Q: 1. Hi. We have the VGA version of this unit, with the second input used for 'guest' laptops. When a guest laptop is connected, the switcher automatically defaults to that laptop. Otherwise, it displays the #1 input, which is a room computer. I'd just like to confirm that this unit does the same thing? This unit would be connected to an 82" Samsung display. Thanks.

A: Yes, The Kramer VS-211X automatically switches according to the selected switching scheme based on active video signal detection.

Q: 2. Does the receiver require power or just the transmitter? can't tell from the listing.

A: Both the receiver and transmitter require power. Two 5VDC power adapters are included in the package.

Q: 3. is the extender IP based? is it able to be fed through a switch in its own VLAN? or does it have to be a direct connection on both ends?

A: My assumption is that it would need to be a direct connection. I have not tried it on a vlan. Based on the information on their site, it would need to be directly connected, as it seems to encode the signal and send it over the copper to be decoded at the other end by the receiver.

Q: 4. Does this come with rack mount?

A: Yes, this unit is 1 RU.

Q: 6. Can this record 4k 60 on each bnc?

A: It cannot, this product has four 3G-SDI inputs. It can accept 4K signals, but when using multiple SDI connections for the one signal.

Q: 7. Will this run over Cat 5e?

A: Hi Ryan. These units only support CAT6 and above, so they won't work with CAT5e unfortunately. I apologize for the inconvenience!

Q: 8. Are there additional receivers available? I want to put these on a switch.

A: I'm sorry, but Ocean Matrix does not currently sell the receiver from the Ocean Matrix 1080p HDMI Extender over Single Cat 6 with Loop-Through Output by itself, so for now the receivers are only able to be purchased along with the transmitter.

Q: 9. does this card work as an IO device for davinci resolve?

A: NO it does NOT, resolve will only work with Black magic cards and NOTHING ELSE

[FCC, RoHS, WEEE] Replaced another manufacturer's HDMI over CAT6 extender which was intermittently dropping the HDMI handshake and which did not have the loop-through output needed to feed a new 3 to 1 switch added to our projection system at church. CAT 6 run from transmitter to receiver is about 150'. The replaced unit cost over 4 times that of the Ocean Matrix 1080p HDMI Extender. Not a single drop out in 3 weeks of operation! Only minor disadvantage of the Ocean Matrix unit is the requirement of providing power at both transmitter and receiver whereas the other manufacturer's units needed power at only one end. 5

[FCC, RoHS, WEEE] Our old extender was causing the image going to our projector to go blank for about 4 seconds at random times. I replaced it with the Ocean Matrix Extender and the problem went away. An added bonus is the HDMI feed through on the transmitter. This allowed us to hook up a small monitor so that we don't have to turn on the projector every time we want to setup our service. So far, so good! 5
