The MS-040 Biological Monocular Microscope from Carson is a three-objective optic with top and bottom LED illumination that provides operators with multiple configurations to view specimens. This entry-level microscope is capable of 40x, 100x, and 400x magnification, well suited for viewing plant life, circuit boards, and more. The 90x90mm stage can be illuminated from above and/or below using the microscope's two LED light sources. Providing even more control over specimen illumination, the MS-040 features a 0.65NA condenser with 6-position diaphragm.

A: Yes it will. As long as your phone is not wider than 3.75” with or without protective case.

A: Don't bother. Piece of junk. Unstable, blurry, hard to use in the field.

Q: 9. Does this have 20x40 magnification?

A: Yes the model zooms from 60x-100x Magnification.

Q: 10. At the highest magnification, (1) what is the size of the region that can be viewed? and (2) how far away from the object must the scope be?

A: The magnifier is designed to be placed on the surface of the item or a table. The area covered is not specified but you can see by the size of the plastic guides its about one square inch. [10x] Definitely get a bang for your buck with this microscope! Really powerful, clear images, and easy to travel with. Just wish there was a travel cover to prevent dust and dirt from getting on the lens. 5

[4x, 10x, 40x] Really easy to put in your pocket and pop out when you want to take a gander at something at the 20x level! Only bummer is that this version doesn't come with a keychain attached, but it does come with a neato phone clip, it actually works pretty well though it does take some manual dexterity to take good picture. Took a picture of my couch cushion (see below) 5

[4x, 10x, 40x] I ordered this USB digital microscope with not a lot of expectation because of its low price. Upon its arrival, I downloaded the app that controls the microscope and I was floored by what great images it can record. For maximum magnification the attached transparent hood and LED (with adjustable brightness) provide the correct placement and illumination for the microscope and the supplied gooseneck support isn't really necessary. For lower magnifications, the gooseneck support IS NECESSARY if for no reason other than to keep the microscope stationary and the working distance adjusted for the necessary magnification. I find that with good ambient light in the room, the built-in adjustable brightness LEDs aren't necessary. All-in-all, for the price, I can't fault it at all as it provides excellent images at various magnification. I didn't need the microscope to record videos and I didn't test this feature but that is an option that the app provides. I recommend this USB microscope highly! 5

[LED] This digital microscope is ideal for looking at plant life, biological samples and very small parts. Setup is extremely easy and the image software captures very good quality jpegs. The only drawback is that the LED lights are right by the camera lens, so if you have a reflective surface, the LEDs will show up in the image (especially at low magnification). I have some semiconductor features I'd like to capture and the surface is too reflective for this application. However, for non-reflective parts , those LEDs provide for excellent bright lighting. At this price, you can't go wrong! 5
