The Sony MDR-7506 Professional Headphonesis a staple within the recording, film and live arenas. Due to its low impedance and closed-ear design, these headphones do an outstanding job of cutting down background noise while providing plenty of volume in the studio or in the field. Additionally, the closed design helps eliminate headphone bleed when overdubbing in the studio.

The MDR-7506 is an over-ear design and is ideal for use with MIDI workstations, camcorders, or other equipment with less than powerful headphone amplification. The headphone has a foldable design, making it convenient to store or transport, and its coiled cable allows it to stretch and spring back into place whenever you need a bit more reach.

Q: 4. I'm told that since these are 63 Ohm impedance, they require a fair amount of power to work properly. In other words, I was told to expect poor results from an iPad or iPhone. Is that correct?

A: These reference headphone are considered high impedance but will work with a mobile device, such as an iPhone or iPad. A portable headphone amplifier, such as the FiiO A1 Portable Headphone Amp (Black), BH #FIA1BK can be used to boost the signal.

Q: 5. Can these be worn comfortably for a long period time when wearing glasses? My other Sony headphones press on the arms of my glasses resulting in an eventual headache.

A: No, unfortunately they do not rotate for flat storage.

A: The Sony MDR-7506 has a permanently attached cable. Unfortunately not designed to be user replaced or serviced.

Q: 8. Where are these headphones made. China or Taiwan?

A: The pair I bought were made in Thailand. They are very good headphones, though. I use them for monitoring in my small studio when doing vocals. I have done rough mixdown late at night as well, and find the results pretty good the next morning.

A: If your amp has a headphone output, than yes you can.

[1000 mW] The Sony MDR-7506 is highly favored in film and audio production for its reliability. I find its frequency response perfect for tracking and referencing during interviews. Its flat, neutral response ensures accurate listening without exaggerated highs or lows.

[Closed-Back] I'm a radio professional who does a LOT of editing with headphones on, and these have been my favorite headphones for decades. They work great and they're very durable. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a really good, reliable set of headphones. I even got this pair on sale -- that was a nice bonus!

[1000 mW] Prior to this I had been using a hand-me-down pair of higher-end Sony headphones, but sadly one speaker finally gave out. Since pleased with a prior B&H purchase, I headed over to see what they had. Despite these being lower price-point than what I had been using, this hasn't felt like a downgrade at all! (And I bought mine on an open-box deal so they were especially budget-friendly.)

I'm no pro, but I do love listening to music & learning about music, so sound-quality is important to me. I think these are great, though perhaps someone with music-production experience could offer better comment.

Two notes, not really negative but just commenting: buy the deeper ear-pads (or add your own). I wear these for listening to music or podcasts, so I'm not wearing them 24/7 for work, but even so, if I have them on for a few hours while at my desk doing projects, I will say my ears hurt a bit. Not sure if this is affected by pressure-points since I wear glasses? However, my old headphones had good padding and I didn't notice the problem. When buying these new ones, I decided against spending more for the deeper cushions at the time, and I'm kind of regretting it.

Second comment, the adjusters to change where the pads sit over your ear, do slip a little. Every few on-offs I have to put them back to where they should be to sit correctly on my ear. This doesn't really bother me, but just commenting for those who might be particularly annoyed by this.

Overall: great product, good sound, well-made, easy to fold up into a compact shape (plus it comes with a felty storage pouch). I also love the coiled cord, which stretches if need-be but otherwise stays compact, not this endless cord going everywhere on your desk or workspace.

A little pricey if you don't need them, but if you're an earphone wearer (vs. earbud) I think you will be glad to invest in something that will hold up.

[106 dB/mW ] Comfy. Sounds great. I don't notice any difference between these and the MDR-V6 that I used to have. (I use them to listen to my MacBook Pro and iPad right out of their headphone ports - nothing fancy.)

[Black] This is my second pair of these headphones, which are classic and mostly the workhorse people make them out to be. The last pair kicked the bucket after daily use 6-7 years. I opted for an open box deal at B&H which pulled the price down a bit, and I was nervous that they'd be less-than-new in some way, but BH did a beautiful job inspecting the product and repackaging, and honestly you wouldn't know they aren't brand new.

[9.8' / 3 m] Industry standard and super comfy. I really think the sound coming from here is actual to what my camera hears.

[10 Hz to 20 kHz] The Sony MDR-7506 has long been a standard in the audio/broadcast industry - for a reason. It has excellent voice articulation, reveals any defect in an audio source and is light and comfortable to wear for long periods. It's reasonable price and inclusion of a screw-on 1/8 to 1/4 inch stereo adapter plug means its accessible to most and ready to go right out of the box.

A long but coiled cord maximizes flexibility. And if something breaks - parts are available - or just get another one. It's NOT at the pricey end of the spectrum for professional cans. Nothing fancy, here and no bragging rights - It just works - VERY well.
