The Heliopan 39mm Linear Polarizer Filterhelps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A linear polarizer differs from a circular polarizer in that it does not supports use of a camera's autofocus or auto exposure functions; it is best suited for use with manual cameras, such as view cameras, that are not dependent on internal mechanisms to determine focus or metering settings.

The front and rear surfaces of the filter both feature a single anti-reflection coating. Each coating helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, they offer protection to the filter substrate while helping to keep the glass clean for longer than uncoated glass.

This Heliopan filter is constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. It features a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.

Single coatings on both the front and rear offer protection to the glass and help to improve light transmission and image quality.

Constructed from Schott glass for optical clarity.

Brass filter ring helps to prevent jamming and provides additional strength.

Dual threading with 39mm front filter threads permits combining with other filters.

Q: 1. HI, will this fit Leica Summicron 35mm with 39mm filter size?

A: Yes- I use it on my 35mm summicron asph. The only problem is using it with the swuare lens shade- canlt really reach the filter when the shade is on.

Q: 2. Can this lens be used with Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70 16.1 MP Digital Camera with 60x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3-Inch LCD (Black)?

A: You do not want to use a linear polarizing filter with today's Digital cameras. PL filters can cause unpredictable exposure or focusing problems. Your bets bet would be a circular polarizer.

Q: 3. Does this remove refelxes in car glasses?//noelcom

A: Yes it will, but it may not be the correct filter if you are using a DSLR camera. How to select the correct Polarizing FilterTwo kinds of polarizing filters are the PL (Linear Polarizing) andPL-CIR (Circular Polarizing) filters which have the same effect ofreducing glare, however, there are differences in the way each worksin combination with your specific camera so it is important toresearch and choose the correct version of filter for your camera. Many of today's cameras use semi-silvered mirrors or prisms to splitthe light (a.k.a. beam) entering the viewfinder in order tocalculate exposure and focusing distance. PL filters can sometimesinteract with these light controlling devices to give unpredictableexposure or focusing. If your camera, whether auto or manual, isequipped with this kind of device, we recommend using a PL-CIR filter. Both types of filters allow you not only to remove unwantedreflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc., butalso filter out atmospheric haze enabling colors to become moresaturated and appear clearer with a much sharper contrast. These effects will prove to be invaluable to photographers at anylevel of interest.

Q: 4. Can I place this filter on the outside of a Fuji Super EBC Protector 39mm? (clear glass) without an adverse effect?

A: I never stack polarize filter on top of clear protector

Q: 5. Thickness? Need 30.5 mm polarizer that will fit in filter drawer of 600 mm catadioptric. Filter needs to be 7 mm thick.

[Glass] It's well constructed and durable. I use it frequently when shooting outdoors. I would recommend purchasing a 39mm stack cap to protect this and any other 39mm filters.

[39 mm] I've used polarizers of the 77mm to 82mm variety and never had thoughts that a filter affixed to such a small thread would be as effective, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the impact of the 39mm version was as immediately apparent as those of the larger radii. Expensive, but well worth the price of admission!
