The silver Raytec VARIO2 Medium-Range White Light Illuminator Silverfrom Raytec VARIO2 Medium-Range White Light Illuminator Silverhelps improve the performance of any video surveillance system in low light conditions. It uses PLATINUM Elite SMT LED technology to deliver more power from a smaller platform. It can cast light to a distance of 295'.

The double-panel illuminator features an interchangeable lens system with Hot-spot Reduction Technology, and Adaptive Illumination to deliver even illumination for improving the overall image quality.

A: Hi Albert, You could probably substitute a flat washer and an M6 metric nut. It wouldn't be as pretty, but it would do the job. You could find these at your local hardware store or the hardware department at Home Depot. Good Luck!

Q: 7. How does a medium silver Profoto umbrella differ from a small silver Profoto umbrella? (I'm shooting headshots)

Q: 8. Is there a fabric to cover the front of the umbrella?

A: Yes. You can buy separately a diffuser to cover the front. I did and it is very good

Q: 9. Has anybody used the medium silver umbrella combined with the less powerful B2 head & What about after losing 1.5 stops with the diffuser added ? Most videos I've observed seem to be using the small size with the B2, apart from 1 Jared Platt video which had the medium silver being used. That photograph was however taken with an additional B2 head and a B1 head as well. Its hence hard to completely judge just the output of the medium umbrella alone.

A: I agree with William N. On the fantastic light. For portraits, I don't diffuse it either as it makes for nicer catch lights, imo.

Q: 10. Are these gloves lint free?

[>70] This really lights up the target area. It was well worth the purchase price. Just realize that it's a large, heavy light. The mount is cheaply made. I don't know who they have making it, but it doesn't have the ATN quality that I expected. I had to re-tap the screw holes just to get it mounted. The adjustments are a little awkward and with heavy recoil it tends to move. 5

[295' / 90 m] Using this to light up the side yard all the way to the back fence, about 90 feet. Just like in Iluminar's youtube videos this thing throws IR light everywhere. I love that a separate camera in a opposite corner that just sees the backyard sees the massive amount of IR light that it puts out. I have this model and the IR148 both are built solid after a year later still waterproof and working fine. 5

[>70] After I bought the first one and seeing how good it was, I ordered 3 more. They are that good for license plate reading. I have to say that I am now in the 99 percentile in reading license plates. I am going to post a picture of a golf cart with a standard California plate. The measured distance is 187 feet. The camera I am using is a Dahua 5442E-Z4E at full extension. I do not recommend using this camera at over 75 feet for license plate gathering. 5
