A: This is a manual lens, so, to get the focus point, you need to move the camera or the object.The focusing rail todo this, to move the camera back and forward instead finding the focus.

A: It appears to be the case but I've only tried the lens once. It has no dial to focus, just one for aperture and one for the strength of the macro. It is really close up and amazing but probably needs to be on a tripod or use a high shutter speed. I was moving too much so my first tries weren't as sharp as I'd like but I can see great potential with this lens.
