Q: 1. I'm buying some film and developer - it's been 20 ears since I last developed film, so I'm a bit rusty. For now I'm not looking for some advanced technique, just the basics.1 gallon of developer, how many films will it develop (120 mm)I'll be mixing 1:1. 1 gallon developer 1 gallon water=2 gallons. So is it almost 20 rolls of 120 film per gallon? And developer is single use, but fixer is recyclable, so what is the ratio, how much fixer should I get compared to developer? Like is it 1 gallon fixer to 5 gallons developer? (I'm just picking numbers out of the blue as an example)How many times do you recycle fixer?I don't live in the US so chemistry needs to be as a powder or it will be too expensive to send, and there are regulations on sending fluids. Stop bath I'll just rinse with water or diluted white vinegar, wetting agent I'll use dish soap. So all I need is developer and fixer. But how much per something like 20 rolls of film?

A: Hello, I only use strait D-76 mixed to a gallon. I dev 120 all the time. I can get about 15-20 rolls out of a gallon. But after the first 10 or so, you want to start adding time, like a minute. If negs look a little thin then add more. the best negs come at the end with all the silver thats in the developer. I wouldn't do 1:1. I have always done strait at 68 degrees. 7 min for 400. Pretty sure that certain fluids won't ship. As far as fixer, I re-use mine till its dead. you can start to tell when the negs look purple after 5 min, so I just got a couple min longer....hope this helps

Q: 2. Once mixed how long does this solution last?

A: The official shelf life for Kodak Professional D-76 Film Developer in liquid form is 6 months in a closed bottle; it is usually good for a bit longer than that.

Q: 3. Using D-76 to develop Tri-X 400 pushed to asa / iso 1600. How much extra time to develop film? 35mm 36ex

A: Hi Kelly, I made an error. Please use times 10.5 and 7 respectively. Sorry chuck

Q: 4. What is the shelf life of the D-76 in the package?I found a package that I have left since 2006)Can it be applied?

A: As long as it hasn't been stored in high heat, it should be fine. The best would be if you could mix the old envelope with a new envelope to make sure the effectiveness is best.

Q: 5. Can this developer (D-76) be used for one time or for few rolls of film?

A: I use it in a 5 roll can then throw it out. I do use my film Fix again as paper fix if its not more than a couple of days between uses

Q: 6. To mix D-76 you put all the contents of the package in 1 gallon of water to make the stock solution, correct? Then when it comes time to develop a roll of film, do you dilute the stock solution? Do you reuse this developer after you develop 1 roll of film or do you discard? Thank you!

A: Hi, Arlen:You can either dilute the stock dilution 1+1 with water or use it straight. My preference for roll film is to use it straight, although I know that some photographers use it diluted. I dilute this developer 1+1 when I develop 4x5 film.Remember that D-76 reduces the film speed by almost 1 stop. For instance, when I shoot Kodak T-max 400, I shoot at 320. For 35 mm film, my developer of choice is Kodak XTol because in my experience it doesnt reduce the speed film, so I can shoot at 400 ASA. These are my personal preferences, and they work for me. Other photographers may think otherwise. May you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask.

Q: 7. What is the difference between the 2019 version of D76 and previous versions?

A: There is no difference between versions just different packaging and sku #'s.

Q: 8. What's shelf life for this developer? (Full sealed container and half full)

A: The Legacy Pro LMAX Liquid Film Developer has about a 2 year shelf life for a sealed bottle. Due to variable storage conditions, they cannot specify the shelf life of an open or half full bottle.

Q: 9. what replenisher do you use for d76?

A: While there is a dedicated D76 Replenisher from Kodak, item 146 4833, it is something we no longer carry.

Q: 10. Can this be used to develop Ilford HP5 rolls?

A: Yes Kodak D76 developer can develop Ilford HP5 film rolls.

[2 lb] This stuff works great. I've been able to use HC110 times and dilutions with no issue.

[Liquid] With the spotty availability of HC110 and its ever increasing cost I decided to give LC110 a go. I was not disappointed. I used my usual time, temperature, and dilution. These gave me the same results as with HC110 without any testing to establish exposure indexes etc.

[2 lb] Some time ago Kodak discontinued T-Max roll developer. This replacement works very well. It is much more reactive in the process, so you will need to test a roll to determine new exposure settings for your captures.
Depending on your camera and lens the exposure change can be up to 4-stops. Once I re-calibrated my shooting I am happy with being able to hand hold in dimmer lighting. An alternative would be to adjust development temperature and timing.

[Film Developer] Performs identically to HC110 with the same process times. Still the best universal developer on the market.
