The gray Neumann KH 80 DSP is a 2-way active studio monitor well suited for near-field monitoring and multichannel setups in music studios, broadcast centers and vans, as well as home studios and desktop audio applications. The KH 80 utilizes two amplifiers (120W and 70W) to power the 4" woofer and 1" tweeter respectively, an onboard DSP engine, a Mathematically Modeled Dispersion waveguide (MMD), an analog input, and an extensive range of optional mounting hardware. The DSP function is accessed via a standard IP network connection that allows the monitoring system to be controlled using the Neumann.Control app, which runs on a Windows/Mac computer or iOS/Android tablet. With the use of the latest acoustic and electronic simulation and measurement technologies, the KH 80 can be used in diverse acoustical conditions with any source equipment and in a wide variety of physical locations, ensuring accurate sound reproduction.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the best way to attach this to my MBP? I'm doing video editing and I don't have any Mixers / USB audio interface stuff. I just have the 1/8 inch headphone jack....

A: You can use a cable to connect from the headphone jack in your Mac Book Pro to the back of this monitor. However your audio will sound nicer if you intergrade a audio interface to the setup. The cable you will need to connect two of the Genelecs to the computer is in the link bellow. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1102499-REG/hosa_technology_hmx_010y_1_8_stereo_mini_to.html

Q: 2. Volume ntrol? Seems there is no knob on speaker..... how can you control volume? If I need external control, who makes the best?

A: There is not a volume control. although there is an input sensitivity control. The best way to control volume is by using a Mackie Big Knob: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1313074-REG/mackie_big_knob_passive_studio.html

Q: 3. Which Genelec model is suitable for studios of size 50X23X13(Ft)?

A: That would really depend on your listening area. 8030's with a sub work work for one to two people in the listening area. 8050's would offer an 8'' woofer with better separation in the sonic field B&H # GE8050BPM. 1032c's would be great as well with a 10'' woofer and offer SAM technology BH #GE1032CPM.

Q: 4. Are monitors isolators included and why the warranty is 2 year and on manufacturer website is 5 year?

A: It is 5 year with registration with Adams-Audio. The isolators are NOT included:ADAM Audio USA:e-mail: usa-info@a href= http://adam-audio.com target= _blank adam-audio.com/a

Q: 5. Because this active monitor has DSP technology, will there be a delay from the signal going in to the sound coming out?

A: The SC204 is designed to process audio with undetectable latency.

Q: 6. What is the differnce between the 8030C and the G Three?

A: Internally, the Genelec 8030C 5" 2-Way 100W Active Studio Monitor (Single, Raw) and the Genelec G Three are identical. The two models differ in their input connector types and rear controls: - 8030C only has an XLR input, while the G Three has RCA and XLR inputs - 8030C uses a trim pot to adjust volume, while the G Three only uses dip switches - Bass and treble EQ controls vary slightly between the two - G Three has a dip switch to turn off the LED light on the front, while the 8030C does not

Q: 7. What are the woofers Xmax?

A: The manufacturer has not included any specifications for the Xmax of the Neumann KH 870 Dual 10" Active Studio Subwoofer. You can reach out to Neumann by email at headoffice@neumann.com to request more detailed information for the KH 870.

Q: 8. Are these speakers magnetically shielded?

A: Yes they are internally magnetically shielded.

Q: 9. What cables do I need to connect to my MacBook Pro ?

A: You will need more than cables. The first thing you will need is a Peavey USB-P - USB "Direct Box". You can find it on the B&H website BH #PEUSBP. Then 2 XLR cables to connect the speakers to the Peavey.

Q: 10. Does it come with the speaker grates?

A: Sorry, grates are not included.

[9.375 lb] I have these on my computer desk and the sub near by. It is really fantastic imaging and sound.

It is worth using the MA1 mic and the Neumann software to EQ your monitors. The software takes a little bit to work through, but you only need to do it once. Fortunately, I had a metric tape measure. It only reports distances in cm.

I used the Genelec 8000-437B VESA Adapter and some short desktop VESA monitor mounts. It mounts on the KH80 perfectly.

These guys can get pretty loud, especially for near-field listening. I set the maximum volume (in Roon) to -24 dB and comfort to -30 dB.

The automatic standby is a bit temperamental. I find they come out of standby every now and then, but it's only noticable from the front light.

[Gray] I own one SC-204 that I use as my keyboard monitor. Two SC-205's and TS-108 sub. I use the 205's and sub to gig small home venues. These speakers are great. Flat sound to me and they work. Great sound for mid to upper-mid priced speakers I would buy again and recommend to all.

[Gray] These small monitors are tiny but produce very high levels with low distortion and great clarity. Very easy to carry in the bag specific to the model. These are really incredible for the size! I have Focal Twins in the main studio and these in an auxiliary room. The white model is also beautiful and takes very little space on a small desktop.

[114 dBA] Well it is true with the KH 310.
Clean, accurate, detailed.
You don't realize how muddy others sound until you hear the mix through this thing.

[108.8 dB] The KH310 produces a beautiful three dimensional sound field. The sound stage has excellent width and depth.

Good recordings are reproduced with highs that shimmer, timber and detail that is exciting, smooth and dynamic mids and authoritative lows.

I paired them with two KH750 subs. Wow!!!

[108.8 dB] Side by side comparison to ADAM speakers revealed these are the best speakers on the market. They have very clear and big bass. And they have very clear mids and highs. If clarity and low end boom and bass clarity is your thing, then these speakers are the best you will find in the music store. They are better than ADAM Audio speakers in a side by side comparison the rep took me thru, it was close with ADAM being second, but after listening to the EVE SC208s, the ADAMS started to sound just a little more muffled than when I first heard them before hearing the EVE SC208s, and EVE SC208 gave off a big clear, defined, tight bass that was better than ADAM's. Surprisingly the budget Mackie MR8 MK3 kinda came in close third place in all the test. Mackie has bass too and pretty clear mids in the MK3 series only, but EVE's are the best of all on the shelf music store monitors. They are the most expensive tho, so you know why, but you get what you pay for. If you want the monitor with the biggest baddest clearest bass and mids and highs that are not fatiguing at long periods of time, then you will have to pay the cost to be the boss with these.

[Gray] These monitor speakers, although pricy, are very well suited to mixing and editing in protools for a studio either at home or in a formal studio setting. They are transparent with a very flat sound that does not emphasize any particular aspect of the frequency spectrum. Flat sound as used here is a good thing. The bass is surprisingly strong in my editing room which only about 8' x 10'. I did add a subwoofer for frequencies below 50Hz. The highs are exceptionally clear and the midrange very smooth. These speakers are very easy on the ears even after several hours editing. I highly recommend them. I use them mainly to edit recording of live theatrical musical performances.

[Single Monitor] The KH750 produces tight and detailed sound. No bumps or unwanted intrusions to the music. Its accurate and produces visceral deep bass.
