Fishman Prefix Pro Blend Preamp For Acoustic Instruments

Fishman Prefix Pro Blend Preamp For Acoustic Instruments

$1,109.85 $1,564.89

The narrow format Prefix Pro Blend from Fishman is a preamp system designed to offer simple and versatile controls in a small housing for slim-bodied acoustic-electric instruments. The system includes the preamp unit, a Fishman Switchjack stereo 1/4" endpin jack, and a Fishman Acoustic Matrix pickup. The Prefix Pro Blend features a Blend knob, which allows you to set the desired mix of the internal microphone and Fishman pickup.

Equalization is handled via 3-band EQ controls (Bass, Contour, and Treble). The frequency of the Contour band can be varied from 250 Hz to 10 kHz. The Volume control can be used to make up for any level changes incurred by drastic equalization. Combat feedback problems, common in live performance scenarios, by adjusting the Notch control. When mixing signals from pickups and external microphones together, use the Phase switch to maintain phase coherency.

The Prefix Pro Blend is powered via a single 9V battery (available separately). A convenient low-battery LED indicator lights up when the battery is nearing the end of its life, which extends up to 140 hours. Battery replacement is easy due to the pivot design of the preamp’s control panel.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are the input and output impedances in this description correct? They're backwards from other the other Bellari preamp, and mismatched for common turntable cartridges as far as I can tell, but exactly backwards so I bought something else. I wanted this one, but since the company did not respond to my question, I did not buy one. Maybe someone has one and can test it.

A: Yes. The listed input and impedances of: Input: 47 K ohm (high impedance) and Output: 32 ohms(low impedance) These are the correct specs and typical (though the output impedance is lower than most phono pre-amps.

Q: 2. Can this be used in place of a mic activator, such as a cloud lifter ?

A: Yes, you can use the TubeOpto instead of a Cloudlifer. The TubeOpto can be used with dynamic and condenser microphones while the Cloudlifter is specifically for use with dynamic mics. The Cloudlifer has a passive design that uses phantom power from the mic input you connecting to and can add up to 25 dB of clean gain. The TubeOpto does much more than just add clean gain since it is fully featured tube-based mic preamp. Its eight channels each have their own input and output gain controls which can add up to 70 dB of clean gain as well as additional features to shape the sound.

Q: 3. How to download the practice files that are in the book?

A: There is a link in the book to download free files to work along with the author.

Q: 4. Is this preamp good for voice over recording?

A: The EZ-MPA2 is ideal for adding microphone inputs to mixers and amplifiers with line inputs, and it can be used in houses of worship, restaurants, clubs, meeting rooms, educational facilities, conference rooms, studios and commercial sound systems. -------------------This product is not designed or recommended for voice-over or other vocal recording projects.

Q: 5. Is the Art TubeOpto configured for 230 V when it's sent to Europe?

A: I had the Art TubeOpto sent to Australia and it was not configured for 240 V so I am using a power transformer to use it.

Q: 6. Is there an output jack for headphones?

A: No there is not.

Q: 7. This preamp have warranty?

A: This mic preamp comes with a five year, transferable warranty from Grace Design.

Q: 8. Most of these AD2022's are silver...any difference with this black one?

A: There is no difference between the black and silver versions of the Avalon Design AD2022 Microphone Preamp.

Q: 9. I have just realised that these are incopatible with my Klark Teknick CT1 Mic Booster as the CT1 requires 48V phantom power and the Rolls MP13 provides 24V. Can you recommend a quiet, affordable alternative?

A: ART Tube MP Preamplifier B&H # ARTUBEMP Single-Channel Tube-Based Hand-Selected 12AX7A Vacuum Tube Variable Input & Output Gain Control Ideal as a Tube DI Box XLR & 1/4" Connections Inexpensive, Professional Performance Exceptionally Low Noise A Staple in Many Studios

Q: 10. is this worth it even if the turntable has built in preamp?

A: If your turntable has a built-in phono preamp, then this pre is not required. The benefit to using an external phono preamp is usually based in the coloring of the sound it brings to the output of the record. External phono preamps of good quality, such as this, can offer more depth and clarity to the audio signal. As well, the cartridge impedance selector on this device can help you get the most out of the cartridge used.

[-20 dBV] This small amp packs more tone and clarity than you would think possible. Bob Sima uses these with acoustic guitars and headset mics and they sound great. I used mine today for a small acoustic gig. GREAT for small rooms where you just need a little boost because playing unamplified just doesn't quite cut it. The ONLY thing I wish they had done differently would have been to have a mid control on the vocal channel. Instrument channel has low, mid, and high. Vocal channel just has low and high. I agree with some other reviews that I've seen that the LoudBox Mini sounds better than some of the larger models. They got something right with this one.

[-12 dBV] Was looking for a small amp to use with my acoustic guitar and dynamic mic for singing at outdoor events. This is quite portable, sounds great and is easy to use. Fishman was the brand recommended by my songwriting instructor. Saved some money thanks to a special sale. Very pleased.

[102 dB] I'm a jazz guitarist playing an 8-string classical guitar that goes higher and lower than a regular guitar. It has a K & K pickup and I my amp is a JBL EON powered speaker, which, for this instrument sounds better than any jazz guitar amp. I have used the Zoom A-3 preamp as well as an L.R. Baggs Venue DI. They are both very good but I'd say the Grace Alix is the best I've found. It has great features you can read about but I must say that the sound of my guitar with the EQ set flat is strong, clear and simply amazing! It's very well thought out. Worth the price.

[0.7 lb] Great sound coming out of this from my warmup guitarist. As a DJ I use my PA system a lot, but my accompanying guitar player (for weddings/special events etc) uses this through the same system and gets immaculate tone out of it. You'd think he was using his amp. Really great product

[1 x 1/4" TRS] Great switch with a long cable. Mute and FX B selectable which makes this great for guitar and vocal cafe setup. Would be nice to have a channel select rather than an FX B but still a good unit.
