With high-performance specs and low RFI susceptibility, the bronze Microtech Gefell M 930 Cardioid Condenser Microphone Bronzecardioid condenser microphone is especially well suited for demanding broadcast and studio recording of speech, vocals, and varied instruments. The large-diaphragm capsule and transformerless electronics, which are elastically suspended to inhibit vibration noise, allow the M 930 to produce excellent detail for low-level signals as well as distortion-free clarity at high SPLs up to 142 dB, all while yielding very low self-noise (7 dBA).

The overall frequency response is balanced and quite flat, with a slight rise from 7 to 11 kHz to exude enhanced presence and brilliance. Thanks to the cardioid polar pattern, cancellation at the rear of the mic exceeds 25 dB, helping minimize background noise and bleed from other sounds. [Bronze] I got this mic to interview a friends pre-wedding interview in our home. I'm a novice by audio standards but I must say I was very delighted in the sound quality this mic provided. Was also glad it uses 9V battery or phantom power. 5

[Phantom Power] In other words, excellent! Outstanding! I went back and forth between this mic and Neumann U87, having tried the TLM 103 in a similar price range and having been disappointed with the 103's tinny and thin response. If you're looking for a vocal mic, look no further. At half the price (or less) of a U87, you can have an authentic German large diaphragm cardioid condenser mic that is extremely quiet, with beautiful, buttery sound, and which is very forgiving and much more compact then the U87 form factor. I use this mike in a whisper room sound booth, primarily for voiceover and I can tell you the difference I am hearing, even between my trusty, industry stalwart 416: the noise floor is lower, with less detectable mouth sounds, and it feels like the dynamic range is greater than the short shotgun, with absolutely no boomy booth sound. I'm in love with this mike and I think you will be too. 5

[Mono] Purchased in 1999 this mic still works after all these years. It didn't get much use, as I only used it to record acoustic guitar. Nevertheless, it can do a lot more than just acoustic recording. Build quality is great, sound is excellent, a wide dynamic range, and frequency response. With small condensers mic placement is critical, and the NT3 is a lot more forgiving than my AKG C1000s. 5

[Mono] Let me try to break this down as short as I can. I had been saving and dreaming of acquiring a u87ai for years. Recently I had clients not pleased with the colorization my mojave audio 201 fet mic was giving my vocals for narration duties. So I started thinking of buying a tlm 103 after having returned it a year ago because it was just to harsh for my voice. Although it was silky and extremely detailed, It just was to sibilant for me and sounded harsh in the higher frequencies for me. So researching I came across Gefell and how it is actually the Neumann family still in charge of Gefell while modern Neumann mics are made by senheisser. So I took a chance, and ordered the m930. Wow oh wow. It takes the best of the tlm 103 and does it even better. It's just as silky, and much more pleasing. I think of it actually closer to the u87ai but without the boxy midrange that mic is notorious for. It sits between the u87ai and tlm 103, but sits closer to the u87ai. I think my u87ai desires have been put to rest with the m930. It's so clean, clear, and silky. My voice has a lot of natural color, so the m930 works wonderful not adding any more and actually makes my voice sound much more pleasing. I wish I would've gotten this mic sooner when I first started doing voice work. It's compact, with a big open natural sound. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. 5

[Side Address] I purchased two of these to use for both acoustic guitar recording and also for drum overheads. They are beautifully constructed as I have come to expect from Sennheiser products. A very useful feature are the small adjustment controls which allow you to add a pad to reduce very loud sources and select from three bass roll-off profiles allowing you to tailor the microphone to match its intended use. I have so far only used them for acoustic guitar recording and was very happy with the super clear and entirely natural sound reproduction. They are nice and compact as well. One small gripe is the average quality pouch that comes with them, but most people will probably use a road case anyway. Thanks again B&H ... 5

[Bronze] Got while it was 40% off - great sound. Much preferred over the TLM 102/103. It's super sensitive to plosives/handling noise - so that's been a learning curve but I am very happy I made the investment. 5
