The VOX MV50 Rock is a miniature amplifier head which engenders the classic sound of a high-gain British tube amplifier. Measuring only 5.3 x 3.0 x 3.9”, this amplifier head provides 50W of power and is capable of driving cabinets at four, eight, and 16 Ohms. The amplifier accomplishes this feat thanks in no small part to an all-analog preamp circuit utilizing Nutube technology, as well as analog components which reproduce the dynamic character of a traditional British tube amplifier. A class D power amp complements the preamp, giving the MV50 the ability to produce enough volume for any situation and respond to the nuances of your guitar, as well as the dynamics of your playing technique. In addition to delivering warm and natural clean tones, when driven to its hilt and played aggressively, the MV50 will respond with the pleasing overdrive, grit, and harmonics you'd expect from a British amp. It's quite suitable for driving riffs and soloing.

The MV50 Rock provides one 1/4" guitar input, one 1/4" speaker output, and a 1/4" headphone/line output. Gain, tone, and volume controls are provided to tweak the amp's sound and output. A VU-style meter shows the output levels at any given time, while an impedance switch on the back of the amplifier allows you to raise or lower the resistance to interface with compatible cabinets.

To suit a wide variety of speaker cabinets, an EQ switch on the rear of the amp head has been provided, giving you two tone-shaping options. Deep mode puts the emphasis on the low frequency range and is particularly useful with smaller cabinets; Flat mode, on the other hand, allows you to take full advantage of a larger speaker’s inherent tonal characteristics. The 1/4" headphone/line output utilizes a cabinet simulation circuit to offer you the full sound of an amplifier/head combo when routing signal to headphones, DIs, recording interfaces, mixers, PAs, and more.

Looking more like a chip than a conventional valve, the Nutube is a vacuum tube utilizing technology from vacuum fluorescent displays. As with conventional vacuum tubes, the Nutube is constructed with an anode, grid, and filament, and operates as a complete triode tube. Furthermore, it generates the response as well as the same rich harmonic characteristics of conventional vacuum tubes. Its miniature size reduces power consumption over conventional tubes, and its construction is said to offer up to 30,000 hours of continuous operating life.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much weight can it carry?

A: The maximum load capacity of the Tether Tools Rock Solid 4-Head Tripod Cross Bar is 18lbs (8.16kg). Do note the weight must be balanced for stability on stand.

Q: 2. How low to the ground does it get?

A: It goes as low as 12 inches.

Q: 3. Using the E-Image Aluminum tripod (#EIGA230PTZ) w/ QR Plate. Can I mount 2 PTZ cameras?

A: Yes, you can attach the Tether Tools Rock Solid 4-Head Tripod Cross Bar onto the E-Image Aluminum Tripod with Rising Center Column & QR Plate for PTZ Cameras (B&H # EIGA230PTZ). The only issue is that the Tether Tools tripod has a 3/8" screw, so if your PTZ camera has a 1/4" screw opening, you will need a head that changes from 3/8" to 1/4". For example, the Leofoto LH-25 Mini Ball Head with Quick Release Plate (https://bhpho.to/3McfiPK) can do this.

Q: 4. Can these bulbs be dimmed by a conventional dimmer switch instead of the remote control?

A: Yes, the savage led bi-color bulb (50W) offers dimmable tri-band technology.

Q: 5. Does the PA550 have a built in rumble filter? And also what is the phono cartridge load capacitance?

A: This unit does not have a specific rumble filter built in. As well, the cartridge load capacitance is not specified by the manufacturer.

Q: 6. Can I install two camera bodies with lenses and ball heads on this cross bar, one on each side?

A: Yes, you may install two camera bodies with lenses attached to each base plate of this Rock Solid 4-Head Tripod Cross Bar as long as the plate already has a ball head attached to them prior to installing the cameras.

Q: 7. When turned off / on, (not via remote, but unplugging from the wall) will it remember the last setting?

A: No, the last setting would not be retained on the Savage LED Bi-Color Bulb if unplugged from a screw base fixture.

Q: 8. How many lumens?

A: The lumens measurements are as follows: 3000 lumens at 3.28' (1.0 m) at 5600K 2800 lumens at 3.28' (1.0 m) at 4200K 2400 lumens at 3.28' (1.0 m) at 3200K

Q: 9. Is there a way to mount these in a bracket system that will allow me to use grids, snoots, and other modifiers? If so, what product?

A: This product has no add on accessories, it's use is just itself.

Q: 10. Will this connect directly to a tripod mount where a head would normally go?

A: yes it will

[50 W RMS] This little amp sounds fantastic. I’ve had the best results using an over the ear style headphone but it works decent with my in-ears as well. The battery lasts a good amount of time, it’s easy to use and the different tones I can get are truly satisfying. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this for a recording or band practice.

[50 W RMS] This thing rocks out on earbuds, portable speakers, and a 4x12 cab. It's very boomy on an amps so the tone needs adjusting. Careful with the volume hooked to an amp as well, a little is a lot. The aux in audio is so useful for playing along with songs or a metronome with the volume being independent for fine tuning what you want to hear more of. I would recommend this, it sounds just as good as an amp modeler fro what it does.
