This Hoya 55mm HMC Close-Up Filter Set II +1 +2 +4offers the ability to achieve macro-like results with camera lenses that have 55mm front filter threads. A close-up filter is a magnifier that optically decreases the focal length of a camera lens placed behind it. This effect lessens the minimum focus distance between the camera lens and a subject. Magnification can then be obtained by decreasing the distance between the subject and the combined camera lens and close-up filter.

The magnifying power of a close-up filter is indicated by its diopter strength. A close-up filter with a higher diopter number provides more relative magnification and can be combined with other close-up filters to increase, or fine-tune the macro effect. These close-up filters have diopter strengths of +1, +2, and +4.

Each surface of the filters in this Hoya HMC Close-Up Filter Set II is constructed from optical glass which includes three layers of anti-reflection coatings that offer improved clarity as well as more effective prevention of internal ghosting and reflections. These close-up filters each provide approximately 97% average light transmission and feature an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.

[0.55 lb] I did not want to spend money on buying a macro lens that I seldomly use, so I purchased this filter kit instead, it works great and it turns any lens I have into a macro lens. I prefer to use this kit on my Nikon 24-120 f4.

[0.55 lb] Ordered this filter set to use with my Mamiya cC33. So I could focus closer to my subject-flowers. I chose Hoya because they are multicoated, reducing the possibility of flare, and transmitting more light. I have used Hoya filters for most of my photographic life, and was confident from my experience that this set would be most beneficial.

[Multi Coated] I have not used them much as I just got them. However, the images I have made are popular at my photo site, some with crystal clarity and some with a misty fairytale look. They are fun to use, fit the camera perfectly, and will stack for more stages of magnification. So far I find no fault with them.
