The Polaroid SX-70 is considered a classic among instant cameras. Mint Camera SLR670-S Instant Film Camera Brownhas brought the SX-70's classic design into the modern era with more manual control over the camera, by creating the brown SLR670-S Instant Film Camera. The most recognizable part of the camera is the folding design, which makes it compact when collapsed, and easy to open by pulling up on the viewfinder.

The Time Machine is an external module that connects to the SLR670-S and gives full control of the camera's shutter speeds. There are also two different auto modes, A100 (SX70 film) and A600 (600 film), which are in tune with the ISO's speeds. Unplug the Time Machine and the camera will automatically go into A100 mode.

The electronics have been fully revamped and the electronic eye has been updated over that of the original SX-70 to give a proper exposure. If you find your image a little over- or under-exposed, adjust the brightness control wheel to control the exposure for another picture in the same location and lighting.

Focusing is made easy by the SLR viewfinder and the split image circle; rolling the focusing wheel to the left or the right slowly focuses what you see in the image circle. Each pack of instant film contains a built-in single-use battery to power the camera.

NOTE: When using Polaroid i-Type film with the SLR670-S (Type-i) camera, the camera utilizes its built-in battery; while using SX-70 or 600 films, it will use the battery from the cartridges.

Q: 1. Is this all metal body or leather?

A: The Mint Camera SLR670-S Noir Instant Film Camera body is mainly made of plastic but some parts are metal.

Q: 2. Does this model have the new “electric eye”?

A: The Mint Camera SLR670-S Noir Instant Film Camera's electric eye has been updated (from the original SX-70) to give the user proper exposure.

Q: 3. Are there similar issues with refurbished model similar to the SX70? Such as the whirring noise with the motor? Is there a warranty?

A: I contacted MiNT Camera concerning your inquiry. MiNT states that the SLR670-S was launched in May 2016. They state it combines the best of the 670α and 670m, which can use both SX-70 and 600 type film. Taking the body of the SX-70, they’ve upgraded the internal components with modern electronics in order to expand the capabilities of their instant film cameras. The SLR670-S is basically an upgraded version of SX-70, with better technology and is more reliable. In response to the whirring noise, they state that SX-70 and SLR670 cameras may seem to have loud motor sound for first-time users. Other cameras usually do not have these since they do not have the film eject function. But when you encounter more SX-70s, you will find the motor sound normal. It does not affect the camera's functions. The Mint Camera SLR670-S Instant Film Camera purchased new comes with a Limited 3-Year Warranty from the manufacturer.

Q: 7. any overview and specs?

Q: 8. What is the difference between the SLR670-S and the SLR670-X?

A: The Mint Camera SLR670-X Ming Edition Instant Film Camera (Silver) (B&H# MISLR670XSL) features a built-in module which the manufacturer calls a “Time Machine.” That feature enables manual shutter speed setting and two automatic settings, one for ISO 640 speed film (called 600 film) and one for ISO 160 speed film (called SX-70). That’s especially helpful as it will allow you to adjust for different lighting conditions, too. The version of the Time Machine included as part of the SLR670-X even includes a 2.5mm flash sync port for connecting the camera to an external flash. In contrast, with the Mint Camera SLR670-S Instant Film Camera (Black) (B&H# MISLR670S) uses a different and external Time Machine module and it must be removed in order to shoot with ISO 160 speed film (called SX-70).

Q: 9. Every single sample image I have seen from this camera is blurry. The advantage of this camera over every other one on the market for instax wide is that it doesnt' use blunt zone focus. But EVERY image is blurry on a '$900 camera, apparently from the..lens? What gives?

A: this camera has a focus based on distance and judgement. You don't see in advance your focus. Also the instant film doesn't give you the best resolution.

Q: 10. How do you switch from 600 film to SX-70 film?

A: The Mint Camera SLR670-S Classic Instant Film Camera (Black) is compatible with SX-70 and 600 Polaroid film, There is no need to switch anything.

[116mm] The Mint InstantKon RF70 is, for me, the optimal combination of quality and convenience for shooting Instax film. I can get more quality and character from my 4x5 camera with Lomograflok Instax back, but that is a time-consuming process and obviously impossible for handheld use. The InstantKon RF70 has a high-quality lens: sharp with pleasing bokeh at wide apertures. Build quality is decent: definitely superior to Fuji's Instax cameras. Be aware that the rangefinder and viewfinder are separate, so shooting is not quite as fast in actual use as it would be with a combined rangefinder / viewfinder. My copy sometimes needs a little help ejecting the dark slide from the film pack: cutting or removing the tape at the top of the film pack solves the problem. I love using the camera and am very pleased with the results.

[1/4"-20 Female] Just got a Mint Polaroid Camera and some Color and Black and White Film. What a nice change from shooting. I will never give up me d500's. But this is a different kind of art.

[Optical] I just love my slr670s so much because I own a normal sx70 but it is difficult to use due to automatic metering. With slr670s, I'm able to set shutter speed manually and accordingly. No more backlit photos but accurate ones. Great camera overall.

[Manual Focus] Mint has made shooting Polaroid integral film into a much more controlled and creative endeavor! I own several folding Polaroid SLRs (SX-70, Alpha 1, Sonar, SLR680)...but, the Mint SLR 670 is by far my favorite of the bunch!

[f/8 to 22] I actually have a few SX-70 cameras, but no doubt this is the best one I've had.

I usually got failed photos (wrong exposure, blurry images) with my original SX-70 because the fastest shutter speed is only 1/175. Very frustrated!

After using SLR670-S Classic, things have changed. The aperture is fixed at f/8 --great depth of field. (You can see the first photo I shoot in a cafe) It was 1/30 with color 600 film. Accurate exposure, sharp image! No more failed photos!!!

The condition of the camera is great.
Thanks MiNT:') Such a great camera!

[116mm] I’ve used 5 different Instax Wide cameras (Fuji 300, Lomo, Toyo 4x5, Polaroid Land 450, RF70), and this is by far the best handheld option.

Framing takes a while to get used to, but the lens is sharp and moderately fast. Only complaint is it only seems to work with alkaline batteries and not rechargeable—even really powerful lithium. But overall great. Both auto and manual work well.

[f/8 to 22] Rock Star Instant Camera

I've used this camera for about five weeks and am happy with it. I have control over exposure via the shutter speed dial and I can also shoot with studio strobe (note that flash (studio strobe) sync speed is 1/30th of a second, which I have tested. 1/60th may work but I have not yet tested it). I've discovered that 1/125th of a second sync speed is too fast and yields poor results.

Pros:

1) Control over exposure

2) Can shoot 600 or SX-70 film

3) External strobe sync

4) SLR so viewfinder shows you what you get

Cons:

1) This is a delicate instrument

2) f/8 is the only aperture

Recommendations:

Use Frog tongue

After shooting a frame and the film ejects, wait 30 seconds with the film under the frog tongue. Then transfer the frame to your camera bag so it can develop in the dark

Make sure film is at recommended temperatures. I've shot film at too high a temperature and results were not what I wanted

To connect camera strap, buy these: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/736105-REG/OP_TECH_USA_1301082_System_Connectors_Mini_QD.html

To connect to external strobe, buy this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/317225-REG/Comprehensive_SMPS_MJS_Stereo_3_5mm_Mini_Female.html

To attach filters and tele lens, buy the retrograde engineering Polaroid SX-70 37mm Lens Adapter ' SX-37

I recommend the following case: Case Logic VNA210 10.2-Inch Netbook/iPad Attache

Tele lens: ULTIMAXX 37mm 2.2x Professional HD Telephoto Anti-Reflection Lens

[Manual Focus] I'm a big fan of analog cameras.
I have one original classic SX-70 with brown skin so I think having another one in special edition would be a great idea.

Noir is cool definitely :) Quite fashionable.
I'm totally satisfied with the camera. It's a refurbished camera but the condition is still perfect.

MiNT upgraded the motherboard of the camera so it can sync with the time-machine. I don't have to stick with ND filters when I use 600 films anymore!

This is great because I can enjoy shooting with Polaroid in all lighting condition. Fastest shutter speed is 1/2000 (WOW!) and with T/B mode I can shoot light painting / night view.

They make a breakthrough:) I am happy with my SLR670-S Noir.

[116mm] I have several SX-70 in good shape, but the restoration process by Mint is amazing. And the Time Machine is a great way to have full control of the camera.
