Q: 1. Do you think this will hold up to dog nails and activity?

A: I've been using the 5'x12' white vinyl for 4 years, It holds up really well but after 4 years it's harder to get the markings made by dogs and handlers.

A: This listing includes both the Savage Economy Background Stand and 5'x9' Chroma Green Wrinkle Resistant Background. Both items can be purchased separately as well.

Q: 3. will this work with a gbc ultima 65 ?

A: School-Lam Laminating Film is compatible with the GBC Ultima 65, which is designed to be used with NAP/School Film.

Q: 4. Is the core strong enough not to sag if using a portable background support crossbar?

A: My team needed to purchase a new heavy-duty backdrop stand (thicker metal) to hold the weight with minimal sag.

Q: 5. Has anybody noticed any Moire issues with this backdrop? I have a D800/E and I suspect it might cause moire.

A: With a plain paper or vinyl surface, there should be no moire issues with the Nikon 800E. It could very well have issues if the material was muslin. That being said, the 800E is a very specific use camera and moire can easily show up in repeat pattern surfaces and often surprising places as you know. In the end, it is our opinion that this vinyl background should not cause moire issues with the Nikon 800E.

Q: 6. How much does this weigh?

A: It is heavy. It weighs about 50 lbs. on the roll. But it is possible for an average person to lift and move it. I was able to unbox it & put it up on my background stand by myself without any assistance. This is the best background I've ever purchased. Tough, durable, easy to clean. It's worth twice the price, in my opinion. I would buy another one in a heart beat! For me ...no more paper, no more muslin. And it's thick too. Very sturdy material. Easy to move and adjust when you're laying it out.

A: 3

Q: 8. Does this have a rod pocket or do I need clamps?

A: It is taped to the cardboard tube but you will probably want clamps also.

Q: 9. How much does this weigh?

A: It weighs 15 pounds.It is good quality and value for the money.

Q: 10. How far does the top pole extend?

A: I bought it as a gift for a photographer. I used it one time and if I had to guess I'd say it's about 8 feet give or take.

[1] Translum is great! I use it to double diffuse the light when shooting products. You can make a very nice gradation across the surface. The Translum can be cut to any size frame or you can just hang it on the arm of a C-stand. Unlike fabric diffusers, which get wrinkles, the Translum is inexpensive enough to toss and use a new piece so no defect will reflect in the surface of your product. 5

[Vinyl] Works great as a wrinkle free backdrop or, backlight it for a cleaner, brighter white. Can also be used as an additional layer of diffusion with soft boxes. 5

[Spot Clean] very useful for a variety of things, sturdy and easy to cut. Today I used a small piece inside a bottle to block out the back label which was thermal printed, it's translucent so light can penetrate but you can't see the text quickly and neatly solving the problem of removing the back label lettering. Makes great diffusion and easy to clean. 5

[Spot Clean] I light this from behind with a large, softened, parabolic umbrella and it creates a beautiful, soft, wraparound back light. The resulting images are partial silhouettes, with the edges lit by the wraparound. It's great for featuring the shape and posing of models, and easily allows full-body shots of the model. 5

[Vinyl] For nearly 50 years I have been trying to get decent shots of the stuff I make. There is so much to learn to be a fair photographer but I end up spending my energies just learning how to do what I actually do. The bulk of it has been sculptural ironwork (forged) and carved wood. This backdrop has helped me get presentable shots on my first trial. There is so much to get right for a decent show-off that getting an answer to one of them is a huge help. Thanks. 5
