[2-Channel] This direct input box solved a problem I had with making recordings from consumer audio sources with my Tascam DR-40 recorder. The DR-40 is designed for the professional-spec line input level of +4 dBu, which is about 12 dB higher than consumer-spec playback devices. I had to crank the input volume control all the way up but the audio levels were still falling short. I had read that the control range of the DR-40 is broader for the microphone input option vs the line setting. But I'd need to drop the line output of the player to mic levels. Running the player output into the 1/4 TS ports on the Pyle box, I got mic level I needed coming out of the Pyle's XLR ports. I used short XLR cable to patch over to the DR-40 and everything worked out. Now the correct input volume control setting ends up being in the middle of the range instead of at the top, so I can now get a perfect recording level with ease. There is no added noise or distortion that I can hear. With volume levels set all the way high there is no hum audible at all, just a very faint white noise hiss, the same you would get with shorted inputs. The price was the wonderful surprise. Other units from other manufacturers ranged from $20 to $180 for just a single channel. I had wondered if Pyle cut some corners but as far as I can tell the PDC22 has no problems at all. This product seems to be rugged enough for live music tours. The metal case is stout and it has two drilled mounting flanges. The only concession to low cost is that it's a very simple metal case with minimal attention to being made touch-friendly. It's hard and the corners and edges are crisp sheet metal folds. Don't buy it for looks, buy it for the sound and for the connection options it gives you. The instruction sheet is clearly written for bass players. When they say the output is meant for mixing boards, it also means it's at microphone drive level.

[Solid-State] I bought two of these for use with acoustic/electric guitar and keyboards. They do the job as advertised. Seem to be solidly built so if they hold up in they field they are a bargain!

[+11.3 dBu] I run an acoustic musician's Open Mic Night in a local restaurant/bar. 2 Powered speakers and a Peavey 8-channel mixer. Using a 20 snake, I provide connections for 3 mics and 3 instrument connections via 2 Direct Boxes. It's a small room venue, and the PDC22's work flawlessly. They lowest price per port, and they perform as well as much more expensive products. Surprisingly, the signal is cleaner than plugging the instrument directly into the mixer. Couldn't have asked for a better solution. Great bang-for-the-buck!

[2-Channel] I use this to input an active pickup heavy metal guitar into my mixer direct. My only gripe is the inside of the XLR ports is plastic. Other than that works perfectly.

[Yes] I was ready to expect some problems at this price.Of course, these are not my expensive Radials(I own several of them) I was pleasantly surprised by the robustness and quality(eliminates hum and noise, powerful ground option) of that product, even without transformers. I am impressed by Pyle Pro! also bought two of them can't beleive that price for what it does!

[Standard DI] For the price, it's a great passive 2-channel DI box. Period! Bought several for about a year ago (for my keyboard sequencers) without any malfunctions... if there is any question when there's a short in the line - it's always because someone is using a CHEAPER CABLE... and not fault of the Pyle DI boxes. Transparency is very acceptable when using electronic keyboards, drum machines and whatnot.NOTE: The 20db attenuation setting (on all my PDC22's) HAS a noticable hollowness to it when set to the -20db setting... so simply run the attenuation at either 0db or -40db (I run 0db). I still gave it 5 stars overall. As stated before, it's a good bang for the buck DI box... or you can buy a nice Radial ProD2 Stereo Passive Direct Box for exactly 10X as much $$$ (if you have the budget). Please be aware of that when comparing any two Passive Direct Boxes. It all boils down to your budget and sonic requirements (signal integrity). FYI - they both have ground lift and Attenuation.
