Q: 1. I already own some expensive heavy duty Atlas mic stands. I would like to consider the Triad Orbit quick change adapter as a means to quickly detach my boom from the stand itself. My booms have two pound counter weights and I generally use these stands for some very heavy and expensive condenser Mics. Does this adapter hold firmly and securely with no worry of vibration due to a loose or even slightly wobbly connection ? Because these 7/8 diameter mic stand setups weigh over twenty pounds total, I would like to be able to achieve rapid setup and takedown that they may also serve as stage performance stands. I realize that my question is lengthy. But, I think that the information given should be considered when looking to purchase a 40$ adapter. Thank you.

A: Hey Raymond,Thanks for your inquiry. The Triad-Orbit IO-R Quick-Change Coupler was designed and purpose-built for professional support applications. IO-R will provide solid, vibration-free coupling for your Atlas large format stands (MS20, MS25, MS43, SB36) and PB booms. Please refer to the PROfile videos on the Triad-Orbit website to see the IO-R in action at some of the world's finest recording facilities (a href= http://www.triad-orbit.com/profile target= _blank http://www.triad-orbit.com/profile/a).The IO-R ships with an IO-H1 hex mounting head. The hex shaft of the IO-H1 is made of brass. For heavy-duty and inverted support applications, we recommend the use of the IO-H2 hex mounting head. The IO-H2 features a stainless steel hex shaft and a SafetyStop notch to prevent accidental uncoupling. Incorporating the IO-H2 head with IO-R coupler will allow you to safely support, secure, suspend and position heavy studio mic like AEA & vintage RCA.Compare the performance of the Triad-Orbit IO-R/IO-H2 combo to any competitive quick-change couplers for your demanding application. Also, our new IO-RA lightweight aluminum body quick-change coupler is also available at only $20.00. Thanks for your interest in Triad-Orbit Advanced Stand Systems.

Q: 2. Is the IO-H2 5/8" Mounting version compatible with the IO-R Quick-Change IO-R Quick-Change Coupler Retrofit Kit? Want to set up a SM7B, Beta 58a, and Rode Procaster to easily swap on and off a Tama 5/8 thread MS756RELBK boom stand.

A: Yes. The IO-H2 5/8" Mounting Head from Triad-Orbit allows you to integrate 5/8" threaded gear to one of their IO-equipped stands or mounts, and is designed for added weight handling capacity.

Q: 3. Is there a similar stand - with a squeeze-handle for raising and lowering, for a video camera? Cam. is just a few lb.

A: We do not offer a tripod stand system similar to the Triad-Orbit T3C Rolling Tripod Stand and VESA Video Display Mount Kit (B&H # TRT3CMK) (B&H Kit), that features a squeeze handle colum lock release.

Q: 4. What is the load capacity of the T2 tripod?

A: Dear Chris,Thank you for your inquiry. Our Triad stands are rated to hold up to 35lbs (16kgs) before the top tube may start to lower. However, depending on how much you tighten the top clutch, you may see a lower or higher capacity. I hope that this answers your question, but if it doesn't, please let me know and we will find the right solution.Sincerely,Richard CarriganTriad-Orbit Support Teama href= http://www.Triad-Orbit.com target= _blank www.Triad-Orbit.com/a

[1.695 lb] If you care about your expensive microphones, then use these reliable quick mounts that actually work and stay seated.

Don’t get knock offs or cheap stuff, you’ll regret it.

These clicks in easily and sits snug, it’s easy to swap and the quality is fantastic.

[1.695 lb] If you have a need for quick disconnect - these are great. They feel very solid and snug. I am using mic stands to hold headphone amps next to stage performers for wired IEMs. I didn't want to have to spin the whole headphone amp in circles for mounting/unmounting them. So this was a perfect solution.

[1.695 lb] The second review here could not be more incorrect. I mean if you're going to take the time to review something and go to the extent of weights and measurements, you might want to actually read the instructions.
The 5/8 female thread that mounts to traditional stands threads right on. And the IO-RA is the only adapter that locks down on the stand so it does not spin off. This is the hex he references. No one would be doing this at a gig. The IO-RA are loaded on stands before use and remands on the stands. It does include a female 3/8 adapter for Euro threads.
It takes absolutely no effort to push the IO head in to the IO-RA. And they have lots of different heads for mics, cameras lights and more.
What he said about mic damage is just straight out false. It's an easy one hand push. I work in LA. Warner Brothers, FOX, Capitol Records and most major rooms here have made the conversion.

Triad-Orbit release this adapter in 2012. 6 years before Gator copied it. I'm sure they will hear from Triad-Orbit about this at some point.

If you're a discerning audio engineer you should check out Triad-Orbit as they have really reinvented the mic stand category. Oh, and they work in video production just as well.

[1.695 lb] I provide sound for a variety of bands, and these quick-release couplers save a lot of time. They are very well built and provide a solid, tight fitting between the mic and stand. They add a couple of inches to the stand (or boom), but so far this hasn't presented any problems; in fact, the slightly longer booms come in handy from time to time when you need a little extra reach (like rigging vocals for a grand piano).
It would be nice if the separately available mounting heads (IO-H) were also available in a lower-priced multipack. Purchased individually they cost 75% of the entire assembly.

[1.695 lb] Simple connector to the additional Triad-Orbit mic boom I have. Works as I knew it would to quickly switch mic positions with the QD connector.

[1.695 lb] The logic behind this product is pure simplicity. If you are working gigs regularly, it's easy to see how much time and fiddling you'll save by not having to thread on (and off) dozens of microphone clips per job. Plus, it will eliminate the possibility of damaging the fine 5/8-27 threads from accidental cross-threading. The hex-shaped pin prevents the microphone from spinning / loosening itself when attached horizontally to a boom arm. And Triad-Orbit was smart enough to make this work with any standard mic stand or boom -- not some proprietary hardware attachment. They provide adaptors for 3/8 European threaded stands, and a 1/4-20 threaded stud for cameras -- plus an extra set of set screws in case you lose any in the backstage darkness!

I was impressed with the high-quality packaging, and the couplers themselves seem to be manufactured to a high standard. I've never regretted buying high quality tools, and this is no exception. I'll be buying more.

[1.695 lb] Great product. The item weighs heavier than expected. Do take note it adds quite abit of extra length, about 2 inches or so. Otherwise feels rugged and seems like it will last.
