A: The KVM has two kinds of USB ports, keyboard / mouse specific and general. The specific ones are connected to KVM itself then repeated as emulated device to computers. The general one just works as directly attached USB device. If you connect your mouse or keyboard on generic USB port, they works just like they are connected to computer so they should work as expected. However if you connect through specific port, the mouse or keyboard needs to be a standard USB HID mouse or keyboard to work properly. That means generally bluetooth technology won't work, and some keyboard and mouse with advanced features won't work.

Q: 2. Are powered switches like this more reliable than passive switches?

A: The IOGEAR 3-Port True DCI/UHD 4K HDMI Switch will be very reliable. But if you compare it with a button-based HDMI switch, like the model below from Kramer, it would be a more reliable, better-quality switch. Kramer SWT3-41-H 4x1 4K60 HDMI Switcher BH #KRSWT341H

Q: 3. Will this adapter support conversion of the Mini DisplayPort video signal into an HDMI signal up to UHD 4K @ 60Hz? Will the adapter support the 4:4:4 color format (true RGB color) without the visual color degradation? Those of us with Macbook Pros (Retina 2015) with AMD Radeon R9 M370X cards would like to know if this device will work to get 60Hz.

Q: 5. Why does this output to hdmi instead of display? isn't there a capability loss with that ?

A: For general use there would be no capability loss between the two formats based on what the IOGEAR 4-Port 4K Triple View DisplayPort KVMP Switch is capable of.

Q: 6. If i hook up a hdmi splitter to the output (console) will it support dual monitors?

A: Don't thinks so also this devices is big and gets glichy when it over heats

Q: 7. Are there problems using between Mac mini and desktop pc? Product info says it is cross OS compatible, but some reviews say it does not work with Mac. They could be setting up improperly, but these things also have a history of having issues detecting displays between OS X and windows.

A: I have personally used this with a Mac Mini and a Windows desktop and had Zero issues. It work perfectly just as expected

[13.1 x 8.4 x 4"] Because you can enter a 1..4 number after the double hot-key, you can jump to whatever console you want. This is handy because I have 2 PCs and 2 Raspberry Pi's attached and the frequency of use is disproportionate between them. I have to say the front buttons being metal flaps are weird, but I never use them. If you did, you might appreciate a real physical switch. I expect these are mini-PCB switches behind the cool plasma cut metal. I also don't use the shared USB as the mouse/kbd is all I need to switch. 5

[13.1 x 8.4 x 4"] I use this on my surveillance system with 3 NVR and a workstation. It works great, especially like the ability to share the speakers and microphone between all 4 pieces of gear. 5

[13.1 x 8.4 x 4"] I replaced a GCS 1764 with the 1794 because the 1764 had problems passing the video from more recent video chips, although it worked well with older chips. I presume that the 1794's ability to mimic the attached monitor accounts for the improved performance. I have not managed to test the ability to feed audio thru the HDMI connectors yet. My Panasonic receiver errors out when fed the HDMI video/audio. HDMI video feed direct to the monitor works fine. 5

[5.3 V, 2.4 A] This product was just the ticket for me hooking up 2 Mac mini's to a single monitor. I tucked everything in the back of the desk with the small switch button (long silver button on small black box) taped to the bottom of the monitor. SUPER easy to set up and works great! 5

[1.9 lb / 0.9 kg] I found the IOGEAR 4 port HDMI KVMP switch to be very useful and works great with my Samsung Smart Dock! I bought it about 6 months ago and I am very happy with it. The only issue is that because it works off the usb ports for switching between devices, depending on the device, there is an occasional lag. But it never lags when I switch from or to my Samsung smart dock that I connect my Note 3 to. 5

[1 to 99 seconds] This was a great buy, has two extra USB 2.0 nodes with one on the front for use with thumb sticks or w/e other USB peripheral you use. The foot print of this KVM is half the size of my old VGA Belkin. I have no cons to report. 5

[13.1 x 8.4 x 4"] Short story, I can telework a good percentage of the time, and we have a high end tablet for use in the office and in the field. At the office, I have a hard dock and dual monitors. Just undock and attach the keyboard and head into the field. I had limited computer desk top space at the home and did not really have room to add another monitor. So I asked for one of the spare tablet docks and added the HDMI KVM to flip between the home system and the docked tablet at the house. Works like a breeze. Just plug everything up and go. No configuration, no drivers, no nothing, just works. I should have done this months ago. 5

[5.5 lb] I first spoke with B&H Photo tech support regarding using this with Lorex NVR. They thought it should work fine and it did. Quite happy with this KVMP, I have 3 Surveillance recorders hooked to a 24 monitor, mouse and speakers. Saves a lot of space and the expense of a monitor, speakers and microphone for each recorder. 5
