A: The filters will not harm the glass.

Q: 5. I just purchased the LED500 and it has a clear piece of plastic that can slide in and out and sits infront of the LED's. Can the additional filters that can be purchased be swapped out with this clear plastic or do I need the diffusion frame? I can see an answer from 2015 saying I require the frame but wondering if the units I bought in 2019 have a different design which means I don't need too?

A: The newer Silver series 500 LED and the older LED500 have different shapes and filters. This one requires a filter frame.

A: It may be difficult with some of the more flexible/flimsy sheets, you are much better of with scissors or xacto knife.

Q: 7. Is it really 9.5 lbs? I am a little worried about the weight.

A: It is a heavy matte box, it is about a 1.5kg (3.3lbs) without the flags and hard mattes, and 15mm rod adapter. In my case I have a F55 and an Alexa so it is not over kill. The box it came in was about 12lbs. Great build.

A: The answer is...it depends. You notice focal lengths are not listed for matte boxes like this. That is because it depends on the sensor, the camera, the lens and the matte box what will precisely work. That being said, we would say that this matte box should have no problem with an 18mm on Super35 and 24mm on full frame. Depending on all above conditions, wider than those lengths may be possible. However, we would tend to think that the real answer for 10mm on Super35 and/or 14mm on full frame would either be a single filter clip-on matte box or a two filter 6.6 x 6.6 matte box.

A: Never, ever let Rosco (or similar) material touch a halogen lamp—the material will melt, stick to the lamp, possibly stick to the fixture, and cause the lamp to fail. On the other hand, a tota-frame will hold tough spun 10 inches from a 1 KW Lowell fixture with no problem—or clipped to barn-doors. I suggest you try the different products out in pre-production.
