The Radial Di-NET DAN-RX is a high-resolution Dante-enabled D/A converter designed for use in live sound, broadcast, and high-tech studio productions. Able to convert Dante-networked audio to stereo analog outputs, it offers an easy solution for routing Dante signals to analog headphones, speakers, mixers, or recording devices.

Connect signal from a Dante network via the Dante-enabled Ethernet jack. The built-in, high-resolution D/A converter outputs balanced, stereo analog audio at the two XLR jacks. Use the adjustable output level to allow proper gain staging when connecting to microphone preamps or line-level inputs. Connect the 3.5mm stereo output to a pair of headphones for easy monitoring of the signal, making troubleshooting quick.

The Di-NET DAN-RX features a 14-gauge steel enclosure for durability and indicators for power and sync status. Power can be supplied via the included 15 VDC power supply or PoE (Power over Ethernet).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this unit take a mono signal, and send it to both L&R outputs? Or do I need to split the signal into both L&R inputs?

A: You would have to send a signal into both left and right channels to get a left and right output. The Hosa Technology RCA Female to 2 RCA Male Y-Cable - 6", B&H # HOYCRF2RM can be used at the input to bring your mono signal into the unit.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the ultranet output of the Midas 32c ?

A: thank you for your question. The ultranet output is only personal monitoring systems such as the Behringer P-16M. To use this interface you would need to get the dante expansion card B&H # KLDN32DANTE.

Q: 3. Can I output balanced xlr to a PA and use the rca outputs at the same time for a local monitor?

A: Yes they are two separate outputs so they can be used at the same time.

Q: 4. Can this convert 16 channel analog input as well as 16 channel ADAT input at the same time to Dante?

A: The high-density converter provides 16 x 16 balanced analoge TRS-I/Os and can handle pro studio levels up to +20dBu – adjustable in 1 dB steps. Optional +24 dBU I/Os and/or CV outputs are available. Combined with a temperature-compensated high-precision clock and an active jitter reduction hardware design, the 354-channel DX delivers an exceptional detailed sound. On the digital side, the multi-format device provides an optical MADI I/O with 64 I/Os. 2 x 4 ADAT ports can convert all 16 analog I/Os – even with up to 96 kHz. On top of it, the DX adds 64 x 64 channels (bi-directional transmission and port redundancy) of Dante/AES67 to an already impressive array of various I/Os – unique in this size and price range. The Pulse16DX incorporates a Word Clock I/O and a MIDI I/O for embedding signals and remote control of the unit. Many popular features from the flagship A32 have been added as well: Preset Management, Panel Lock and the sophisticated routing matrix. The PULSE16 DX provides a sophisticated internal matrix for the free routing and splitting of all 176 Ins to all 176 Outs in blocks of 8 channels. The headphone output on the front allows it to monitor every mono or stereo I/O directly on the unit.

Q: 5. How much latency does the Adat to Dante conversion introduce? And how much latency is expected end to end between devices?

A: Ferrofish has not provided specifications for latency, however, they do offer some information regarding clocking provided by Dante and the ability to adjust latency: Dante provides reliable clocking via Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and a sophisticated clock master selection. It supports low latency operation which is adjustable from 150 microseconds to 5 ms (default: 1 ms for up to 10 switches). Dante includes a suite of diagnostic tools, monitoring the network health status, e. g. device latency monitoring, active clock health monitoring, packet error reporting, and usage statistics.

Q: 6. Does this version send a beep through the audio output when it's in pairing mode/when it loses signal with the device? The first version did, hoping this one solved that.

A: No, the Radial Engineering BT-PRO V2 Stereo Bluetooth Direct Box does not send any beep or chime sounds through the audio output when it is in pairing mode or if it loses Bluetooth signal with the device it is connected to.

Q: 7. Can this product be used with Cat7 ethernet cable and would there be any benefit in doing so?

A: Yes, a Cat7 cable is backwards compatible with Cat5 and Cat6 systems. You can use a Cat7 cable with this product, however there will be no added benefit.

Q: 8. What distance can this be used to send remote audio from a PC output source to a recorder?

A: The Catapult Mini system can send a signal up to a maximum of 300’ without issue. However, due to the economical nature of ethernet cable these systems are susceptible to interference from the surrounding environment. Because of this how long it can actually run will vary by the location. This system works in correlation with the Radial Engineering Catapult Mini TX 4-Channel Cat 5 Audio Snake, BH #RAR8008028. You will need bot the transmitter and receiver.

Q: 9. I just need to raise the level of an unbalanced signal with RCA connectors. RCA to RCA but with higher level. Can I do it with this equipment?

A: Yes, the Rolls MB15b Promatch 2-Way Stereo Converter will raise a consumer level (-10 dB) stereo RCA audio signal to a balanced, full line level (+4 dB) output signal.

Q: 10. Does it come with Toslink to Toslink Optical Audio Cable?

A: According to the manufacturer's item details there is a 3-foot optical cable included.

[Up to 96 kHz] I use this box to connect a mac mini to Powered JBL Monitors. I really like the gain knob on the unit, and Radial products are always built like a tank. This solved my problem and I would buy again.

[2-channel] I found these because I needed a more affordable Dante interface for Webex Room Kit integrations with Ceiling Conference Microphones using Dante. For Webex Room kits, they only accept Mic Level inputs so the switchable line level to mic level worked perfectly.
It only needed a $11 of parts with a TRRS 4 pin Phoenix adapter and a female XLR pigtail.
Works perfectly, sounds great, much cheaper than the alternative.

[1.6 lb / 0.7 kg] This is what I was looking for for a pair of remote powered speakers. My only bit of annoyance is that I bought a powersupply for the unit, not knowing that it already comes with one. There is currently no mention on the B&H web page that one comes with the unit.

[2.09 lb] I bought this for the 300’ run from my location sound cart to the video village IFB transmitter. Camera department didn’t mind it living on their cart since it’s so small, and the transmitter end fits in mixer bag nicely. It’s robust, small, noiseless, and perfectly fit the bill for my application.
