Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could I put this on a Micro 4/3rds camera w/Flip out OLED display (and telephoto lens)??

A: The Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm will fit on the front of the lens as long as your lens is between 75mm and 100mm in outside diameter. The filter would not be near the camera so it would not affect the use of the a flip screen.

Q: 2. will this be useable on the celestron skymaster 15-70mm binoculars?

A: I do not recommend using the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm on the Celestron Skymaster 15x70 binoculars. Please follow the link below leading to a better alternative. https://bit.ly/3HLFgY6 I recommend using extreme caution while using any folded design filters on a windy day.

Q: 3. What is needed to mount a Sony a77 Mark II DSLR camera to the Celestron 6SE telescope? Thanks.

A: Celestron does not offer a camera adapter for the Sony a77 Mark II DSLR. Please contact https://www.telescopeadapters.com/ for the proper specialized adapter.

Q: 4. Can you plug a computer laptop into the 6SE to view and record images?

A: You can attach a camera or planetary imaging camera such as NexImage or Skyris to your telescope and have it attached to your laptop for live recording or viewing.

Q: 5. Does this fit STARSENSE EXPLORER DX 130AZ? Thanks in advance.

A: Yes. The Celestron EclipSmart White-Light Solar Filter for 127/130mm Reflector OTAs will fit the Celestron DX130AZ telescope.

Q: 6. I currently have an Orion Spaceprobe 130 ST which I am just learning to use. I am taking an astronomy class which uses Celestron NexStar 5 SE scopes, which I really like. I am sure that I will be buying a NexStar in the next year. I really like the idea of the computer finding objects for me while I am learning the sky. Right now, I am trying to decide between a NexStar 6 or NexStar 8. My major interests are deep sky objects and binary stars. I am not interested in astrophotography. I know the major tradeoffs are aperture and portability. Any suggestions for me in guiding my choice?

A: Honestly I would go with the bigger aperture. Especially since you are going to be shooting some Astrophotography. Personally I would do the 8 Model. It's the better option hands down.

Q: 7. Can the OTA be used with a different mount?

A: Absolutely. The OTA of this tube removes from the base of the SE mount easily. You could then attach the 8 Inch OTA to any other mount that excepts a standard V Style dovetail.

Q: 8. Any chance to fit Sky-Watcher 70mm ?

A: We created the Eclipsmart Solar Filters to be perfectly fit on Celestron telescopes. I can not say with any certainty that they will fit another telescope outside Celestron's

Q: 9. Could I put this on a Micro 4/3rds camera w/Flip out OLED display (and telephoto lens)??

A: The Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm, is technically too big a filter for most Micro Four Thirds camera lenses. If you had a lens that was as big as 62mm- 72mm filter mount , you could use the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm.You may need to use some gaffers tape to keep it in place.

Q: 10. Celestron says “ Never use this filter if your camera has an optical viewfinder.” Does that mean to not use it on a Nikon D500?

A: Because the Nikon D500 viewfinder is looking through the lens that is filtered, it is safe to use the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm with your camera.

[0.205 lb] Not much to say other than it works as intended. It also fits perfectly on my 127mm reflector, I don't even need the velcro that comes with it. The only way this could be better was if it came with a solar filter for the finderscope.

[0.205 lb] This solar filter is a great buy. I am going to use it on my astroseeker 70az during the Aug. 21 eclipse. It didn't fit perfectly (probably because it is made for the power seeker models) but still fit on and i secured it with 3 strips of duct tape so it wouldn't pop off accidentally. I had no problems with it in the heat but I wouldn't recommend to use it on a really hot day for to long as it can warp and eventually break. Just remember to be safe.

[1.0 oz / 29.0 g] Arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. Applies and removes from telescope easily. This is my first solar filter, so have nothing to compare to, but appears to filter out the harmful rays and provide a nice image.

[0.205 lb] This solar filter is just great. I used it on my astroseeker 70az. It isn't made for this model of telescope but it fit over the end with some assistance from duct tape. Even if it didn't need the duct tape to stay on, I still recommend it for safety. Also, don't use it for too long on a particularly hot and sunny day for too long because the filter could have a chance of warping or even breaking. Overall, wonderful product recommended to anyone who wants to see sun spots or the eclipse close up.

[0.205 lb] Bought this filter for the 2024 eclipse. It worked great. Would have been even better if the cloud cover wasn’t so bad in my location. But with the filter I was able to get a few photos between patches of clouds! Love it. Great product.
