Designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras, this lens provides a 32mm equivalent focal length.

Specialized super macro lens is designed for working with close-up subjects and provides a maximum magnification of 4.5x and a minimum magnification of 4.0x.

Minimum working distance (distance from front of lens to subject) is 0.8"; the lens does not offer infinity focus.

Manual focus control for fine-tuning focus position and a manually adjustable aperture ranges from f/2 to f/16 for adjusting exposure and depth of field.

Six elements in four groups optical design provides consistent edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination.

Wide-angle focal length pairs with the high magnification range for producing dynamic compositions.

Metal lens barrel is both rigid and durable.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to shoot handheld macro images with this lense? Or does it need to be on a tripod in order to get a clear image?

A: Because of the fixed 20mm focusing distance, it requires the use of a macro focusing rail that allows you to make tiny changes in the distance between the camera and the stationary subject (that is, you are moving the camera back and forth to focus). Due to this limitation, your subject either needs to be a flat object or, if three-dimensional like an insect, dead. You'll also need a strong light source and "focus-stacking" software, which combines multiple single-plane images into a final photograph that shows greater depth of field. Please see examples of focus-stacked images included in the reviews for this lens, and note just how small an area the lens actually covers. This lens is actually more in the realm of photomicrography than macro photography. If you want to try hand-held macro photography, Nikon makes an excellent 100mm f/2.8 VR macro lens that would better suit your needs.

Q: 2. Am I missing something? A minimum focus distance is given but I don't see anything about the maximum focus distance. So, what is it?

A: This lens is for very close-up, high magnification macro photos. The minimum and maximum distance are only a couple mm difference to the point they are practically identical.

Q: 3. I attached this lens to my Panasonic Lumix GH5 and in manual mode I am not seeing any image through the viewfinder. What am I doing incorrectly? Thank you.

A: Assuming you have set the camera to shoot with out a lens , make sure you adjust the f-stop and ISO and shutter speed to the lighting situation and that will do it

Q: 4. Does it work with the a7rII?

A: Yes, this lens works with the A7R2.

Q: 5. could I use this for a video camera and it still look nice

A: Don't know, but since macro lens with very critical focus requirement would say no.

Q: 6. would this lens work on a D850?

A: Yes.

Q: 7. Presumably one could use the Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter to attach it to an A7R? And it would still be full frame? thanks

A: Yes, you can use this lens with the Sony A-Mount to E-mount adapter on the A7R and it will still be full frame.

Q: 8. how do I get the lens cap off ?

A: It doesn't screw on so just pop it off with your fingernail. It fits snugly when you put it back on. Hope this helps.

Q: 9. Does the lens work with the focus stacking function in the Xt-2 or would you have to move the subject for focus stacking? (subject shoud be on some kind of adjustable track I assume)

A: You have to manually focus or move the camera or the subject for focus stacking.

Q: 10. Hello. Does the lens work on a full-frame a7iii camera

A: No, you would need this E mount version: https://bhpho.to/2PEgQ7h

[f/2] To achieve great results with this lens requires patience, some small experience and some dedicated macro gear. I like to get the lens in rough focus with my focusing rail then achieve critical focus and image placement with an XYZ stage and a rotating tilt/tip stage. As you would expect, a good stacking software like Zerene Stacker is necessary unless you are shooting flat subjects. All these things are not essential but they certainly make life easier. I have used a number of light sources but a simple continuous 2 LED light system on flexible goosenecks works about as good as much more complex and expensive systems for my purposes. Such inexpensive systems are available from B&H. It is helpful to study and understand how high magnification macro works and couple that with endless patiences with the emphasis on patience in order to achieve good results. Do these things and you will achieve results that will knock your socks off.

[Canon EF-M] Really, really, really small DOF! Needed a good focusing rail to use it properly, but, what pictures!

[3] I'm very glad I got this lens, especially since the price was hard to beat during a pre-holiday sale. As others have said, this is a fixed-focus lens, so ideally the camera is on a focussing rail and your object is motionless. You also need to have a good lighting setup.

When I received the lens, I did a quick test shoot with my camera on a "Velbon Super Mag Slider". As luck would have it, my kids just noticed a new stick insect hatching, so I used it as a test subject.

I had an external flash to one side of the insect, a reflector on the other. (Should have reversed the direction, but this was just a quick test.) I then manually advanced the focussing rail in about 30 steps to shoot a stack, which I combined into one image using the default settings on Helicon focus stacking software. Pretty happy with the results!

So yes, this is a great lens for a studio setup. I can't imagine many instances where you wouldn't need focus stacking software to overcome the shallow DOF. Not sure it would ever be of much use outside.

[f/2] Works much like others have said. The focus depth is minuscule so you'll likely combine several photos even with something you find to be relatively flat. You'll likely end up like I did, scavenging your house for interesting object to photograph at a microscopic level. Not sure it is something I'll use a lot, but fun nonetheless. I think you could get away without using a macrorail, but a tripod is a must and likely will want to set up a sturdy table that you can set things in front of the lens as opposed to moving the camera around to various objects if able to do so. I wouldn't say it produces the sharpest photos in the world but can't complain for the price. I attached a couple of my shots so you get an idea of the scale of objects we are talking about.

[f/16] I just got this for my GH5 and love it. I have always liked macro photography and macro film and want to attempt it properly. You will need a tripod, possibly some lighting, and a lot of small detailed objects to photograph!

[Manual Focus] I cannot believe the quality of this macro lens for the price, I'm getting excellent/sharp still and even video with it attached to a Black Magic Pocket Cinema 4K -- be careful though, this lens is ONLY for macro and will be of no use for any other purpose.

[Manual Focus] This lens is amazing, the one people to keep in mind is that is a manual focus. You definitely a great tripod to this to minmkze shake. The images I have taken so far give you a feel of going to another world as the amount amplification really takes you in. You will need good lighting and a some sort of trigger, so make sure you are prepared before buying this lens.
