Swarovski Btx 30x/35x Eyepiece For Atx/stx Spotting Scopes

Fully compatible with all versions of their ATX and STX spotting scope systems, Swarovski BTX 30x/35x Eyepiece for ATX/STX Spotting Scopesrepresents the pinnacle of comfort for long-duration glassing sessions. The innovative design replaces the conventional single eyepiece with a dual-eyepiece binocular configuration that enables users to view with both eyes open, and with the eyepieces set at a 45° angle to the optical tube, their head is put in a natural viewing position. When mounted on the 65mm and 85mm models it has a 30x magnification, whereas the 95mm version is stepped up to 35x. Both models have a 63° wide apparent angle of view. To match the performance of the objective modules, this eyepiece module has the SWAROVISION system to improve color fidelity, contrast, and clarity; and SWAROCLEAN coatings help keep the lenses clear and easy to clean.
To improve stability and maintain the optimal head position relative to the eyepieces is an adjustable forehead rest. The rest can be removed if users find it more comfortable to use without it. Like the rest of the modules in the ATX/STX family, the Eyepiece module is nitrogen-filled to make it resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes, and is also O-ring sealed to be waterproof and submersible. Because finding targets through angled eyepieces is sometimes challenging, Swarovski provides an innovative aiming aid. The unmagnified device is placed in front of and to the side of the right eyepiece and is zeroed to the optical tube, so users simply look through the sight hole and center their subject in the reticle. Like the forehead rest, the aiming aid can be removed if users prefer to use the integrated sight on the objective modules shade.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will this work on Zeiss 20x60 binocular ?
A: Unfortunately, no. The eyepiece diameters are very different.
Q: 2. 1- could you let me know the size of the filter I can put in front of the 95mm objective?
A: Hello Jeremiah - My apologies for the delay in responding - I did not get the notification. The 95mm Modular Objective can accept a 97mm filter size, which is a VERY uncommon size. Here is the bottom line, even if you were able to source out a 97mm filter, or use a 105mm filter and a step-down ring: there are no filters currently on the market that will not adversely affect the optical performance of the spotting scope. Thinking this through: a $400 filter used on a Canon 800mm f/5/6 lens is only having to work with a 16x lens magnification. It is a perfectly good optical system. That same filter quality attached to the 95mm scope now has to deliver top optical quality at 70x!!! If you want to use the filter as protection for the scope front element, you will be adversely affecting image quality by doing so. My tip - slide out the retractable sunshade when you are using the spotting scope in the field, and it will be less likely for you to scratch or damage the scope lens.
Q: 3. Reviewer Cynthia said "and you can't carry it attached to your tripod like you can with other scopes". Is this true? I need a scope that I can carry on the tripod constantly, and weight is not an issue. Would this scope qualify for that? Thanks for any info you can provide.
A: The scope weigh is 3 lbs. without the eyepiece. You can leave it attached to the tripod but I would not recommend it. Makes it difficult to carry.
Q: 4. Is there a adaptor to allow iPhone15 attach to Eyepiece Module for taking wildlife vedic?
A: The Swarovski BTX 30x/35x Eyepiece Module for ATX/STX Spotting Scopes can be used with this adapter to attach the iPhone 15 Pro Max: https://bhpho.to/3VrH7Jt
Q: 5. How come the eyepieces magnification for 115 is the same as for 95?
A: The magnification is the same because magnification is not dependent on objective lens diameter. The 95mm is much less weight which comes into play for transporting then the 115mm is much bigger but brighter.
Q: 6. Is the optical quality superior to my current 30X70 zoom? I assume so since zooms usually are inferior. Tests? Proof of image quality over zoom? If used at night for astronomy, e.g., estimating magnitudes of variable stars, will the small 2.7 exit pupil be a negative to the point "not really usable at night sky"? What about splitting the light into the two barrels? Will this also be an issue of "not really meant for nighttime sky viewing"?
A: I own both the angled 30x70 zoom lens and the binocular BTX 35x eyepieces for my 90mm Swarovski modular spotting scope. Two me they are two different tools in the tool box. The 30x70 zoom eyepiece is ideal for scoping distant birds for bird watchers (which I am), especially for distant waterfowl on a lake as you pan the 180 degree vista in front of you. This combo is also ideal for watching shorebirds. You find the ducks at 30x and if you can’t identify them, you use the zoom feature. I use the binocular eyepiece for nest watching only these days, such as Bald Eagle and Osprey nests, or Purple Martin houses. With the binocular eyepiece, the whole unit is kind of heavy and bulky so you do not want to be lugging it too far in the field. I find the depth of field and, therefore, the focus, very sensitive with the binocular eyepiece. The binocular eyepiece is not the best choice if you are sharing the scope viewing experience with others because they will have to adjust the interpupilary distance of the two lenses and possibly the adjustable rings that aid in the distance your eyes are from the lenses. Optically, both lenses are mind-blowing! I have used the binocular eyepiece at night watching birds and bats fly silhouetted in front of the full moon. It was extremely sharp and bright. I am in my late 60s and have owned and used just about every make of scope. I am an Ornithologist so watch birds for a living, for citizen science, and for pleasure, and nothing can touch the quality of this scope for bird watching. I am sorry, for astronomical endeavors, I just don’t have the experience or expertise to answer your questions.
Q: 7. Reviewer Cynthia said, "and you can't carry it attached to your tripod like you can with other scopes". Is this true? I need a scope I can carry on the tripod constantly, and weight is not an issue. Would this scope qualify? Thank you for any info you can provide.
A: You can carry it on a tripod. The scope weighs 3 lbs without the eyepiece. I would not suggest it because of it being more prone to being hit while carrying it.
Q: 8. What is the filed of view at 1000 yards with the zoom ATX eyepiece and the 115mm objective lens at 30X and 70X magnification?
A: When using the Swarovski ATX Spotting Scope Modular Zoom Eyepiece (Angled Viewing) BH #SWATXMEA • MFR #49901 the Field of View With ATX-65, ATX-85 Scopes: 124 to 68' @ 1000 yd / 37.8 to 20.7 m @ 1000 m With ATX-95 Scopes: 104 to 57' @ 1000 yd / 31.7 to 17.4 m @ 1000 m
Q: 9. What is the minimum focus distance with the STX eyepiece at 30x? Thanks!
A: The minimum focus distance with the Swarovski STX Spotting Scope Modular Zoom Eyepiece (Straight Viewing) BH #SWSTXMES • MFR #49902 is the same for the 95mm: 15.7' / 4.8 m
Q: 10. Is there any difference in image quality between an angled or straight viewing eye piece?
A: Hello, There is no difference in image quality, only in how you place your eye to look through the spotter. The straight eyepiece is coaxial with the field of view, so it's more intuitive, but the angled is more forgiving in field positions. Best Regards, David Eickelmann, Swarovski Optik North America.
