Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a pentax k50?

A: The FotodioX Canon FD to Pentax K-Mount adapter will be compatible with the Pentax K-50, yes. This lens adapter can be used with any K-mount DSLR.

Q: 2. Does the adapter contain a lens?

A: It does not have any glass elements in it.

Q: 3. I have a pentax k1000 SLR and my dad gave me his old Canon FD 50mm 1:1.8 S.C. lens. I would love to use this. Will this fit my Pentax?

A: Yeah. As long as it is an fd to a pentax k bayonet it should work. I have a similar canon fd manual lens 50mm 1:1.4 and it works fine. it is a bit confusing at first but mount the adaptor to the lens and make sure the canon lens is NOT locked in its auto setting on it's aperture ring. If you don't, the adaptor won't go on. Since its a manual lens you also have to do stopped down photography. It takes some adjusting but you get used to it.

Q: 4. Does this work on a7s mark ii?

A: I have vizelex and screw m42 lens adapter and works very well, with this A series you don't have problems for focusing, cause have many helps ( peaking, zebra, assist focus in two ways or more ) great adapter, the right choose for the A 7 series

Q: 5. I have FD 20mm f/2.8 & 50mm f/1.4. Can this adapter use hyperfocal distance correctly? I know some FD to NEX adapters can't achieve it. I am looking for the right one, thanks! If not, any adapter recommended? Please share ideas!

A: The manufacture does not list specific lenses and hyperfocal distance. But the adapter will give infinity focus.

Q: 6. Will this mount work for the old canon ftb lense and the magnicon on my canon rebel x eos? (all being film cameras)

A: The FotodioX Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Canon FD Lens to Canon EF Mount Camera should enable you to mount any lens you had used on the Canon FTb on the Canon EOS Rebel X. Though, keep in mind that there will be no electronic communication between camera and lens, so you will need to set everything manually.

Q: 7. Does this adapter have any glass elements or does it act as a macro tube?

A: Since the FD mount had a mirror between the lens mount on the camera and the sensor, the adapter is essentially a macro tube with NO glass. Rhis makes up the mirrors spacing since oir newer camera are mirrorless. It works just as it would on your FD mount camera. You lose no light relative to an FD mount. Adding a priece of glass would only absorb light, and deflect it wider or narrower. Wider would essentially make it lose light and become a longer focal lengthed lens. While narrowing it would be nice to capture what a full frame sensor sees with more light. If you have a sony e mount camera with a full frame (FE mount) this will work as best as the lens can do. If you have a sony e mount crop sensor (just E mount) then you might look for an adapter with glass. Almost all FD lenses were made for full frame support.

Q: 8. Can I use this adapter with my canon eos 550D with fd lenses from my film canon ae 1?

A: Yes thats exactly what its for.

Q: 9. will this work with a canon 180 macro lens?

A: The FotodioX Canon FD Pro Lens Adapter with Tripod Mount for Fujifilm X-Mount cameras will not work with the Canon 180mm EF Macro lens. To mount this lens to an X-Mount camera, you will need an EF mount to X mount adapter, such as the FotodioX Canon EF Pro Lens Adapter with Built-In Iris Control for Fujifilm X-Mount Cameras: http://bhpho.to/1bsLtCf

Q: 10. What is the function of the blue ring? Isn't the aperture ring on the lens used to control aperture?

A: Oops, this blue ring DOES have a function, it is the stop-down ring that allows the FD lens to stop down for metering, or remain open for focusing. FD a lenses are a bit fiddly to mount, but this adapter works better than most.

[0.35 lb] Had salesmen trying to tell me it would cost $+ to get a converter lens that would allow me to connect my Nikon D90 to my old Canon auto bellows. This did the trick for $+. No trickery on getting it to work as implied by other reviews - very easy and straightforward.

[FUJIFILM G] This adapter seems to do the job it was designed to do. I've mounted my Canon Fd lenses to my X e2 and they work in aperture priority or manual mode. I'm not crazy about the blue ring as it really sticks out (visually). The tripod mount may come in handy at some point but, for now, I've just removed it. Sometimes the view in the viewfinder gets darker as I stop down (which it shouldn't with the way I have my settings). The calculated shutter speed for each aperture looks correct though. I haven't had a chance give a really critical look at final results. The adapter itself seems to work fine. One tip to clarify the use of this adapter: Twist the blue ring all the way to install to mount your lens to the adapter. Once mounted, twist the blue ring all the way to the other direction and mount the lens + adapter to your camera. Then, leave the blue ring alone and control your aperture with the aperture ring on the lens. Twist the blue ring back to the install position to remove the lens from the adapter.

[Metal, Brass] The adapter easily and securely mounted my Canon 500 mm f 8 mirror lens to a Nikon D90. This adapter does not support any lens or camera automation. You have to focus manually and set exposure manually. My 500 mm lens has a fixed aperture so manual focus and exposure was not a problem. The optical performance of the adapter is very good.

[FUJIFILM G] I picked up the FotodioX FD to Fujifilm X mount adapter to adapt my old Canon 50mm 1.8 FD lens to my Fujifilm X-T20. Its well built and works perfectly. Also, to my surprise the Canon 50mm f1.8 FD make some really nice images when adapted to a small format camera. Very nice indeed!

[FUJIFILM G] Did a test session with a 135mm and it worked great. I own anther adapter from another brand for eos and wasn't satisfied with the results. Now I am. Specially for the price/quality.

[0.35 lb] I'm very pleased with this, FOTODIOX Lens Mount Adapter. I am able to mount all my Canon and Tokina FD mounts without difficulty on to my D3200. They (Lens) function as manual lenses only as they are not coupled to the camera. I am able to mount the lenses without any problems, they go on and off smoothly. Focusing is easy as is setting an aperture. It was nice looking through that old glass again. I can only speak to the FD/Nikon adapter it functions perfectly. The price is reasonable for what you get, a chance to use some of your old stuff again! I would recommend this product for those that want to give new life to some old gear.

[Metal, Brass] This lens adapter is super helpful if you are looking to buy older, more cheaper canon fd lenses for your Nikon! but cannon fd lenses and the adapter don't have ai or anything auto, so its an all manual lens, that can only be used in manual mode which is not a problem if you know what to do.
