Plume Wafer Hexoval 180 Softbox
- Product Code: eq4113
-
The Wafer's crisp but smooth quality of light places its performance apart from any other diffusion bank. The Wafer can quickly change to meet the differences in lighting style and taste required by individual photographers and specific subjects.
Each of the two inner baffles has its own graduated pattern. The flattened Wafer profile results from using a combination of an aluminum tent tube with a fibreglass fishing rod. Inner baffles, rear closures and ring adapters are all interchangeable.
This is a special six-sided "oval" hexagon shaped lightbank to better match the shape of the human face in fashion and portraits. An optional oval mask diffuser is also available.
NOTE: Plume Softboxes MUST be used with Plume speed rings. This softbox uses 6 wands to create its shape. Two "widgets" are included to mount the 5th and 6th wands to a Plume speed ring. The speed ring is NOT included.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does this rail have laser etched or painted on marks?
A: I'm not sure how to tell the difference between painted and laser etched, yet the numbers that are present (on each side of the rail, as well as the top) appear to be high quality and durable. The nodal rail also has a nice feel (weight) in the hand, and is solidly well constructed. I'd recommend the purchase. The only thing missing is a marker system to mark your settings once you've establish them for your particular lens. My work around for this has been some black electrical tape to mark my key positions, or to write the numbers down on some paper I keep with me.
Q: 2. I have this softbox and one of the poles has broken. Do you know where can I get a replacement? And a spare?
A: To obtain replacement rods, it is best to contact the manufacturer directly. Please see the following link. http://bit.ly/2AnFUqe
Q: 3. Is this camera new with USA warranty?
A: Yes - I bought one about 1 yr ago. Like it's size and takes nice photos. Important to me is Canon brand as I like the quality of Canon lens in their cameras.
Q: 4. Is this rail able to be mounted in an arca-swiss style panning clamp (like the Really Right Stuff PCL-1)? That is, I can mount this rail on an arca-swiss style panning clamp and then mount my DSLR to the rail -also with an arca-swiss style L-bracket? Thanks.
A: Short answer, yes. That's pretty much how I use mine - the rail is profiled like an Arca plate so goes on the tripod mount then the camera L-plate mounts on the end of the rail. Depending on your lens, I'd consider a longer rail than this one. I ummmed and aaaahed about this and a 200mm rail and should have got the longer one. When I align my lens nodal point with the tripod, this rail only sits about 3/4 of the way through the Arca bracket on the tripod. It's very dependent on lens, of course, so worth checking where the nodal point on your lens is first prior to buying.
Q: 5. what stores carry the camera?
A: Personally, if I can find the product I want at a competitive price (after on-line shopping) I do not use retail stores. B&H has always been my go to place--good prices, good service, quick delivery, and good customer support if ever needed. A personal shopping choice that might not appeal to everyone.
Q: 6. Anybody use this for Macro photography? I'm concerned the clamp isn't strong enough to support the camera hanging over the end. I use a D300 with 105 mm Macro. Also the Kirk rail clamp rotates, but this doesn't. Any comments on this lack of function?
A: The ramp is plenty strong enough to support the camera/lens combination, but is your tripod head stable enough?
Q: 7. Hello, with this Nodal Rail is nothing more necessary? I mean, do I put the Nodal Rail on my tripod, and can I use it for panoramic photographs? Or do I need to buy something else to complement it with the Nodal Rail?
A: You would need two of the other rails to build the full panoramic shooting rig. An easier alternative would be to get an L-Bracket and a tripod head that pans.
Q: 8. Anyone please tell me the actual depth of this box? The specs on this site aren't making sense.
A: As per the manufacturer, the depth of this softbox is 20"
Q: 9. Does this camera include the cable to upload to computer?
A: It appears you can order the camera with the deluxe kit and get a cable with it ... or order the cable separately for $15.
Q: 10. What are the pairs of holes down the length of the rail for?
A: They are additional threaded mounting points if needed
