Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this bag work for 12x12 LED panels? How many would it hold?

A: The dimensions are 29.5 x 13 x 11.5" it would not be suitable for 12x12" panels.

Q: 2. Can this travel on airline?

A: It is too big to go in an overhead bin, but it will fit under the plane.

Q: 3. Anyone ever tried to bring this one on a plane as carry-on?

A: Yes-- I fly with it constantly it fits perfectly. Just make sure you're not the late zone to board.

Q: 4. What is the weight?

A: The Porta Brace Wheeled Tripod/Light Case weighs approximately 15lbs.

Q: 5. Are any dividers provided with the bag?

A: Yes, it does come with a divider kit.

Q: 6. Hi does anyone know if this is a hard shell or semi hard shell case suitable for traveling by any chance ?

A: Case is semi-hard. There are thick foam walls but I would not recommend checking this bag if you're carrying fragile equipment.

Q: 7. Does the PortaBrace BK-GYHC550OR have a handle to pull the case, or only the wheels? I would expect and extendable handle, but don't see one in the photos.

A: The PortaBrace Wheeled Backpack for JVC GY-HC550 Camcorder does feature a retractable handle to pull the case.

Q: 8. Wheels look very vulnerable, would you be comfortable repeatedly checking the bag on flights.

A: I would say that this is the result of wanting the maximum space. I would imagine Porta Brace is thinking the users want more space and that the wheels, if in the rare chance they are damaged, would be an easy fix.

Q: 9. Can it be carried on airplant?

A: This case has exterior dimensions of 23.0 x 12.0 x 10.0 . Airlines may differ, but a popular airline like Jetblue's carry on regulations are 22 x 14 x 9 , which would make this bag just miss their guidelines. However you may want to check directly with the airline you'll be flying with.

Q: 10. Looking for a versatile bag to help roll things out on location; would this bag hold two interfit monolights and a couple sandbags ? A collapsible c stand base? Hard to tell how much space in interior and if safe-ish for lights...

A: Yes this will hold two monolights, for the stands you will need a separate bag

[16 lb] I'm satisfied.

Three Monoheads
Threere flectors

[Black] We bought this bag so we could consolidate our field gear into something that was easily transportable. It was tremendously helpful to be able to customize the interior panels for a tight fit. The zipper pockets are great for storing hard drives and other production accessories. The case is made from extremely durable material... exactly what you would expect from Porta Brace.

[Yes] I was looking for a bag that would allow me to keep the C300 MKII assembled with the top handle so I don't have to waste time in the field reassembling the top handle each time I need to shoot. This bag is an affordable solution.

This bag works well for a one-man band. Ideal for press. It is capable of holding a C300 MKII with the top handle assembled, a shotgun mic, lav mics, lenses, extra batteries, and memory cards.

If I'm covering an event, like a press conference or rally, I park the car, put on the backpack, throw my tripod on one shoulder, and quickly setup my next shot on location.

[16 lb] this bag is built to last, Vermonters take a lot of pride in their craftsmanship and this is no exception. just needs a six pack holder. jk

[16 lb] At the end of the day, all these type of bags are limited by how much you can lift, but this is excellent quality. Expensive (probably too expensive) at full price, but much better value on sale. I'd certainly trust it in an aircraft hold as long as it wasn't too stuffed full.

[Yes] I originally bought a Smith-Victor rolling case (B&H # SMCW), but now wish I had bought this Porta Brace case first.

The PB wheels are wider apart, meaning the case is more stable than the SV case when rolling. The SV case tends to wobble from side to side (or even tip over) unless you're on a smooth surface. And the SV case has cheapo wheels that tend to break easily. The PB wheels are larger, more durable, and on steel axles. Much better.

One thing not immediately apparent from the product info is that the PB case, like the SV case, has a telescoping handle for pulling the case behind you. I think the PB handle is a bit better made, but they are both adequate.

Size-wise, the cases are close to identical.

I'm very pleased with the quality of this product.

[Canon EOS C300] Working in the construction industry, I am always concerned about the return on my investment for the gear I purchase, that said, I was a little leery about whether this roller could handle the rigorous video shoots i perform in the field. I am happy to report that this grip bag has surpassed all expectations, especially with the wheels. I can load my sticks for camera and lighting, a pair of LED lights, small sundries bag and a 50' power cord. The best part is I can stack my SHAPE camera bag on top to reduce trips back to the truck. Highly recommend this bag.

[Canon EOS C300] Ideal for use on aircraft travel, and has many compartments and a divider kit to customize your gear. Great compact bag for Dslr bodies, lenses, LCD screens, laptop and all other smaller items. Comes with light panel for dark / low light scenarios. The wheels of course are a bonus, I am able to stack another runner bag on top of this. Porta brace is the zacuto of bags, you get what you pay for. I was looking at getting a hiker hk-2 and was swayed to this due to the extras like light, wheels and more usable compartments.

[Black] Great bag, feels durable. I am actually using it for my clothes, but for when I'm traveling with gear, so it matches the other stuff. What can I say, I'm a camera fashionista
