The Tentacle Sync 3.5mm Mini-Jack Microphone Y-Cable 12"enables you to connect a Tentacle Sync 3.5mm Mini-Jack Microphone Y-Cable 12"timecode generator to a camera with a mini-jack audio input and to also use an external microphone. This cable has two right-angle Neutrik 3.5mm mini-TRS jack connectors and one 3.5mm cable jack. Audio timecode will record to the camera's left channel and the external mic will record to the right channel.

When I play back the clip on my headphones, I hear audio from both channels, so I'm hearing the loud whir from the timecode signal on the left channel at the same time as the person's voice on the right channel. I would like to find a solution that will allow me to monitor the video/audio take, hearing audio that is synced with the video clip, when I review by playing back the clip in camera. With the Sound Devices Mix Pre 3 II recorder, that high quality .WAV file will be synced later in post. I'm thinking that I would need a pair of headphones with a disabled left channel, so only the right channel is allowed to playback while I review the camera take on set. Can anyone recommend headphones that one can switch off the left channel, or have another solution that will allow a review of the synced audio/video clip on set? Thank you.

A: Tentacle normally works in Bluetooth. I receive time code from the Tentacle by downloading the app. The app reads the TC via Bluetooth. I've never used a cord with my iPhone. Hopefully this helps.

[12" (30 cm)] used this with the tentacle sync e with deity d4 which uses a special usb c cable, and i was able to listen to the audio in one channel as well as time code in the other. 5

[12" (30 cm)] I use modest Fuji cameras to shoot video (X-T3 and X-T4). I wanted to get into timecode syncing. I was bummed that the Tentacle would take over the 3.5mm input jack, but when I started to look into how I could get around that I found that they make this item available. I was thus able to attach a Tentacle Sync device and a Deity short shotgun into a Fuji at the same time, using one half of the audio for the sync and the other to capture nice sound from the mic. There are probably cheaper cables for the same purpose, but I am pleased as punch that Tentacle anticipated this need. 5

[0.07 lb] These cables are hard to buy sometimes, just because of the price point. But its so worth it to have around just in case and I've always been glad I did. I do wish they put a little label or something making sure which end was which because it gets a little confusing when youre in the thick of things. But ended up making my own and everythings been great. 5
