A: There are currently no Wooden Camera top handles that incorporate anti-twist locking pins.

I'm new to the BMCC and the need for elaborate rigging, so I'm not sure how much I will need to eventually mount (light, audio, monitor, etc.), but I'm sure it will be more than I think! Can anyone comment on the versatility/expandability of this handle system in this regard? Do I need to look at a handle on rails or with more mounting points? Any red flags I should be aware of? Concerns to note?

A: If you have a wooden camera (or most any other brand) cage to mount it to they'll always have countless mounting points to attach accessories like monitor arms and such. So I don't think you'll have problem with expandability.I own this handle, however, I have since bought the nato handle version. Which attaches to a rail in a kind of quick release set up. I found that as I changed lenses which would in turn change the balance and weight of the rig I need to take the handle of a relocated (and sometimes turn it around) to rebalance everything. This got a bit tedious with screw on version. With the Nato handle it takes seconds.Hope this helps.

Q: 4. Does the 19 mm end opening mean a rod can be screwed into the end of the handle?

Q: 5. Has anyone mounted this on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera?

A: This particular handle is for an ARRI ALEXA. The screws I would believe would not match up. I would suggest the following handle instead. This handle is made for the BMCC. Yes it is more expensive but Wooden Camera makes outstanding quality items and once on set you will appreciate in the long run the ability of swiftly changing the handle.

A: The Wooden Camera Master Top Handle for RED DSMC2 (Main Handle Section) BH #WO248800 • MFR #248800 is compatible with the WC DSMC2 Top plate.

Q: 7. What's the weight capacity of this with the Wooden Camera swat rail?

A: We were unable to find a weight rating. However, it is shown with RED cameras. A fully decked out RED with a big Angenieux zoom will be in the 25lbs to 35lbs range. I am of the opinion that weight rating is well within the range of this handle.

Q: 8. Is this handle good for larger cameras, Ursa Mini Pro for example, with a full load of accessories? I'm wondering if the cold shoe mount will hold the weight.

A: Hi Jason, the Hot Shoe Camera Handle was specifically designed for lightweight camcorders. Since this unit only offers one point of contact, I would recommend a sturdier handle option for the Ursa Mini Pro, like any of our NATO Handle Kits.

Q: 9. Will this handle fit on top of the Redrock Micro ultraCage Black for the c100?

A: Unlike the standards for placement of 15mm rods, there is no standard for handles and unfortunately we are not able to test the compatibility of these two different brands of handles. That being said they do look very similar and the swap may very well work.

Q: 10. Are hot shoes designed to support the weight of the camera and lens hanging from it?

A: Hi William. The intention of this handle is for lightweight camcorder and DSLR camera setups. That said, a hot shoe mount can support heavier cameras depending on the application. If you would like to discuss this further you may email us directly with camera and lens information.

[0.22 lb] Put this on a Fuji GF X 50R to attach lighting equipment. Horizontal, right eye, vertical, left eye. You only forget a couple times. It's solid and I mean solid. With the GF X 110mm F2 it makes the camera much more comfortable to handle, tripod mount, and shoot hand held, with shorter lenses of course. Now I've got handles on all my rigs. Well done. 5

[0.22 lb] Excellent product. Mount your safety rail on your camera using the two included bolts and then the handle easily slides on and off as needed. The handle is sturdy and robust, is easily positionable and has mounting holes all over it. 19mm and 15mm rods can be added. I've purchased this handle kit for all three of my production cameras. 5

[6" / 15.2 cm] This is not the best or innovative handle on the market, but one that I enjoy the look and feel of each day I use it. Much of camera work is finding efficiencies and tools that help make the experience more enjoyable, and this little handle makes it just that. I like the attention to detail that makes this work in my FX9 ecosystem, and that to me speaks volumes about the design and cleverness that went into this product. 5

[6" / 15.2 cm] I combined this clip with a hot shoe adapter to make my underwater point and shoot capable to mount a wide angle modeling/video light. This clip holds the Bib Blue light and gives me versatility in positioning the light and ensures that it will stay where I position it. The whole thing works great and is lightweight. 5

[6" / 15.2 cm] I bought this on special as a way to rig audio quickly to my A7iii. The 4 cold shoes allow me to rig a few different setups when I'm on the run. For example, two RodeLink receivers into stereo Y-cable, or remove one Rodelink and replace with a shotgun/stereo video mic x etc. The handle screws onto the hot shoe and the connection is pretty good when closing to finger tightness but it wiggles/shifts side to side slightly in the A7iii hot shoe. Tighten it down with an allen wrench and it attaches very tightly. Feels very solid, but makes undoing it by fingers near impossible so keep that wrench handy. The inclusion of a threaded arri locating pin mount is much appreciated also. Due to the cold shoe mount WC uses, you can't mount the handle sideways, which isn't the end of the world but would be handy if the situation called for it. 5

[6" / 15.2 cm] I bought this handle to go along with my Wooden Pocket Cage, primarily because it has the unique feature of a 15mm rod hole in the handle stand. I needed this so I could easily mount my SmallHD 501 there. In addition, you can add a 15mm rod in the front of the handle, and a 19mm rod in the rear of the handle if you needed to do so (I don't, but it's nice to know it's there). It has a shoe mount too, but more importantly is you can easily adjust where the handle sits as it slides on its own mount, and the handle can easily be turned for whatever purpose you may need that for. It's the most versatile handle I've ever encountered and the build quality is second to none. 5
