The black Countryman B6 Lavalier Mic for Zoom Recorders, Mid Gain, Blackfrom Countryman B6 Lavalier Mic for Zoom Recorders, Mid Gain, Blackis a miniature lavalier microphone measuring only 0.1" in diameter. It features a 3.5mm locking connector and connects to select Zoom recorders with audio on the left channel. The B6 microphone provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 130 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable, combined with the ultra-thin diaphragm, ensures low handling noise. The tiny size, combined with natural sound pickup, makes the microphone easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.

The included changeable protective caps (+0, +4, and +8 dB) provide moisture resistance and allow you to adjust the frequency response to suit different applications or to match other microphones. Each of the three omni caps has a different high-frequency response characteristic that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This microphone ships with the +4 dB protective cap attached, which boosts the perceived amount of presence in your sound while leaving the lower frequencies unchanged. You can switch to the 0 dB cap in case of problems when using this microphone with high-frequency feedback.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the Bit-depth and Frequency that it records at?

A: That is dependent on the recorder being used with this capsule. When using this with the H5 or H6 recorder, you can record at 24 bit, up to 96k sample rate.

Q: 2. This zoom mid side microphone while looking like the one in the box for the h6 is a specifically mid side microphone, and is therefore a solution ? Just looking at mid side processing, and this is a appropriate solution? Stefan....

A: This mid side capsule works with the Zoom H5 and H6 portable recorders, and features two mic elements - one is a middle unidirectional mic that faces forward and one bi-directional side mic that is perpendicular to the first. This set-up enables the "mid-side" recording style, where signals from the center and ambient sounds from the sides can be combined to make the stereo image more narrow or wide.

Q: 3. What is the Signal-To-Noise Ratio for this?

A: At this time, the SNR is not specified by the manufacturer.

Q: 4. When using this in RAW (mid and side recorded separately, to balance later in post, rather than blending while recording) on the H5, can the H5 still record a second back-up track at reduced gain? From the little I've read on the tech of mid-side, I'm thinking it could work: capsule's stereo file 1 of 2 is mono-mid on left channel and mono-side on right channel, leaving capsule's stereo file 2 of 2 to record same at -12dB. Good guess, or wishful thinking?

A: Yes!

Q: 5. Would this works with a Zaxcom Trx900lt?

A: The correct one for your zaxcom is catalog number B3W4FF05BZX. If you can’t find it online, you can call in to order it over the phone.

Q: 6. The 3 different kinds of Hirose connection are selectable (DS, SO, and SY), and it says "see Description", yet the Description says nothing about these designations. Could you clarify?

A: Sorry for the confusion. Once you select a given connector, the second paragraph in the "overview section" will specify which transmitters they are compatible with. SN = Sony WRT-805A and UWP Series Transmitters DS = Sony DWT-B01 SO = Sony WRT-28, WRT-820A, or WRT-860A SY = Sony WRT-8B, WRT-420, or WRT-822B I hope this helps

Q: 7. Is it compatible with the new H8 ?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. Does it work with Sony UTX-B40?

A: Yes, this microphone was designed to be compatible with the Sony wireless systems including the UTX-B40.

Q: 9. Which one do you prefer B3 or B6?

A: It truly depends on your application. A B6 is great when you need to hide it into clothing or a wig for theater and show productions. B3's great for most standard applications such as interviews, plant mics, etc.

Q: 10. Does this, like the Zoom SSH-6 Stereo Shotgun Microphone Capsule, allow the H5 to record in RAW, to allow mid-side balance in post?

A: Yes!
