The Promise Vess A2230 36TB 6-Bay NVR with 6 x 6TBfrom Promise Vess A2230 36TB 6-Bay NVR with 6 x 6TBis built to offer high levels of performance for IP video surveillance and is well-suited for small deployments such as retail stores, clinics, classrooms and gas stations. It supports up to 35 IP cameras, is powered by a 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron J1900 Quad-Core processor and 8GB of DDR3 RAM and has a capacity of 36TB that is split over six 6TB SATA 3.5" hard drives, each of which utilizes one of the NVR's six drive bays. A 64GB mSATA SSD is built-in and hosts the operating system and there are also two Gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and VGA video outputs, three RS-232 serial ports and support for RAID 0, 1, 1E, 3, 5, 6, 10 (0+1), 30 and 50. For those who wish to increase the storage capacity of this NVR, expansion is possible through iSCSI and multiple JBOD expansion enclosures. The supported operating systems are 64-bit editions of Windows Embedded Standard 7 Runtime (WS7P) and Windows 10 and this NVR is powered by an internal 250W power supply that runs using 100~240 VAC at 50-60 Hz.

Vess NVR appliances reduce support and equipment costs because there is no separate RAID storage unit to manage, eliminating the need for a server, controller cards, external cables and a separate storage enclosure. Additionally, Vess NVR appliances reduce interoperability conflicts caused when integrating different hardware.

Vess NVR appliances are compatible with a range of IP cameras and VMS from vendors including Aimetis, Axxonsoft, CamIQ, CSVi, Digifort, Genetec, OnSSI, SeeTec, Sony and Milestone.

An SDK library is provided for VMS UI and management integration. Plus, Vess supports the Milestone VMS plug-in enabling it to be managed via the XProtect interface. Additionally, you can easily expand via iSCSI by adding Promise external storage.

Predictive Playback - utilizes idle recording times to monitor read patterns to predict where the next playback will be needed so the hard disk drives are not competing with the workload of the system.

Remote Active Service - proactively detects when the PSU, controllers, or HDDs are going into critical condition and automatically notifies Promise support so the customer can be contacted, spare parts can be sent out, or the unit can be powered up after an outage. All of these are vitally important in environments that cannot risk downtime.

Sequential Pattern Recording - eliminates heavy workloads caused by random write patterns by monitoring recording patterns, collecting data in the cache buffer and only writing data to the drive once a full stripe is ready. This creates a sequential recording pattern which offers smooth performance.

Remote set up need a little tech knowledge especially if you are doing a manual set up the nvr is fast with upload and picture quality is excellent with good cameras one good feature is a nvr that can work with google chrome and edge without issues 5

REcently upgraded my NVR1218 to the beast. It's like going from the early 1900's to the 21st century in minutes! So happy with this setup, am now streaming full HD from 12 cameras with zero lag. Capable of up to 32 cameras. This purchase was made thru B&H, definitely worth it! 5

This is my second NVR from Synology (an upgrade from an older version). While not for the "plug and play" crowd, I would recommend this to anyone looking. Very powerful and very well supported by the manufacturer. 5

I needed an off computer storage solution for our family during COVID-19 lockdown. The kids were home from college doing their work, my wife working from home as well as myself. I could have gone for a traditional NAS but had read a lot of reviews on unreliability and difficulty setting them up and maintaining them. Although My Cloud Home is a sort of NAS, my understanding was that its much easier to set-up and run. I decided to go with My Cloud Home vs. a traditional NAS setup and very happy I did. Setting the unit up was super simple with the WD application and easy to access from anywhere via the mobile and desktop applications. Everything I wanted to save transferred over perfectly without a hitch. You can set up folders for documents, photos or however you want to do it. The My Cloud Home connects directly to our Netgear router and runs off our home Wi-Fi 6 network. We're on Xfinity and have had the network go down several times since installing the My Cloud Home and it has started back up without any issues at all or loss of data. The only thing I would say is that I should have gone for the 8 or 10 Gig version and may very well upgrade later on. Not sure 3 Gigs (after splitting the 6 Gig memory into two) is going to be enough down the line. But for now were only about 10% full and have a long way to go. Ours is the two drive model so you can use all 6 Gigs like it's one drive, but you loose the double back-up if you set it up that way. I prefer to have a double back-up of the data. In terms of aesthetics the My Cloud Home is a very nice looking piece of kit. We have it out in the open were it can be seen and it looks very nice.... much nicer than the standard NAS industrial looking enclosure. All-in-all, with the set-up and accessibility taken into consideration I'm really pleased with the My Cloud Home. We've been running it a number of months now without any issues what so ever. 5
