[0.3 lb] Best option for a small DSLR Camera. Originally bought a Kessler Short moun,t but it was longer than needed for my Panasonic DMC- FZ1000 camera. In addition, the Short mount comes with both 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 mounting screws: Because the slot for the screw has to accomodate both screws, the 1/4-20 screw falls out of the slot when removed from the camera. The mount must be removed from the camera to change the battery or memory card to allow the access door to open. There is risk of losing the screw in the field when opening the access door. The Kwik Mini plate fits better, has only the 1/4-20 screw for the camera (which does NOT fall out of the mount) and provides about 3/4 inch slide adjustment. Much better choice for camera mounting.

[Threads] great quality and very sturdy. I do not have to worry about gear coming loose. Easy to install and operate. I use it to attach a Kessler pocket jib traveler to my benro sticks and never have had a problem. I just picked up a slider plate for it and it works great.

[0.3 lb] This is a solid, very strong block of precisely machined aluminum which fits ultra sturdy into the Kessler Kwik Receiver. Pro tip: suppose you mount the plate to the base of a tripod head, jib, or slider using a single 3/8-inch threaded connection through the center of the Kessler plate. With sufficient torque, the head/jib/slider could potentially spin or unscrew/loosen (this concern applies to any manufacturer, not just Kessler). To help prevent this, get yourself a couple of short 1/4-inch set screws (a.k.a. grub screws) and thread them into the 1/4-inch holes in the Kessler plate (from the bottom) until they secure against the base of your head/jib/slider. Now you've created a clamping force that makes it much harder for the head/jib/slider to spin on the plate.

[Threads] These are about the best utility plates I've seen. Very heavy duty. I use them to hold my 5 x 7 and 8 x 10 view cameras,


My only quibble is that there's no 1/4inch hole on the centerline. The provided 1/4 - 20 machine screws will work, but they should be just a tiny bit longer IMHO so there is at least 2 or three full thread engagement in the camera tripod socket.

[6.5 x 5 x 0.6"] One of the best 15mm baseplate. Love the weight and built-in stand with arca plate underneath. Only thing I don't like is needing to use a hex wrench to secure the rods unlike many other baseplates that can tighten and secure with just with a lever.

[0.3 lb] I wrote the wrong review for another Kessler base plate, this is the one I wanted to talk about. I have a HEAVY RED rig and all Kessler Base Plate snap-lock systems on all tripods and Steadicam rigs. The other reviewer might have had an issue with his actual rod diameters, but this locks down onto 15mm carbon rails nicely. The plate locks into a baseplate easily, the rubber feet ensure a heavy rig will not tip and the rubber feet plant solidly! A must for a rodded heavy rig.

[0.3 lb] We purchased this plate to go with our Kessler short slider. We also purchased a medium length quick plate for our camera and the received unit for our tripod. Honestly, I don't know why tripod manufacturers don't copy Kessler. This is the BEST way to go! So called "quick release plates" that slide on and off tripods are fine but this is MUCH BETTER!!! You just put your camera on it and gently push down...click, and it's on the tripod safely. Slide it back and forth to get the perfect balance, flip the lever to lock and you're ready to go. To remove, release the locking lever, push a button and lift your camera off. Easy. Got a slider? Same thing to lock it on to your tripod. We will never go back to the old way. I highly recommend this and all the items related to this system.
