[Carabiner] I bought 5 of these cameras for my HS photography class and the kids love them. They are very user friendly and they love the touch screen. An excellent starter camera for my students. The simple descriptions of each setting in manual mode is very helpful for the beginners that tend to forget what does what.

[0.55 lb] This is one great little camera. I say little because it feels as light as a moderate point-and-shoot, but it's definitely not. That is the main marketable feature of the camera. I really just love the ease of use of it. It's pretty easy to use, especially if you've already owned a Canon DSLR already. The 18-55mm lens is quiet and sturdy, and the touch screen is handy. I would just suggest turning the touch shutter off, so you're not accidentally taking photos. I use it mostly for fashion and food blogging, so I'm not using it to it's full potential, but I plan on it soon.

[Black] This is my novice entrance into photography. From what I can tell the camera is great for a beginner. It came highly recommended by friends that are professional photographers. Everything is easy to get to and is pretty light. This body will last me a good while and I look forward to see in it produces everytime I pick it up.

[0.55 lb] We just got the camera and we are already thrilled with the performance. We took the camera on a trip with kids and came home with beautiful pictures using this combo in addition to the 55-250 stm lens. Switching back and forth between lenses wasn't a big deal at all and the capabilities increase dramatically with both lenses. We were skeptical as the camera is marketed as a smaller less expensive family friendly model, but after seeing the crisp SLR caliber photos, it really is a high-quality product. Also, the battery life supposedly isn't as great as the T5i, but we still haven't had to charge it over 4 days of our trip. Both lenses and the camera fit well in the bag provided when purchasing. I would say that we haven't yet tried it so much indoors so can't comment on low light. Tried sports mode when kids going down a waterslide and works beautifully.

[Black] Overall a great value! Easy to use and takes both great pictures and videos. Lightweight and compact versus the big and heavy DSLR with comparable image quality and special effects for editing images. This is the camera I take with me on my carry on when traveling.

[Black] I wanted an updated DSLR to replace an old EOS Rebel and wished to dedicate it to 'Big Bertha' my wife's telephoto zoom, so I didn't want to spend a lot, but i needed a capable camera that would not disappoint. I got the SL1 because it had many features of its bigger brothers yet was inexpensive and very light. Some claim to want a beefier DSLR to 'balance' their heavy lens. After lugging around such a heavy combo, I opted for the opposite approach. Buying the SL1 reminded me of buying my VW Rabbit instead of the GTI. You get most of the desired features, lose some performance, but still get all the fun while saving a lot of cash. This camera will not disappoint.
