Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Which connector carries audio to the headphones and which is the microphone? Trying to see if there would be an aviation plug

A: In the Shure 3-Pin XLR Male and 1/4" TRS Male to BCASCA Cable; The XLR end is for the microphone and the 1/4'' TRS end is for the headphones.

Q: 2. what are the dimensions of the headphones themselves?

A: The Shure BRH440M Headset has 40mm drivers. The headband is adjustable and the earcups can be folded up for storage and transport.

Q: 3. Will this headset work in the PortaCom system?

A: Based on the wiring specs available, this headset is not compatible with a Portacom system. I would recommend using a Portacom headset such as the H-2000s for a Portacom system. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/149411-REG/Porta_Com_H_2000S_H200S_Single_Sided.html

A: Yes, the Shure BRH31M-NXLR4M Lightweight Single-Sided Broadcast Headset with Neutrik 4-Pin XLR-M Cable is compatible with RTS belt packs.

Q: 5. im using this headset with a Clear Com AB-120 broadcast box and am having issues getting it to function correctly. when i press the talk button the microphone immediately works but only for a couple seconds and with deteriorating levels over those 2 seconds. like the plates charge and then discharge but thats it. Any thoughts on this would be a great help? Thank You.

A: I strongly suggest contacting Sennheiser and Clear Com for wiring schematics (if available) so you can troubleshoot your connections.

Q: 6. How does one specify the termination & pinouts?

A: This headset provides a bare-wire pigtail for soldering your own connectors.

Q: 7. Can this headset be used with the Audient ID4?

A: No it cannot. This interface does not offer a Neutrik 5-Pin XLR-M Cable I/O

Q: 8. I have an Audio-Technica broadcast headset that is made useless by the excessive noise from the plastic parts that transmit into the microphone. Dies the Shure BRH50M have similar issues?

A: We haven't had any complaints regarding the Shure BRH50M.

Q: 9. Can not find any documentation how the Neutrik XLR 5-pin male connector is wired? Which pin is what?

A: The specifications provided by Shure are for the version with unterminated cable end. The model with the 5 pin Neutrik plug attached is not described anywhere in any Shure manual...!

Q: 10. What adapter is needed to connect this to a Motu or Focus Rite interface

A: Seenheiser HDM 300 is a 4 pin XLR connection we dont have an adapter to make this work with an audio interface since this is a 4 pin XLR it wont work.

[1.045 lb] Elecret Condenser Mic Lightweight, fits easiy around my head. I forget it's on soon after starting to perform. Very nice sound quality. It makes it easy to look around while singing and playing guitar. I found I could adjust the volume by quickly moving it closer or further from my mouth for harmony vs. lead vocals. I need to be aware of breathing into it, that makes quite a racket. It does include two wind screens which help. It does absolutely need phantom power to operate.

[XLR 4-Pin] As we add broadcast staff, we needed to be able to give each person their own headset for cleaning/sanitizing reasons. These sound great, are comfortable to wear even on a long shoot, and have held up well for us.

[Dynamic] I really like this headset mic. It is very comfortable to wear which is very important. The materials feel durable. The sound quality is excellent with very little feedback. It is exactly what I expect from Shure.

[XLR 4-Pin] I am using this mic for making voiceovers. It is a very nice mic. What I like the most-it doesn't catch much of the room's noise. In other words, it records well even in a poorly treated room.
