build well and these are tanks. Zeiss did an incredible jobs redesigning these. I highly recommend. I use them on the Red Komodo and will soon try them out on the Red Raptor, although I know they will work great with it. Definitely a must buy or rent depending on your job or project. Worth every penny

[3.7 oz / 106 g] This lens is my bread and butter. For all of my client work I need something with a consistent look across the entire aperture range. Up until purchasing this lens my primary client glass was a sigma 24-70 2.8, which although beautiful, got soft when zoomed in to 50mm and under performed in other areas.

Aside from the performance of this lens, there are two things I adore: It's construction and color consistency. Despite being incredibly light, this lens is built like a tank. I travel frequently and it holds up very well. Because Zeiss improved the color rendition in the CP.3 line, I often rent the 85 or 100mm for my b-cam and have a easy time matching up cameras.

Much of my client work requires cropping in substantially (thanks Instagram) and I can comfortably shoot this at it's minimum aperture of T2.1 for a tack sharp image that can be scaled up in post.

I think this lens' greatest competition is the Canon CN-E line, which shoots warm and renders terrible onion skinning on the bokeh. For me this is unforgivable, and I'm happy to see a neutral, clean image coming from the CP.3 line. Assuming this is the look you need, I'm not sure you can get a better lens in this price bracket.

[0.05" / 1.31 mm] These lenses were a dream of ours to own, quite expensive but after having them for a few weeks......wow. We really want to go back and re shoot everything cool we have ever done! The look they have is absolutely awesome......so happy with them. Super easy to work with...and the quality is second to none.

[0.05" / 1.31 mm] I've bought this model before and I was pleased to discover that they include a microphone now! The firmware is also newer and the config webpage works a bit better. Camera is slightly more squared off and less rounded, but overall dimensions are the same.

[4.37" / 111 mm] I got these as an upgrade to the Rokinon lens set I had, and they are crisp and look fantastic! I also plan to use them on a Movi type rig, and the light weight is what sold me on these over the competing Sigma and other brands.
I am keeping the Rokinons for when a client prefers the super soft mushy background look, the overall softness of those lenses will work for those folks.
But when I want a crisp clean image with a reasonable fast lens, I'll be using these. I
