The beige Countryman B6 Omni Lavalier Mic for Shure Wireless Transmittersfrom Countryman B6 Omni Lavalier Mic for Shure Wireless Transmittersis a very small lav microphone measuring one tenth of an inch in diameter with changeable protective caps, which provide moisture resistance and color options. The mic can be used to capture audio for theater, broadcast, churches, and general lavalier applications.

Built with a low handling noise and rugged construction, the B6 lavalier microphone can be easily hidden in hair or on costumes, or taped to a performer's face. The aramid cable and ultra-thin diaphragm deliver a natural sound while its tiny size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection. The B6's cable terminates to a TA4F connector for direct connection to a Shure Axient AX100 wireless bodypack transmitter.

Additionally, swappable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or match other microphones. The B6 microphone is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. These caps can be quickly removed for cleaning or replacement.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B6 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.

The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps, and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.

The B6 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 140 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.

Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a Shure bodypack?

A: This model is only compatible with Line 6 transmitters. For compatibility with Shure transmitters, you want to use B&H # COH7BSL instead.

Q: 2. Any opinions on the Shelved versus Peak frequency response? Do you find this version works okay behind clothes? Most of what I do will be behind clothes, but not always a lot of clothes. I don't want to buy a mic for every situation. In your opinions is it better to record with shelved and add EQ to the high-end later (if needed) or to record peaked and pull back EQ if needed?

A: Countryman describes the difference as follows: "Shelved for normal lavalier use, peaked for use behind clothing." Based on what you wrote you may be better off getting the peaked - as "most" is behind clothes - and you can always EQ back when used in situations where it is not under clothing. It is easier to take out frequencies, than adding missing frequencies. I hope this helps

Q: 3. Is this a stereo mic? My film clip using this mic is audible in only one side of headphones.

A: I think the issue is that you are recording only to one channel (left or right), this is a setting in your camera or recording device. If its a single person, then you want both channels to be using the same mono audio track, if you have two people on the clip, then decide to make them both mono on the 2 channels or alternate the speakers between the two channels. Most likely, you just need to set the camera to record the single input on both channels or in your post editing software, select the audio channel and there should be an option to copy it or reference it for both the left and right channel,

Q: 4. Will this work with the Roland R-07?

A: Yes, this mic will work with the Roland R-07 potable audio recorder. Please make sure the plug-in power for the external mic input is selected.

Q: 5. Can this mic connect to Rode Wireless Filmmaker Transmitter?

A: This mic is designed for Sennheiser transmitters only.

Q: 6. Will this work with the Azden 330UPR dual channel system?

A: This microphone will work with 300 series UHF transmitters: Azden 35BT Portable Wireless Bodypack Transmitter with EX503 Mic B&H # AZ35BT

Q: 7. Will this work with the Roland r-07?

A: The Countryman EMW Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Digital Recorders will work with the Roland R-07 digital recorder. Be sure to turn on the "plug in power" in the menu of the R-07, to send voltage to the microphone.

Q: 8. Will this work with DJI mics?

A: Yes, the Countryman EMW Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Digital Recorders uses a 3.5mm TRS plug and only requires 1.5 volts of plug-in power. It will work with the DJI mic wireless transmitter, as well as similar models like the RODE Wireless GO II. Countryman also offers the EMW mics in other configurations (for a hard-wired XLR connection) and in a range of compatibility options for use with many other wireless systems that are available.

Q: 9. Will this lavalier work with Rycote Undercovers?

A: The Rycote Undercover - Lavalier Wind Cover and Adhesive Mount - B&H # RYUC will work with this mic.

Q: 10. I am new to audio recording. I heard this requires phantom power. is phantom power the same for most audio recorders? Specifically, I have a Zoom H6. would all I need to do to make the Countryman lapel work is turn on Phantom Power? Or does it require another purchase to give it power?

A: You are correct that it needs Phantom power. The H6 - and most other recorders that spot an XLR mic input - will provide Phantom power and no additional hardware will be required to power this mic.
