Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this ink expire?

A: Most ink packaging is dated, but a good rule of thumb that we propose is up to 2 years when stored in a cool, dry, and dark environment

Q: 2. How long can the inks last in storage? I want to buy a set of replacement inks but not sure if I should just wait until I need them.

A: the use by date is 2 years after the manufacture date. also, I have found that the pigment inks are good for much longer, say at least 3 or 4 years.

Q: 3. Will this cartridge work on the Epson SC P-807 I purchased in Asia?

A: This cartridge is for US printers .

Q: 4. Can the ink expire in the printer before a replacement is needed?

A: Technically, it is my understanding that you should not used expired inks. However, I have had some inks that had expired and I used them until they ran out. I would not start with expired inks however, it is not the best thing for the printer, clogging etc. The inks have a mind of their own.

Q: 5. about how many 11X14 high quality prints will a set of inks make?

A: Unjfortunately Epson does not publish page yield on the R3880 printer. There are too many variables involved, including paper type, resolution and ink coverage.

Q: 6. This sounds dumb but I have heard that B&W printing uses some color inks in the mix. What inks should I keep in stock for B&W printing besides the obvious 4 blacks?

A: I would recommend to keep all 9 ink cartridges in stock. Just to be safe. Depending on the printer model, some printers will not print if a cartridge is empty.

Q: 7. About how many 17x22 prints can I get outta this ink?

A: According to a Red River Paper test, the cost of ink is approximately $3.20 for a 17x22 print. Divide your cost for a set of ink tanks by $3.20 and you have your answer. Your results may vary.

Q: 8. I own an Epson Stylus Pro 4880, which has been working well since I bought it approximately 5 years ago. I am considering purchasing a new printer, and am considering the Epson p800. I also looked over the Epson 4900, which hasn't received very good reviews. I like the ability to print 17 x20, which both printers can do, and the print resolution is advertised as being the same on both models. I guess my question is why would I buy the more expensive 4900? What advantage does the 4900 offer that the P800 lacks?

A: Congratulations on making the 4880 work for you; I never could, but mine was used, and I never knew if it was really working correctly or not. But my P800 has worked better than I expected.I previously had a Chinese version of the 3880, which suited me well, but the P800 with the roll-paper feature is better for me and what I do. It's easier to set up and use than the 4880. Can't speak for the 4900.

Q: 9. I own a epson 3880 and plan to buy a p800 are the inl cartridges compatible between both printers?

A: The ink cartridges are NOT, repeat, NOT compatible. Do not under any circumstances try to use the 3880 cartridges in the p800. You will ruin the p800. I also bought a p800 to replace my 3880 and find that the p800 has better blacks, givers better prints, and so far, is less prone to having the ink nozzles clog than the 3880.

Q: 10. Does this ink work with the new Epson P800?

A: No they are for the 3880 series. The P800 uses a different ink set.
