This 55mm Hoya RA56 Green Enhancer Filter 55mmfrom Hoya RA56 Green Enhancer Filter 55mmis designed to enhance colors in the green spectrum without changing or having negative effects on other colors. Combining the Green Enhancer with a circular polarizer or a UV filter will also increase the saturation of the color and the sharpness of an image, such as foliage in a landscape shot.

The glass filter has a filter factor of 2.5, so you should increase your exposure by 1 and 1/3 of a stop to compensate. Transmission of light passes easier through the filter because of a single type of coating, which has been placed on both sides of the glass, reducing reflections off the surface of the filter. The ring is made of aluminum, adding strength and protection to the lens while it is screwed on.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm looking for the Hoya Enhancing (Intensifier) Glass Filter, wanting to use mainly in lens 18-55 (52 mm), but also would like to use on my 50 mm f/1.8 g, then I'd buy the 58 mm filter and adapter https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1068079-REG/sensei_surpa_5258_pro_52_58mm_aluminum_step_up.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1068079-REG/sensei_surpa_5258_pro_52_58mm_aluminum_step_up.html/a for use on the 18-55.I need to know if that would cause any vignetting in 18-55 18 mm.Thanks!?

A: Hi Igor!I use the 58mm filter on a few different lenses, including a 24 with a 52mm adapter. Since you are going from smaller to larger you should have no issue. If you were to try to use a 52mm filter on a 58mm 18-55 then you may have an issue because you're down sizing. Since you're pushing it up in size there should be no issue. Hope the filter works well for you!

Q: 2. Will this work will a Sony FDR-AX53? It use a 55mm filter?

A: Yes, the Hoya Star 6X Filter (55mm) will fit on the Sony FDR-AX53 4K Ultra HD Handycam Camcorder.

Q: 3. Is there a comparable filter to this for use with a Formatt Hitech 67mm Aluminum Holder?

A: No equivalent square filter for daylight . For astrophotography PureNight makes a square glass light pollution reduction filter.

Q: 4. I have a Nikon lense which takes the 52mm size screw in filters. the lense is a 55mm. so I am looking at 52mm filters and step up rings. the question is, are the threads on this ring compatible with the rings on my Nikon? are thread sizes the same brand to brand? is it universal like mini usb charging adaptors for cell phones. since Nikon doesn't make many filters etc for its lenses I keep seeing all these from different brands and am curious if they are compatible. my lense is 18-55mm and I would love to enhance fall colours. thank you.

A: Filter threads are standard. If you have a 55mm lens, you need to get a larger filter size, and use a step up ring from your lens to the filter. If you use a smaller 52mm filter on a 55mm lens, you will have a large round black border around your entire picture because of the vignetting.

Q: 5. How can I get 82mm size Hoya Green Enhancer (Green Field) Filter?

A: At this time, we do not carry an 82mm Hoya Green Enhancer Filter.

Q: 6. Can these filters be used together, in what combinations? Do they have threads on both sides?

A: Yes, you can stack theses filters in any order you like. Typically the UV filter goes on first, then either the polarizer or nd, keep in mind too many filters stacked can cause vignetting (darken of the edges) especially on a wide angle lens.

Q: 7. Would this be ideal for someone recording nighttime conerts with lots of artificial lights at night time?

A: I would not recommend using any filter for night time concerts. The Red Enhancer filter is made to enhance fall foliage.

Q: 8. is this work with Nikon D7100 ?

A: It will work with any digital camera, however, you are most likely looking at a 20-30 second exposure at ISO200. This filter on a film camera with ISO 400 film is rated at 8-12 ISO so you will have to compensate accordingly. Also, all composition must be done prior to putting the filter on the lens as you will not be able to see once it is in place.

Q: 9. What is the filter factor for this lens. I am guessing it costs 1.5 stops?

A: This filter has a filter factor of 2.5, so you should increase your exposure by 1 and 1/3 of a stop to compensate.

Q: 10. Are your didymium filters suitable to film and photograph flame working? We have to wear didymium lenses to eliminate sodium flare while working glass in the flame.

A: I use mine mainly with Canon IS binoculars at nght. It really brings out the gas clouds that surround the nebula in Orions belt. Also you can see Jupiters moons clearer.

[0.1 lb] Wrth the money guys. It'll make taking those greens a lot easier and you don't get that heavy green cast on your shadows like you would in Photoshop.

[0.1 lb] This is a wonderful accompaniment for a photographer. Especially for beginners. Great on colors in the fall and bringing definition. For night-time astrophotography pics of stars, does wonders with minimizing light pollution glare.
