Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this cable use a genuine Anglissimo LEMO already angled at the 135 deg (4:30 o'clock) position as looking from rear?

A: Regarding the Tentacle Sync Tentacle to ALEXA Mini Cable (Right Angle - 12 ), the following information is offered by the Manufacturer: Original 90 LEMO adapter-cable to connect Tentacle to ALEXA MINI camera. LEMO Anglissimo connector pointing upwards (Direction to the red point).

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the Mini Lf?

A: Yes, it has a 5 pin Lemo connector for the Mini LF: Use the Tentacle to ALEXA Mini Cable Right Angle 12" to feed a timecode signal from a Tentacle Sync timecode generator to an ALEXA Mini camera. This cable features a right-angle, 3.5mm Neutrik mini-TRS jack connection to the Tentacle unit.

Q: 3. Would this work to connect an Alexa mini to the beachtec DXA-Red outputs, and record audio?

A: This cable is not designed to send audio into the Alexa Mini. The DXA-Red is meant to connect to the Red DSMC2. If attempting to connect the DXA-Red to the Alexa mini, you may need to have a custom cable created.

Q: 4. I have this cable and plugged it into my Sony A74 camera, then attached the Tentacle Sync E Mk2 unit that I used earlier as a slave to accept the master audio timecode signal from my Sound Devices Mix Pre 3 II external audio recorder. So now the Tentacle Sync E Mk2 unit is sending timecode to the camera's left channel. Also I attached a Deity V-Mic D3 Pro to send audio to the camera's right channel and then I recorded a video clip. When I play back the clip on my headphones, I hear audio from both channels, so I'm hearing the loud whir from the timecode signal on the left channel at the same time as the person's voice on the right channel. I would like to find a solution that will allow me to monitor the video/audio take, hearing audio that is synced with the video clip, when I review by playing back the clip in camera. With the Sound Devices Mix Pre 3 II recorder, that high quality .WAV file will be synced later in post. I'm thinking that I would need a pair of headphones with a disabled left channel, so only the right channel is allowed to playback while I review the camera take on set. Can anyone recommend headphones that one can switch off the left channel, or have another solution that will allow a review of the synced audio/video clip on set? Thank you.

A: As you note, the Tentacle Sync 3.5mm Mini-Jack Microphone Y-Cable (12") is sending timecode as audio to the left channel of the camera's audio track. In this case, although rudimentary, the most simple solution would be to only monitor with one side of the headphones, physically removing the side emitting timecode from your ear. There are no suggestions for headphones that allow for disabling audio of one side or the other.

Q: 5. Will this work on a breakout box with 2 pin lemo female connection? This is just a right angle version of there straight 2 pin correct?

A: This is specifically made for the Alexa Mini Camera.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with Deity TC-1 ?

A: No, the Tentacle Sync C13 Tentacle to ALEXA Mini Cable is not compatible for use with the Deity Microphones TC-1 Wireless Timecode Generator Box. The TC-1 uses a locking 3.5mm connector and the Tentacle C13 cable has a non-locking 3.5mm connector. Instead, you can use the Deity Microphones C13 Right-Angle Locking 3.5mm TRS to Right-Angle 5-Pin LEMO Timecode Cable for Arri Alexa Mini (B&H # DEDTS0272D60).

Q: 7. Is this cable compatible with an Alexa "Classic" camera?

A: The Tentacle Sync Tentacle to ALEXA Mini Cable uses a dedicated Lemo connection specifically for the ALEXA Mini Camera. The Tentacle Sync Tentacle to 5-Pin LEMO Cable (BH #TEC02) is recommended for use with the Alexa Classic Camera: https://bhpho.to/3SewxSl

Q: 8. What cable does Komodo X use?

A: You can use the Tentacle Sync Tentacle to RED KOMODO Adapter Cable (B&H # TEC21) with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO-X 6K Digital Cinema Camera,

Q: 9. Can this work with Tascam 10L mic or any Pyle MEMS 10 over Ear Mic Headset

A: Yes, the Tentacle Sync Lockable 3.5mm Mini Jack for TRACK E can be used for a Tascam DR10L Microphone as well as any other microphone that requires a balanced cable.

Q: 10. I bought this cable and I'm have trouble sending time code from the tentacle to the iPhone. maybe I'm doing it wrong. How exactly does this work? Thanks

A: Tentacle normally works in Bluetooth. I receive time code from the Tentacle by downloading the app. The app reads the TC via Bluetooth. I've never used a cord with my iPhone. Hopefully this helps.

[12" (30 cm)] I use modest Fuji cameras to shoot video (X-T3 and X-T4). I wanted to get into timecode syncing. I was bummed that the Tentacle would take over the 3.5mm input jack, but when I started to look into how I could get around that I found that they make this item available. I was thus able to attach a Tentacle Sync device and a Deity short shotgun into a Fuji at the same time, using one half of the audio for the sync and the other to capture nice sound from the mic. There are probably cheaper cables for the same purpose, but I am pleased as punch that Tentacle anticipated this need.

[0.07 lb] These cables are hard to buy sometimes, just because of the price point. But its so worth it to have around just in case and I've always been glad I did. I do wish they put a little label or something making sure which end was which because it gets a little confusing when youre in the thick of things. But ended up making my own and everythings been great.
