Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the maximum amount of weight the device wilB support before it begins to slip around the ball ?

A: This is a very strong system, it hold all size iPads with no problem. You will be surprised on how strong this is.

Q: 2. Where is is it made?

A: This K&M product is manufactured in Germany.

Q: 3. when mini boom is attached the weight of it keep pushing the stand down?

A: It may be too much weight for the clutch mechanism. I would not recommend using a boom arm with this type of stand.

Q: 4. Will this stand work with a 10" round Atlas base?

A: The K&M Microphone Stand & Tube Combination (Black) will not work with the round base from an Atlas stand because the Atlas MS-20E round base threading is 1 1/8" x 27 and the 21950 adapter for the K&M Microphone Stand & Tube Combination (Black) uses M20 threading.

Q: 5. what is the tripod leg length, and tripod maximum diameter?

A: Each of the tripod legs is approximately 14-inches long, with a total footprint of about 28-inches..

Q: 6. Would this hold a Rode NT1-A with Shock Mount and Pop Filter?

A: Yes, the K&M 21070 Tripod Microphone Stand with 32" Boom will support a large diaphragm condenser microphone such as the Rode NT1-A.

Q: 7. Will this boom fit to my MS series Atlas stand ? (Large tubing with 7/8 fitting)

A: The LATCH LAKE RB2200AT boom is not compatible with Atlas Sound MS series stands given the stands are 5/8 -27 male, and the RB2200AT is 7/8 -27 Threads.

Q: 8. I'm an aspiring filmmaker fairly new to professional audio. I own the Rode VideoMic and was wondering if it would attach to this boom? What type of attachment is required?

A: The microphone has a 1/4 20 female mount on the bottom of the cold shoe foot. A 5/8 -27 would be required:The WindTech M19 5/8 -27 Female to 1/4 -20 Male Adapter adapts any standard microphone stand to photo standard thread. B&H # WIM8219

Q: 9. Is the threaded connection on top 5/8" ? Didn't see it listed on the product page.

A: Yes; 5/8" thread is industry standard for mic stands. While thread is not listed in the info, the thread is shown in the picture at top.

Q: 10. What is the diameter of the threaded hole in stand?

A: The thread size at the top of the mic stand shaft (where you would attach the mic) is 5/8"-27. The thread size on the round weighted stand base should be 7/8"-27.

This boom stand is super stable, very adjustable, sturdy, solid, well built and yes, it will collapse down to a more convenient package for travel when compared to other large studio mic stands.
I was really tired of using boom mics on stages when they are required to reach to their fullest extension, because, you know, they get knocked over, even when folks are careful. So I have a pile of sand bags to keep the Atlas and K&M boom stands stable. But what about the vocal mic for the pianist at the grand piano?---there are not many boom stand options that can actually reach the vocalist who is playing piano and at the same time get the heck out of the way. The Latch Lake MicKing 1100 sure can.
This is a mic stand you acquire for an entire career. It is everything you wish your other boom stands would be, and there are a lot of other nice boom stands, but this one is better.
Caveat: it is heavy. A big full of these? Ummm... not so much. Do not expect to easily travel with more than a couple of the MicKing 1100 stands. These should be used in tandem with a variety of other more light weight stands for on stage, reserving the 1100 for special tasks, like drum over head, vocal mic for a pianist, for use of a larger, heavy microphone and that sort of thing.
And yes, absolutely yes, the MicKing 1100 is an excellent studio choice as well. In fact, for my preference, this style mic stand is better than the large studio stands with wheels.

I would be very confident in putting virtually any mic on this stand... it may even be able to hold a DSLR-type camera (*note: have not tried, try at your own risk) The latch adjustment system is secure, swift & honestly is. a bit of a game-changer if coming from a conventional stand. If this stand is in the budget, this is great for a large tube mic or a shotgun hanging above an interview set or drum kit. A must-have for any collection; Two thumbs up.

I have owned stands from K&M and Triad Orbit. K&M best stand did not last long and while in use wiggled too much. Triad tries to do many things and as a result, is not great at anything and to boot is frustrating to use.
Latch Lake is much more stable and easier to use, as it is specifically built as a Microphone stand. It is just a joy to work with and I get more stable and much better recordings with it.

This mic stand is heavy but it feels like it will last forever! We bought a couple earlier this year and just added a few more to the studio because of how reliable and sturdy they are. They seem to be able to hold just about any sort of mic or piece of equipment we've tried putting on it with no question it would remain stable and strong. Highly recommend, especially for permanent setups!

I recently bought an AEA R44 which is a HEAVY mic. Online forums recommended stands by Latch Lake. Well worth the price. i did some tests of the stand prior to use and it's solid as a rock! And the folks at B and H were of course solid professionals as always!
