Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this cable work to jam to a Deity TC-1 box? Same thing, just the Deity?

A: Yes but it is recommended that you use the Deity Microphones C14 instead because of the threaded locking connector.

Q: 2. Could I use this cable to sync timecode from my Atomos Shogun (that has a LEMO port) out to my Sound Devices MixPre-3 via the MixPre-3's Aux-in port? I have a Sony A7III that's generating the timecode out to the Shogun. So, essentially, this cable would connect to the Atomos Shogun's LEMO port and the Shogun would be sending the timecode out to the MixPre-3's 3.5mm AUX-IN. And if so, will recording be triggered from camera, to shogun, to the mixpre? I know the Sony will trigger the shogun, but can the shogun trigger the mixpre with the aforementioned setup? Thanks!

A: This cable is not appropriate for the Shogun and MixPre. To connect the Shogun to the MixPre, you would want to connect the HDMI output of the Shogun to the Micro-HDMI connection on the MixPre. This will take the HDMI TC from the Sony to the recorder. The MixPre must be set in HDMI TC Mode and will stop and start recording from the camera triggering it.

Q: 3. What cable does Komodo X use?

A: You can use the Tentacle Sync Tentacle to RED KOMODO Adapter Cable (B&H # TEC21) with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO-X 6K Digital Cinema Camera,

Q: 4. So this would work with my time code out of my Canon C70?

A: Yes. The Tentacle Sync C06 Tentacle to BNC Cable is a bidirectional cable that can be used to feed or accept a timecode signal between a Tentacle Sync timecode generator and a device with a BNC timcode input/output port like the port on the Canon EOS C70 Cinema Camera.

Q: 5. Does it work with v raptor?

A: Yes, the Tentacle Sync C01 Tentacle to RED Cable can be used with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR Camera.

Q: 6. Is this a male, or a female BNC connector? Can't believe there's no photos that show this, and nothing in the description.

A: The Tentacle Sync Tentacle to BNC Cable uses a male BNC connector. The gender of BNC connectors can be identified visually based on the casing of the connector.

Q: 7. When using this cable the audio channels on the camera are not used by Tentacle Sync, right? It just keeps the camera TC in sync and I'm free to use the cameras audio channels how I want?

A: Correct, this cable can be used with a RED camera (except RED One), connected to the 4-pin LEMO TC Sync port. Audio channels will not be effected.

Q: 8. I’m confused if this is the cable to jam sync a Tentacle with a Sound Devices 633, or is it the C02?

A: The two cables are directional so it depends on which device you are using to generate timecode and which is receiving timecode. You'll see an arrow on the white band near the 3.5mm connector that shows the direction of signal flow for each cable. The C03 is for sending timecode from the 633 into a Tentacle Sync and the C02 is for sending timecode from a Tentacle Sync into the 633.

Q: 9. Based on the direction of the tentacle, is this version a female 5-pin LEMO? I'm hoping to use to power my nucleus nano from my handle

A: The LEMO connection on this cable is is male, and it is designed for time code to be sent from a Tenacle Sync TC generator to a device with 5-Pin female TC in.

Q: 10. If I use this with a camera or recorder that has two stereo xlr inputs but records to only 2 channels (Such as a Sony FS100), will I be able to use the other XLR input for the second channel, or does Tentacle sync record timecode to one track, and reference audio to the second?

A: To answer your question, yes. While it is true that the Tentacle transmits two channels, this adapter only connects to the channel that transmits the timecode. The schematic for this adapter (on the manufacturers site) clearly shows the timecode out of the Tentacle is connected to pin 2 of the XLR and both remaining XLR pins are connected to the ground.Besides, the way a standard XLR connector is wired allows it to only transmit the signal of one audio channel anyway, so only the timecode goes to one audio channel of your camera or recorder, and you can use the other XLR connector on your camera or recorder for any other audio you wish.

[0.06 lb] Solid build and must have for every day RED use with my Tentacles. Major upgrade from that messy cable I bought from RED for jamming.

[0.06 lb] Every product I've ever purchased from Tentacle Sync is of outstanding quality, and this cable is no exception. I still use a Red One, and this is the cable you need to connect a TS timecode generator to the camera's timecode input.

[0.06 lb] Although I typically try to keep anything audio related “out of the red”, these cables have helped me feed timecode from my tiny Tentacles to Red cameras. I still hate lemo connectors.

[0.06 lb] I own two of these. Their solid cables so far. I haven't had them for more than a few months but They've held up to some serious abuse that deemed me chewing out a part of the camera department. They are a bit long for anything I need but the slack isn't too much. Both connector sides fit snug in anything I've plugged them in.
