Designed with filmmakers in mind, this 6.6 x 6.6" Tiffen 6.6x6.6" Black Glimmerglass Diffusion Filterfrom Tiffen 6.6x6.6" Black Glimmerglass Diffusion Filterfeatures a density of 2 for a strong effect. It is designed to subtly soften the image and lower detail resolution, often sought after by videographers who want to simulate the look of film footage while shooting on digital gear. The filter is made of water white glass and can be mounted on compatible square filter holders.

This black Glimmerglass model gives a muted, washed-out look to bright colors, and it reduces contrast due to its white halation effect. It can smooth out unwanted blemishes, wrinkles, or other fine details in a subject's face while keeping the general image in focus, suiting it well for portraiture work. Manufactured using ColorCore technology, each Tiffen filter is designed to be accurate in its effect and produce consistent results.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can it fit in Cokin P-Series Filter Holder?

A: The Cokin P filter holder is designed to fit 85 x 100mm square filters, and a 77mm circular polarizer will not fit. Check out the Cokin P164 Circular Polarizer for a filter that will fit the Cokin P holder: http://bhpho.to/JSbSAt

Q: 2. Are this kit made to use together? Is not too much diffusion? With is the right formula please?

A: This kit consists of three separate diffusion filters, typically you will only use one at a time to achieve the look you are interested in.

Q: 3. Can I combine this 77mm to Cokin Z series Holder?? Or how can I combine this stuff . I have Fuji XT3 with kit lens 18- 55mm (58o) . I bought step up ring 58 - 77mm to attach Cokin Z series Holder. Which polarizer should I get or how to attach this with IT??

A: You can mount the Tiffen 77CP filter on your lens as you normally would. This filter has front filter threads where you can then mount the Cokin filter adapter ring and the holder. Keep in mind that the CP filter outer ring rotates

Q: 4. Will this filter cause vignetting on a Pentax 17-70 f/4 lens? Thanks.

A: No, it will not cause vignetting.

Q: 5. What is the possibility of vignetting with this lens if I use a 18-55 or 18-200 mm lens?

A: When these lenses are used on cropped sensor cameras, there should not be any vignetting. If this filter is attached on top of a UV filter, then there may be some vignetting at 18 mm.

Q: 6. How many stops of light do you lose when using this polarizer?

A: When using the Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter, your exposure will be reduced by 1.2-1.5 stops.

Q: 7. Is this filter front threaded to add another filter ?

A: Yes, it has threads on the front.

Q: 8. Does this filter cause distortion/blur when used in telephoto lenses (200mm)?

A: There is no distortion or blur when using this Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter on a 200mm lens.

Q: 9. Will this work with the Canon RF 50mm 1.8?

A: Yes, the Tiffen 43mm circular polarizing filter will work with the Canon Rf 50mm f/1.8.

Q: 10. can I use this filter on the canon 10-22 wide angle lens?

A: Yes, you can use it in your 10-22 mm. Nevertheless, you will see very strong vigneting in 10 mm. I believe you are not have this problem from 16 to 22 mm

[0.8 lb] So I have used the GlimmerGlass series a lot as a large matte-box filter on the cinema cameras. But sometimes I go and shoot inserts on a lighter setup with my FX6 and a Zoom lens. For that purpose this filter is absolutely perfect. If the 1/2, 3/4 and 1/4 become available as 82mm filters I will purchase them.

[0.8 lb] Was looking for a diffusion filter for my tcl-x100 to give my portraits back some of that softer feel I used to get when shooting on film. This does the job to perfection, retains sharpness, softens highlights, reduces contrast. Plent of videos online demonstrating the effect but you can take my word for it, it's an awesome filter!

[0.8 lb] Great filter for filmmakers , specially for modern photo lenses with over sharpness and 4k resolution

[0.8 lb] I don't usually use filters but I stumble upon a youtube video and was curious how they achieved the hazy look I was trying to achieve. I figured it was all done in post (which you can, albeit with varying results). So after Googlin' and researching I came across this specific filter. I should have prefaced that I mainly shoot images and occasional video.

The filtration is subtle (had to compare images taken under the same condition, see attached) but noticeable. This for sure will stay on my lens permanently!! GORGEOUS FILTER!

[0.8 lb] Great filter to give some softness to the highlights without intense halation

[0.8 lb] Any time I decide on diffusion filters, the biggest considerations for me are the strength of halation and the amount of contrast I'm looking for. I usually default to Hollywood Black Magic as my standard diffusion filter. When I want something stronger and a big more vintage feeling I'll reach for Black Pro Mist. When I want something much more subtle, I'll go for Glimmerglass because the halation is under much better control than the other two. I usually aim for a 1 strength when I want to see the effect. Even then, it doesn't feel too strong.

[0.8 lb] Soft glow without compromising contrast. I'd pick it over the promist any day.

[0.8 lb] Very subtle, but very flattering on faces. It offers very little hallation on highlights, just a little.

[0.8 lb] I was looking for a filter that would bloom the highlights and practical light sources without decreasing the overall contrast of the image, and I think this was just the filter I wanted. Compared to Black Pro Mist and especially Cinebloom, the shadow levels and sharpness are maintained with this filter. The diffusion is just enough for me. To me, it seems it blooms the highlights and light sources just enough to look like my image was shot on film, but without being too dramatic or noticeable. I think if I were going for a more dreamy look, I'd go with a higher Glimmerglass strength or use something like Cinebloom.
