Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a Fuji XT 1, the 60mm macro which does 1:2 and the MCEX 16 extender. Can I configure this to use with my set up?

A: not sure, but I'd guess probably not since you're using Fuji equipment and this is specifically designed for Nikon micro lenses.

Q: 2. Has anyone used the Tamron 60MM F2 macro lens with this adapter?

A: No. I used it with a Nikon 60mm lens.

Q: 3. I purchased the ES-1 and the 27mm PK-13 Extension and have them set up on a D90 with a Nikor 55mm macro lens and a UV filter. With the ES-1 fully extended 70mm and the lens focused at a lens length of 70mm (for a total slide-to-image distance of 167mm), I get a nicely focused full frame shot of my slide. The only problem is that the bottom of the image is slightly cropped. It seems with experimentation that I would have to move the slide about another 150mm off the lens and then refocus a bit to remedy this problem. But everything I read indicates that this set up should work. Is some cropping inevitable. Do I need a longer tube?

A: Since the D90 has a DX sensor, you need less magnification to copy a slide than 1:1. With a 55 mm Micro-Nikkor, you will need a PK-13 extension tube between the camera and lens to achieve 1:1.5 magnification, and a K extension between the lens and the ES-1. K tubes are only available used, and are 52 mm M to F adapters in several lengths.

Q: 4. Will this fit a Z 50mm lens?

A: Depends on 50mm lens used. I would suggest using the following for a good shooting experience Nikon 55mm f/2.8 Micro-Nikon lens and PK-13 Extension Tube.

Q: 5. I have a Tamron 60 macro, and shoot with a Nikon 850. will this work with the ES-1?

A: This is made for Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor witch has 52mm filter thread and Tamron is 55mm, so you will need step up ring , but the 60mm will crop the slide abbot 10% that's the reason it will not work for me

Q: 6. Have any thing for Canon?

A: Hi Ron , I purchased this Nikon slide copy adapter for use with my Canon 50mm F/2.5 macro lens with the Canon Life-Size converter EF. The threads on both, lens and SL-1, are 52mm. No step down or step up ring required. I used it on a 7D so the image is cropped on camera. I do not have a FF camera at the moment. The results were very satisfactory. I shot on ISO-100,F-5.6/or F-8, camera on a tripod with RS-80N3 remote switch. Manual focused, played with the shutter speed to see what would give me the best digital reproduction . Light source for me was an led lamp with diffuser about a foot away from the SL-1.With this set up the SL1 was fully extended and manual focus was maxed out. I hope this helps you !!!!!

Q: 7. Can I make this work with a Canon RP? A step down adapter s easy, but I don’t have a macro lens. I do have a 24-105mm f/4 and a NiSi closeup adapter.

A: No, this is meant to work with Nikon macro lenses.

Q: 8. Will it work with a Nikon 35-70mm f/3.5 AI-s macro with a 62 to 52mm adapter ring? Thanks!

A: No idea. Don't have the setup to even try. Good luck!

Q: 9. Does ES-1 work with Nikon D3300 and its kit 18-55 mm lens?

A: No unfortunately, Nikon ES-1 Slide Copying Adapter is only compatible Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor lens and the Nikon PK-13 extension tube.

Q: 10. Will the es-1 work on my Nikon CoolPics 5700?

A: I do not Think so. I have a 55mm Macro Nikkor Lens and a PK-13 adapter...Works fine but does get the full frame of a slide. Maybe 80 t0 90 %.From what I was told it was made for that setup ( 55mm Macro Nikkor Lens and a PK-13 ) ! It screws into the threads of a 52mm.I would also like to add that I am shooting with a Nikon 5200. That may make a difference as well because the size of the Sensor and distance from the slide to the sensor ( It helps to have a skylight filter ).

[0.35 oz / 10 g] The ES-2 is more deluxe but this one does what is needed and once set up, is just as easy to use as the fancier version. This ES-1 is especially the choice for someone experienced and who already has a few other useful devices on hand. For such a person ... like me ... this device NOT LIMITED to the specific lenses that Nikon built it for and is also not limited to only 1:1 use ... IOW it can crop and it can fit many other lenses from various formats of cameras.

The 2 keys to making it verrrry versatile are:

A. Step up, or down, rings if your lens is not 52mm filter size.

B. A set of very basic obsolete manual extension tubes [not need to be for Nikon]. Most of these old sets use 52mm M-F tubes of 3 different lengths. The 52mm tubes come in handy for adapting the ES-1 to macro lenses of
longer than 55 or 60mm FL.

If none of that makes sense to you, you should get the ES-2 instead of the ES-1.

[Flat] Got this to photograph slides since my Nikon Coolscan is no longer functional, and no one will repair it. Easy to use with Canon 50 2.5 macro and 25 mm ext. tube on 5dIV to get nearly full frame, full res. raw files. Flexibility of being able to work from a raw file has given new life to some of those irreplaceable old film images. Used it for 2+ years and it's been a blessing.

[Swivel Hook] Works great combined with an inexpensive TTArtisan 40mm f2.8 Macro lens on a Canon M50. I'm copying a series of 50 year old Kodachrome slides and the quality is very good.

A previous review of the 40mm TTArtisan + ES-1 gave me the confidence to order both. I appreciate everyone that takes the time to review their purchases. Thank you!

[Flat] This adapter works well with any MFT camera and the Olympus 30mm MFT macro lens or the Olympus 12-50mm MFT zoom lens. The 30mm lens takes 46mm filters, so one needs to buy a 46mm to 52mm step up ring because the ES-1 has a 52mm diameter screw thread. The 12-50 mm takes a 52mm filter so it doesn't need a step-up ring and it has a useful macro mode. Either of these lenses focus close enough to be used with the ES-1 without any extension tubes between them. The ES-1 can also be used with the Olympus 60mm macro lens, but that lens does not focus close enough for the ES-1 to be used with it without an extension tube between them.

[Swivel Hook] The ads say that it connects and works with Nikon lenses, but when you do a little research, you find out it needs either a bellows or close-up lenses (supposedly even with a macro lens). However, once you get set up, it works great.

[0.375" / 10 mm] Very handy with a Manfrotto Super Clamp on a C-Stand. Many uses. Use it to hang coiled cable, head phones, camera and gear bags, sandbags where needed. Use both hooks mounted on C-Stands to support a crossbar for backdrops or adding lights.

[Polypropylene] I am using the ES-1along with a PK-13 extension tube and an old Nikkor AIS 55mm/3.5 Micro. All of this attached to my D-750. I duplicated 2 - 35mm slides that I perviously scanned with my Nikon Coolscan 5000ED years ago. Will never forgive Nikon for abandoning their loyal customers by not keeping up with software for this great unit!! Anyway, comparing the results were quite astonishing! Obviously, you have to spend a little more time in CS-6 doing the job the ICE did with the Coolscan but its well worth it. I could not tell the difference! All this, PK-13 and the ES-1 for about $150 compared to $500 for after market software for the 5000ED is a no brainer. I highly recommend this product.
