Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How wide is are the tripod legs when extended? (i.e., how much floor space does this take up?)

A: According to Latch Lake web page: Tripod Base Our patent pending Symmetric Torque Tripod base features all new folding solid core legs giving you the distinctive stability all micKings are known for with a portable touch. This base enables a breakdown size of just under three feet. That's all I could find, you may want to call them: Latch Lake phone #: 1-800-428-2437

Q: 2. Can it hold heavy large diaphragm mic securely? Thanks

A: Absolutely. This is the most stable tripod base mic stand there is. Its larger base makes a significant difference. If the heavy mic is going on the boom, a leg will need to be positioned under it. Much better material quality than the imitations.

Q: 3. Will this work with PreSonus Revelator? If not, what other attachments are needed?

A: Yes, the Auray Telescoping Boom Arm Mic Stand with Table Clamp Mount can be used to support the PreSonus Revelator Dynamic USB Microphone.

Q: 4. Is the pivot mount steel or plastic?

A: In 2014, when I bought mine, the mount was steel. I cannot guarantee that they still are today, but mine have been very durable and solid.

Q: 5. Can you separate the vertical rod from the base tripod?

A: Yes, the boom can be separated from the base in a few different ways. This is a very versatile and configurable stand.

Q: 6. Will this boom fit to my MS series Atlas stand ? (Large tubing with 7/8 fitting)

A: The LATCH LAKE RB2200AT boom is not compatible with Atlas Sound MS series stands given the stands are 5/8 -27 male, and the RB2200AT is 7/8 -27 Threads.

Q: 7. Is it possible to angle the boom straight up in the air, if you needed more height, but wanted the option of sometimes using the boom arm?

A: Yes, the LATCH LAKE micKing 2200 Boom Microphone Stand can be used with the boom arm positioned straight up to achieve more height.

Q: 8. What is the maximum amount of weight the device wilB support before it begins to slip around the ball ?

A: This is a very strong system, it hold all size iPads with no problem. You will be surprised on how strong this is.

Q: 9. Do you need any additional parts to mount a rode mic?

A: This has a standard 5/8" thread that will accept any microphone clip that is designed for studio use. If you are asking about a microphine built for video or on camera use you may need an adapter.

Q: 10. does this stand work with a shure sm7b?

A: Yes, It will work with any microphone that the mounting thread is 5/8" female. That said, you may want to consider adding something like item# ONMM01 for best positioning options, as typically the SM7b is used in conjunction with a Broadcast arm where the arm threads or coming down above the mic.

[14.33 lb] Can't imagine why would anybody want to spend 5 - 10 times more for the same product. It is a commodity, like a door stopper. Anything would do the job. Then again, not being a pro I might not appreciate some fine nuances. For me, it does everything I need it to do.

[14.33 lb] We do a lot of interviews for our documentaries and this mic stand is just the ticket. Strong, sturdy and sensibly designed, it gives me a lot of confidence when we set up that at least we don't have to worry about it. Once you handle it and set it up, you'll know why it cost a little more. My son is always telling me to buy nice or buy twice. I'm sure this stand will be around for a few generations. It's well worth the investment.

[Steel] A nice, low cost unit. Its a light weight unit that's good for traditional mics that are also reasonable weight (SM57/58, Audix OM2, etc).
I plan to purchase a few more.

[Steel] This stand is just at a completely different level of polish than any other I've used. The clamping mechanisms are intense and solid - and highly adjustable - and the base ensures that it feels really secure. My only issue so far is getting a feel for how tight to adjust the various clamps, since I don't want to overtighten anything. But having used this stand, I don't know how I would go back to anything else...

[Steel] I had several Quik Loc stands that needed new booms. These were just what I needed to replace the old booms rather than buy new stands!

[14.33 lb] I tend to make films on the go, so I attach this to a small backpack or in a suitcase. It is lightweight and does the trick. No, it is not indestructible and has plastic knobs...but it also weighs nothing and can hold a Sennheiser Mkh-416 (for example) with no problem.

[Steel] We have two of these and maybe another 4 or 5 K&M mic stands. Love them all, worth the money. We hung these from the ceiling via threaded rod to support a couple of shotgun mics in our little video studio. We'd been using lav mics, but they're a pain, so we thought a couple of shotguns that could be permanently hung from the ceiling would be the thing to try. But we needed to be able to move the mics where we needed them, and that's where these booms came in. They work like a charm! Easy to balance, so that even at full extension, they hang level, and the threaded rods they hang from hang straight down. Just what we needed.

[Steel] Perfect compliment to the AirTurn mic stand...

[14.33 lb] Latch Lake is simply the best. You should be aware however that if you order this arm to be mounted on a non-Latch Lake stand, you will need to also purchase the "thread extender." It will be useless without it.
