Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. where are these lenses manufactured?

A: Following unit is made in Germany.

Q: 2. Is it plastic or metal?

A: Metal, and quite a heavy lens too. It's twice as heavy as my tiny Lumix GM1 camera, which makes it a bit uncomfortable to use!

Q: 3. Is this a full-frame lens for E-mount camera?

A: Yes, this is a full frame Sony E-mount lens.

Q: 4. Is this similar to a Rokinon Cine lens? What is the difference with a Cine lens?

A: It is a basic photography manual focus lens, you can use it for video but with limited movement because the focus is very sensitive, Cine lenses usually much bigger in size, and they come with smooth focus. but The Mistaken advantage is the F/0.95

Q: 5. Does this lens transmit EXIF data to the camera?

A: I'm sorry, no, it does not.

Q: 6. Sirs, will this cover the newest (RED) Dragon 8K sensor? Or will there be vignetting? Thank you in advance.

A: The RED Dragon 8K sensor has an image diameter of 46.1mm. The Schneider Xenon FF 25mm T2.1 Lens is designed to cover a Full Frame image diameter of 43.4mm. There will be vignetting.

Q: 7. Is it compatible with Panasonic GX85?

A: Yes it should. Whatever Micro Four Third mount camera should be compatible.

Q: 8. Does it have auto-iris? That is, can I focus with the lens wide open, even if the camera is set to shoot at (say) f/2.8? I had some old manual lenses that need to be stopped down manually after focusing wide open. Is this one of those?

A: No, there is no auto iris functionality on this lens. You probably would not need it as the m43 cameras EVF should auto gain to the point you can see the correct exposure. This should aid in proper use of peaking and magnification for the manual focus confirmation.

Q: 9. What size lens hoods and filters does this lens take? Thanks.

A: The front thread of the Schneider XENON 17mm f/0.95 C-Mount Lens accepts 35.5m filters. Go to http://bhpho.to/1cxHEQT, select the type of filter you need, and select 35.5mm from the search filter on the left for a listing of what we have available in that size. There are step-down filter rings that you can use if you have larger diameter filters you wish to use. Also see attached the one 35.5mm lens hood we have available.

Q: 10. Can I use this lens (Schneider XENON 17mm f/0.95) with Bolex REX5? It seems to me that c-mount is too high. Thanks.

A: They both share the same mount and would work

[23.6" (0.6 m)] This is the best EF Cine wide-angle lens that I have seen to date. And the color rendition matches perfectly with the other Xenon FF Lenses that we use.

[f/0.95] I use this on a GH5 and I'm impressed. Sharpness at f.95 looks very good, especially center of frame. I was using the Canon 1.8 STM 50mm with a Viltrox EF-M2 lens adapter, which allowed me to stop down to f1.3, but the image I was getting was fairly soft. Bought this to replace it, albeit a bit wider than the 50mm (1.6x crop w/ Viltrox) but the image looks much sharper. Was also impressed with the build quality. It's a compact lens but it has some weight to it. Feels very sturdy and aperture and focus rings turn smoothly with clickless aperture. All and all, I would definitely recommend for someone that may be a little skeptical because of the price. Oh yeah, the little case it ships in is a nice touch, too.

[1" CCD] I very go out of my way to write reviews, but this time I had to make an exception. I bought the 7artisans 25mm f0.95 on sale, but I would say it's well worth the full retail price. There is nothing like this available for the X mount or any APSC camera for that matter. The pictures that come out of this resemble something out of a medium format camera. The wide angle 3d pop from this lens is unparalleled. If you know what you are doing, this will make your pictures stand out.

The lens is super heavy chunk of glass and metal and the images aren't even close to sharp wide open at minimum distances, but get respectably sharp a few feet away. The lens gets razor sharp by f5.6 and has no distortion. This is also a real T1.05 lens, which means it can make your camera act like a night vision device. Wide open its so bright that it overexposes even night shots. The only thing I did not like about the lens is it gets horrible flares when pointing at bright light sources at night.

For reference I have the XF 23mm 1.4 R and the Nokton 23mm f1.2 as well. While being sharper than the 7artisans, neither of those lenses can even come close in the vintage 3d look you get with the 0.95

Absolutely highly recommended!

[C-Mount] Hard to beat for the cost. fast, cheap and in control - even wide open. Paired with GH5 in body stabilizer and 1250 iso I can shoot in places my GH4 could not go.

[25mm] I tested this against the SLR Magic 25mm fast prime and it was noticeably sharper wide open. Its compact but built like a tank, similar to a Leica M lens. Lovely Bokeh at F.95, very shallow depth of field even with a M4/3 sensor. I think this lens is a bargain for the price.

[C-Mount] I am thrilled and excited to work with this new lens, I went into the store to buy another lens but when I experienced the high quality of this lens I bought it on the spot and have not regretted it. It is sharp, fast, and brilliantly crafted. Years ago I used to use a Leica camera and I had the same kind of thrill with the lens, it is worth the money to get such excellence.

[25mm] this is a fantastic lens, wide enought in FF and medium wide in S35, great rendition, very sharp, like it a lot

[25mm] A quality lens for the price, sharp images, bright in low light, great DOF. DOF is actually too extreme for some shots, but works well in the right shot. I enjoy these manual controls. I will use this more for stills, and likely stick with my Lumix 12-60 Dual OIS lens for video most of the time. Using this lens makes me more interested in going out to shoot and try interesting shots, and that pushes me to better results.
