A: Unfortunately, the ceiling needs to be completely level in order to properly lock the Varipoles in place.

Q: 4. Is this setup fast to setup/teardown? I'm looking for a fast solution to doing mobile photo setups with multiple kinds of backdrops.

A: It takes two people and a ladder to setup. The actual process is not to difficult and should be easy enough with two people.

Q: 5. How wide is the crossbar at minimum?

A: The cross bar is broken into two sections, both 59 in length.

Q: 6. Does this work on carpet flooring? (i.e., will it still be stable with soft carpeting on the bottom)

A: Yes it does. My floor is carpet and it works perfectly. Hope this helps.

Q: 7. Is there a way to add friction to the chains? We are using weights and once the paper gets close to the floor the chain system does not have enough tension to hold.

A: Yes, there are knobs on the roller system you can loosen or tighten to add friction.

Q: 8. Will this work on a slanted ceiling (A-frame) where the angles/pitch is roughly 45 degrees?

A: When I installed this system the ceiling rafters did not line up where I needed them, so I cut 12 X12 plywood 3/4 thick, painted it white and placed the plywood between the varipoles and ceiling to spread the load. Worked like a charm. No damage to the ceiling! As for installing on slanted ceiling - since the rubber cups do not pivot, I would not recommend it...

Q: 9. Can this be used with out the chain?

A: Yes the drives can be used without the chains if there isn't a need to bring the rolls up or down frequently.

[1.1 oz (31.2 g)] I use my varipoles daily, and move them often. One struggle with that is keeping the poles level. I used a small handheld level for a long time, but it was always a clumsy operation. While I wouldn't mind if these were a tad bit cheaper in cost, they simplify and reduce time in my small studio workflow to a great extent. I recommend them. 5

[1.1 oz (31.2 g)] The bubble level is easy to read. The leveler holds onto the pole by the rubber cord. The tension of the cord is sufficient to keep the leveler in place. I have piece of mind that each of my Varipoles are straight and that the foot on each end is applying pressure equally across them. This is easy and simple to connect it to a pole. It's made of light plastic with the rubber cord that wraps around the pole. It's construction is more than sufficient to serve the purpose of helping you to level your varipole. 5
